The purpose of this study was to examine the effects on the academic achievement and learning satisfaction according to the presentation method of the multimedia materials for 'transportation technology' units of technology home economics subject. The subjects were assigned in third conditions; Text type explanation class, multimedia class and multimedia video class with narration. The data of six evaluation questions obtained from the survey of 93 high school girl were analyzed using SPSS program. The results of the study were as follows : First, in the learning satisfaction average level(M) of the students' overall responses to the questions, multimedia teaching learning class(experimental group 1) is the first(M=4.14), multimedia video class with narration(experimental group 2) is the second(M=3.16), and instructor-led class(control group) is the third (M=2.63). Therefore, the teaching learning multimedia class(experimental group 1) was most effective. Second, looking at the correlations between the students' responses to the questions, in an interesting class, the students have a retentive memory and comprehension, but a lower concentration can not a retentive memory. Third, multimedia teaching learning class(experimental group 1) has the best degree at the level of academic achievement, but instructor-led class(control group) and multimedia video class with narration(experimental group 2) have similar degree in the second place. To increase academic achievement, an instructor-led class is important to arouse interest and a multimedia video class with narration is required ways to improve level of concentration.
The purpose of this study was to survey and analyze the recognition and needs of elementary school teachers about STEAM education. Mail and E-mail surveys were conducted for 533 elementary school teachers for the purpose of the study. The following were found results of the study were as follow: First, although elementary school teachers understood positively the necessity of STEAM education, showed average levels of recognition on STEAM education. Second, the rate of the elementary school teachers who had experience in applying STEAM education was low. Third, elementary school teachers required to education closely related to real life, and interesting education according to the direction for STEAM education. Fourth, elementary school teachers asked for the integration centering activities related real life, followed by the integration focusing on thema related to real life, the integrating centering student's needs and interests, and the integration focusing on issues according to the appropriate integration methods for STEAM education. Fifth, elementary school teachers required creative design/problem solving ability, academic performance ability, and interpersonal relationship skills with regard to the ability to develop through STEAM education. Lastly, elementary school teachers demanded the development and distribution of STEAM education, teacher's recognition and attitudes towards STEAM education, teacher's training for STEAM education, the distribution of reference materials and etc in order to stimulate STEAM education.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between teachers' characteristics and schools' peculiarities and to analyze relevant variables which influence the organization and implementation of the curriculum in specialized industry high schools. Subject were 414 teachers in specialized industry high school. The main result of this study are as follows. First, according to teachers' sex distinction, position, teaching experience, career of industry-related companies, subtle stress difference were found in establishment of education programs, relevance of educational activity, propriety of equipment. Second, in case of schools' subject of establishment, dormitory, specialized types, number of class, type of the sex of recruitment, subtle difference were found in connectivity of graders and subjects, relevance of the organization of education activity, substantial curriculum, push ahead with specialized high school. Third, measures to support development of specialized curriculum arrange sub-items in order of frequency. The way we understand things on vocational education must be settled without delay.
The purpose of this study was to analyze high schools' general and special subject required to successfully complete same stream curriculum which is identical to their major from agricultural high school, and to offer basic data on strategies of organizing agricultural high schools' curriculum for improving universities' major basic competencies. Using purposeful sampling technique, the professors of 116 universities professors in 8 agricultural university were analyzed through the survey research. The result was as follows. first, it appeared that for successful completion of major subjects of the same stream university, the basic science subject such as biology and chemistry has high relation with major basic ability, however math and physics are related highly in agricultural machine and agricultural civil engineering department, economics and math are in agricultural produce distribution department. Second, the basic ability such as linguistic competence and foreign language ability are essential to complete major subject. Third, if we look into relation of agriculture and life science industry stream specialized subject with major basic competencies, we can find considerable similarity between major field of university and subject name of specialized high school. Fourth, the main opinion is that basic concept and principle, laws of nature are should be main contents which is able to be practical, however experiment and practice is in food processing department, and academic theory is in biotechnology department.
Chemistry is the subject which includes properties, change, and composition of matter. Chemistry has the system which explains observable properties and change with microscopic level, it explains them using scientific theory and laws. In the national-level curriculum, the properties and changes of matter are continuously dealt with from elementary school to high school, and the curriculum are organized so that students could strengthen their understanding about matter. In other words, understanding of the properties and changes of matter is the base to explain everyday life with the view of chemistry, and these two are classified as domains of chemistry in the 2015 revised science curriculum. In this study, we confirmed students' understanding about properties of matter and change of matter, through the analysis about results of the National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA). For that purpose, this study analyzed the 12 items about properties of matter, and 19 items about change of matter, which were used in the NAEA from 2015 to 2019. According to the results of classifying and analyzing questions according to the core concept, the understanding about the two domains significantly changed between the proficient achievement-level students and basic achievement-level students. Depending on the achievement-level, there was a difference in explaining the phenomenon by using the perspective of particles, and by associating scientific concepts and models, or there was a difference in understanding the inquiry related to these two domains. Based on this analysis, this study discussed some implications to be improved on teaching-learning for 'properties of matter', and 'change of matter'.

The purpose of this research was to provide the information needed for improving the contents in housing unit of middle school technology and home economic textbook. For this purpose, a survey questionnaire was developed to examine teachers' importance perception of 48 contents in housing unit. A direct survey and an e-mail survey were used to collect data from teachers, and a total number of 233 data were analyzed. Conclusions were summarized as following: 1. Among the 48 contents in housing unit, the average score of teachers' importance perception of the 18 contents on 'interior environment and equipments' was 3.94; the average score of teachers' importance perception of the 15 contents on 'living space plan and use' was 3.78; and the average score of teachers'importance perception of the 15 content on 'housing maintenance and repair' was 3.42. Therefore, the 15 contents on 'housing maintenance and repair' must be revised. 2. Teachers' importance perception of 25 contents, among the 48 contents in housing unit, were significantly differentiated by gender, age, teaching experience, scholastic attainment, subject in charge(technology, home economics, technology and home economics), school type(boys' middle school, girls' middle school, coeducation), and region(city, county). Therefore, the 25 contents, of which importance perception were influenced by teachers' characteristics, must be revised in order to maintain the consistent importance perception. Suggestions were that the team teaching of technology and home economic textbook was more recommendable; that the local situations must be considered in the contents of housing unit and; that the contents of housing unit must be segmented into a minimum unit for the accurate evaluation.

This study aimed to examine the operation of the Home Economics education courses in the graduate schools of education, and to find out how graduate students perceive them. Data were collected with the use of handbooks issued by 11 graduate schools of education located in Seoul, and through telephone conversations with the administrative staff. To determine how graduate students majoring in Home Economics perceive their Home Economics courses, a survey was conducted among the graduate students in 10 graduate schools of education, and a total of 131 accomplished questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, all 11 graduate schools aimed to retrain their teachers, enhance their professionalism, and produce home economics education experts. The Home Economics Education courses come in two strands; a teacher's course and a major course. Most of the schools require a total of 30 credits. All Schools lack professors. Only 3 graduate schools have a home Economics Department in the College of Education. All graduate schools are offering a teacher's course based on a teacher's certification system. In a major course, Home Economics education has the largest number of subjects, with Clothing and Textiles and Food and Nutrition being given greater emphasis, and Consumer Economics, Home Economics Management, Child Care, and Family and Housing Studies being given less emphasis. Second, they mostly regard the graduate school of education as producer of experts, followed by producers of teachers and teacher re-trainers. Those who were majoring in Home Economics Education in college, and the teachers, are more interested in teacher re-training, while the non-teachers and those who were not majoring in Home Economics Education are more interested in producing teachers. They are less satisfied with the operation of the graduate school of education. But they are generally satisfied with the Home Economics Education course. Graduate students registered the lowest satisfaction with a major course, especially experimental subjects. For a teacher's course, the graduate students who are not teachers exhibited higher satisfaction, whereas the teachers showed lower satisfaction. But teachers registered more satisfaction with the practical use of major subjects in the educational field, thinking that their major was a big help in their work at a school. As for what has to be improved with regard to the Home Economics Education course, many cited the necessity of securing a good faculty and expanding the major subjects.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutritional knowledge and eating behavior of middle school students in Gwangju area in order to provide basic data for the development of home economics curriculum that can help the students form healthy eating habits. For this purpose, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to middle school students in Gwangju area. A total of 330 questionnaires were collected by convenience sampling and analyzed using SPSS(Statistics Package for the Social Science) Version 20.0 for Windows. Results of this study are as follows. First, school curriculum session ranked top(31.82%) on the list of sources for middle school students to acquire nutrition knowledge. Second, the mean score of nutrition knowledge of all respondents was moderately high(14.33 points out of maximum 20 points). In terms of nutrition knowledge by gender, female students had a higher level of nutrition knowledge in the 'Food' domain than their male counterparts(p<0.05). With regard to nutrition knowledge by grade, Grade 9 showed a higher score than Grade 7 and 8(p<0.001). Third, the mean score of eating behavior of all respondents was at an average level(69.75 out of 100 points). In terms of eating behavior by gender, male students showed a higher score than their female counterparts(p<0.05). In particular, male students had higher scores than female students for the following items: "I exercise regularly after school"(p<0.001); "I regularly eat meal three times per day"(p<0.01); "I don't skip breakfast"(p<0.01); and "I don't eat sweet food often"(p<0.01). In terms of eating behavior by grade, Grade 9 showed higher scores than Grades 7 and 8 for the following items: "I eat meal out of thankfulness for those who have prepared food"(p<0.01) and "I eat grains for every meal"(p<0.01). Finally, with regard to eating behavior depending on the level of nutrition knowledge, the 'Upper' and 'Middle' groups had higher scores for eating behavior than the 'Lower' group, indicating that a lower level of nutrition knowledge resulted in a lower score in eating behavior. Based on the above results, home economics teachers responsible for dietary education should have a greater sense of mission and pride and make more efforts to improve nutrition knowledge and eating behavior of middle school students.
This study analyzed correlation among peer evaluation, self-evaluation, and instructor evaluation of argumentation writing conducted in the 'Biology logic and essay' class. To this end, 14 pre-service biology teachers wrote argumentation four times, and peer evaluation, self-evaluation, and instructor evaluation were conducted on these results. The peer evaluation for argumentation writing averaged 2.70 points, the self-evaluation average was 2.68 points, and the instructor evaluation average was 2.71. Looking at the average of each sub-evaluation area, scientific knowledge was the highest in peer evaluation, and the composition area was the highest in self-evaluation. In addition, the area of scientific knowledge was the highest in the instructor evaluation. As a result of examining the standard deviation, the standard deviation of self-evaluation was the largest. As a result of analyzing the correlation between evaluation types, there was a high correlation between peer evaluation and instructor evaluation, and there was a moderate correlation between self-evaluation and instructor evaluation. On the other hand, there was no significant correlation between peer evaluation and self-evaluation. As a result of analyzing the correlation by evaluation area, there was no significant correlation between peer evaluation and self-evaluation in all four areas of scientific knowledge, scientific argumentation, composition, and expression. On the other hand, in the analysis between peer evaluation and instructor evaluation, there was a significant correlation in the areas of scientific knowledge, scientific argumentation, and composition. In addition, there was a significant correlation between self-evaluation and instructor evaluation only in the area of expression. The results of this study show that peer evaluation is highly likely to be applied in the 'Subject logic and essay' class. It also suggests that it is necessary to subdivide evaluation criteria according to the type of evaluation in order to use peer evaluation and self-evaluation.
This paper aims to illuminate how the Naturalists' concern on geography and geography education, mainly in Comenius, Rousseau, Pestalozzi who have played key roles in the development of Naturalism, has developed and how the Naturalism has influenced on the development of geography and geography education. Starting from sensual realism, the Naturalism suggested the educational principle and methods adjusting to the Nature well as exercised great influence on the formation of modem school education toward popular common education. The geography took the firm position as subject in the curriculum of the Naturalists and achieved the rationale of existence as subject in curriculum with utility to expand human experience, thanks to Naturalists. The Naturalists developed several ideas on geography teaching method such as labouring activity-centered geography teaching based on strengthening sense and experience by 'look-and-see' approach, local geography-centered geography teaching with stress the local area as the focus of direct experience and living environment, and the real thing-centered geography teaching by fieldwork. Moreover, The Naturalists had an great effect on the geographer, Karl Ritter in terms of methodology of geography.
