The subjects of the study consisted of 171 nursing students of J university in C province. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires from September 3 to 21, 2018 and analyzed based on frequencies, t-tests, ANOVAs, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions; these results were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program. The mean value of psychological well-being was 3.49, showing significant positive correlations with perceived parenting style(r=.324, <.01) and Grit(r=.668, <.01) in nursing students. Grit and perceived parenting style accounted for 48.7% of the total variance in psychological well-being among nursing students (R2=.487, <.001). Overall psychological well-being can be improved by Grit enhancement programs and supportive parenting style.

  • This study was attempted to identify differences in self-esteem and grit in adolescents depending on the type of parenting attitude. Among the Korea Children Youth Panel Survey conducted by National Youth Policy Institute, the data of 2,438 first-year middle school students in 2018 year were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using hierarchical cluster analysis and k-mean cluster analysis. As a result, the adolescent's perceived parenting attitude was classified into four types: 'passive affection acceptance', 'active affection acceptance', 'authoritarian inconsistency', and 'lack of affection rejection'. Also, there were significant differences in self-esteem and the degree of grit among the four clusters of parenting attitudes. Both self-esteem and grit were highest in the "active affection acceptance" group 2. In the future, differentiated parental education is needed for each cluster to improve self-esteem and grit of adolescents, and this study can be used as a basic data for the development of educational programs.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between children's self-esteem, peer attachment, parenting attitudes, and children's grit, and to specifically identify the influence of children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes on children's grit. The characteristics of the survey subjects were identified through frequency analysis and descriptive statistics analysis of the 11th year of the Korea Children's Panel (2018) data, and Pearson's moment correlation coefficient was calculated for correlation analysis between major variables. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the influence of children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes on children's grit. The research results are as follows. First, children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes were found to be positively correlated. Second, the child's self-esteem was found to have a positive influence on the child's grit, and among the peer attachment sub-variables, peer trust was found to have an influence, and among the sub-factors of parenting attitude, 'mother' affection/involvement, 'father' Democratic relationships were found to have an effect. In other words, it can be seen that children's self-esteem at the personal level, peer trust at the school level, and maternal affection and paternal relationship at the family level are useful variables that strengthen children's grit. Accordingly, in order to improve children's grit level, we must consider promotion measures through intervention and support at a multifaceted level.

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate structural associates among high school students' perceived parental autonomy support, growth mindset, grit and avoidant help-seeking behaviors. There were 419 high school students participated for this study, and their perceived parental autonomy support, growth mindset, girt and avoidant help-seeking behaviors were collected through on-line survey. Descriptive analyses, Pearson correlation analyses, Structural equation modeling and Boostrapping analyses were performed to explore those relations through SPSS 25.0 and Mplus 8.2. First of all, as the result, it was found that the perceived parental autonomy support had positive effects on growth mindset and grit. Second, the growth mindset worked as a negative mediator for the association between perceived parental autonomy support and avoidant help-seeking behaviors. The results suggested that we should consider not only relations with parents but also individual growth mindset to increase high school students' self-regulated learning. Also, theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

To this end, data from the 2018 Children and Youth Panel (KCYPS) survey were used, and 2,590 first-year middle school students were selected and analyzed. As for the analysis method, Baron & Kenny's regression analysis and Sobel Test were performed. As a result of the main analysis, first, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of parental support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Second, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of friend support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Third, it was found that grit had a partial mediating effect in the effect of teacher support, a sub-factor of social support of adolescents, on aggression. Based on the above research results, various program development and policy alternatives that can reduce youth aggression and improve grit were suggested.
