  • This study examined the research trends with a focus on the academic papers released from 2010 to 2022 on multicultural soldiers policy. As a result of examining the current status by year, field, and research subject, research has been conducted since the revision of the Military Service Act that allowed young people from multicultural families to join the army, but not actively so. Research fields also diversified from the creation of the environment and preparation directions to policy proposals ahead of the first multicultural soldier's enlistment, but the need to expand the field of research has been identified. Lastly, research subjects ranged from executives to warriors, but most of them centered around inmates rather than multicultural soldiers. It is expected that the analysis results of this paper will play a positive role in setting future research directions for multicultural soldiers that are still in progress.

  • This study attempts to identify a profile of the university library's overall organizational culture and to analyze the difference of the organizational culture according to library's characteristics(size, location, control and unit). A questionnaire that is based on the competing values framework is used to survey staff in university library. In conclusion, the highest score is in the internal process quadrant(39.92), toward consolidation and continuity, but emphasizing control aimed at stability. And the weakest in the overall culture profile is the open systems quadrant(13.27) which may indicate that external support and resource acquisition are not strong measures of effectiveness to the staff. Research on university library organizational culture using both qualitative and quantitative method needs to be further considered. Furthermore, the strategy in library organizational culture for library administrator to manage human resources efficiently needs to be developed.

  • This study suggests that multicultural education should not be limited to educational sites such as kindergartens. Since the multicultural attitudes and consciousness of young children are unconsciously acquired through parents' words and school education, they emphasized the implementation of multicultural education at home and kindergarten. In other words, multicultural education should not only be carried out in the field of education, but also in the homes of children. However, there are still few studies on multicultural education for parents. In this regard, this study highlights the importance of parents on multicultural education by examining the socio-economic status of parents with early childhood children and their actual experiences in multicultural education. To provide basic data.

  • This study aims to explore the character and problem of multicultural society in Korea in terms of the concept of moral panics. Its major issues are dealt with as follows: Firstly, this essay will apply two concepts of culture in multiculturalism - the pattern of meaning and a study of perfection- to three degrees of multicultural members: by individual, by groups and by a society as a whole. In this approach, moral panics of multicultural society in Korea have been manipulated by the secondary definitions like Korean government and media. In this study, however, the resource of the panics would be seen as nationalism in Korean history. To remove it in this essay, the conception of the pattern of meaning, which makes members understand others outer their norms, should be harmonized with that of a study of perfection by which they have identities. Secondly, the main subject of multiculturalism in Korea should at least be majority (groups)-Korean, not minority (groups)-foreigners. A stereotype of foreigners by majority is an image distorted by nationalities and races. People, for example, with the white skin from advanced countries are recognized as superior, while those born in the countries of Southeast Asia are, consciously or unconsciously, discriminated and have low positions due to socio-economic stratification in Korea. In this sense, a study of multicultural society in Korea should go forward to the inner direction to majority, because it is one of the real moral panics in Korea. In conclusion, it is important that there must be a study of identity which we can have of others in multicultural studies of Korea. It enables us to meet the conception of diversity. In that Korean government and media have neglected the danger of nationalism, it is also necessary that this study have any foundation of morality in ethics, which can give useful alternatives to the given polices of the secondary definitions.

  • This study aims to develop and validate Cultural Competence Scale for prospective social workers. The scale adopted three constructs of cultural competence, which include multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills. It was made up with concrete episodes based on which respondents rate sets of competing statements relating to multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills. The score of each item was calculated by subtracting each score of non-cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills from the corresponding score of cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills when cultural statements got higher scores than did non-cultural statements. Each score was summed up to make a total cultural competence score. Through preliminary and main test, 16 episodes and corresponding sets of statements were selected for the final version. The final scale showed satisfactory levels of reliability and validity. Based on the results, implications for the application and the further improvement of this scale were discussed.
