  • The study intended to explore not only what are the outcomes of employees' participation in corporate philanthropic activities, such as donation or volunteering, but also how their participation achieves the outcomes. In general, a specific corporate context is likely to lead employees to take part in corporate philanthropy in involuntary or passive ways. With this characteristics, employees' donation or volunteering at a working place has an impact on changes in their attitudes toward corporate social philanthropy and organizational commitment. The study also assumes that the changes in employees' attitudes have a mediate effect on their organizational commitment. The study conducted a survey for about 300 employees working at one of corporations in Seoul Metropolitan area. Based on a structural equation modelling analysis, the results showed that there was an indirect relationship between staffs' participations in corporate philanthropic activities and organizational commitment, which was mediated by employees' assessment and attitudes toward corporate philanthropy. Despite a limitation of the study sample, the study provided both an academic ground to discuss on employees' participation in corporate philanthropy, and a practical ground for corporate leaders to strategically consider how to encourage employees to participate in corporate philanthropic activities and to achieve its goal.

  • The goal of this study is to broaden our understanding about the antecedents for job turnover intention of salesforces. In addition to the previously studied antecedents such as job performance, satisfaction, organizational commitment, in this study we are particularly interested in the variable of alternative attractiveness which is often studied in social exchange theory, Thus, we suggest a model with a new antecedent for job turnover intention by introducing alternative attractiveness. We collected and analyzed the data from the survey on the 178 salespeople at the life insurance companies. We find the alternative attractiveness as an significant antecedent for the turnover intention. Specifically, the more attractive the alternative the greater the intention of turnover. However, we also find that the salesforces are less attracted to the alternative if they are satisfied with their works, Therefore, we believed this research can be a seminary work with the relational perspective for the studies of salesforce management.

  • This study conducted empirical analysis through user experience and questionnaire to find out whether the technical and contextual elements of the 'COVID-19 SABER' VR game produced and developed through initial research affect the improvement of the user's visual immersion. As a result first, the hypotheses regarding the resolution, viewing angle, effect, and design quality of the technical elements were accepted, but the hypotheses regarding the frame rate and the brightness of the lighting were rejected. Next, as for the hypothesis of the contextual elements, the hypothesis about background, directing, color and texture, interest and fun was adopted, and the hypothesis about storytelling was rejected. In summary, it was concluded that in order to increase the visual immersion of VR games, technical elements resolution, viewing angle, effect, design quality, contextual elements background, directing, color and texture, interest and fun must be designed and produced. The results of this study are expected to serve as basic data for the production and development of VR games that can induce and improve user's visual immersion in the future.

  • This study was designed to analyze the behavior characteristics of people, who have the same or similar Investigative (I) and Enterprising (E) Holland code scores, toward their career commitment. The calculus of the two codes is .16, which means that they are inconsistent and full of oppositions. Especially, the focus of the analysis is whether there are any differences in career commitment between people who have similarly high or low scores of their I and E codes and, if there are differences, what are their characteristics The analysis shows that the participants with high scores of their I and E codes have strong career commitment. They are highly goal oriented and motivated and with a long future time perspective they seek for progress in their careers. Due to their high career expectations and career resilience, they are willing to invest in their careers and put up with a certain level of sacrifice. They place the emphasis on their independence and are not very influenced by the surrounding environment. While the participants with low scores of their I and E codes also perceive the importance of their career commitment, they are very much affected by people and external stimuli. As a result, their efforts in terms of their career commitment are easily disturbed and lowered. The critical factor causing the difference between these two types of people is related to the score of their Social(S) code. This research has the potential to provide improvement points for career counselling.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of clinical nurses' intrinsic motivation, affective commitment, and turnover intention on organizational performance. Participants were 189 nurses currently working at four general hospitals in C city. Data were collected by a self-report questionnaire and analyzed by using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program with descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Mean scores were as follows: intrinsic motivation($3.02{\pm}0.57$), affective commitment ($3.47{\pm}0.71$), turnover intention ($3.30{\pm}0.59$), and organizational performance ($3.37{\pm}0.52$). Organizational performance was significantly correlated with intrinsic motivation, affective commitment, and turnover intention. Nurses with higher affective commitment and intrinsic motivation showed higher organizational performance, where as higher turnover intention was correlated with lower organizational performance. The factors that influenced organizational performance were affective commitment(${\beta}=.42$), intrinsic motivation(${\beta}=.36$), and turnover intention(${\beta}=-.11$), with an explanatory power of 51.6%. Results of this study indicate the need to evaluate and manage the significant predictors of organizational performance. Further studies are needed to identify the relationships between clinical nurses' intrinsic motivation, affective commitment, turnover intention, and organizational performance.

  • This study empirically analyzed the effect of service nature of dental clinic on job satisfaction and job commitment. In recent years, the demand for medical services has been increasing in the dental clinics. As the dental clinics are faced with various competition situations through new establishment and expansion, the importance of job satisfaction and job involvement is more emphasized. The service nature of dental hospitals is known to be influenced by job satisfaction and job commitment. These two factors are important factors for securing the competitiveness of dental hospitals as well as the functions of hospitals required for survival and development of dental hospitals In this study, we analyzed the effects of labor - management relations and high-involvement work organization on the organizational satisfaction and organizational commitment affecting service nature of dental hospital. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the service nature based organization has a full mediating effect which is not established without labor relations and participatory work organization in the process of affecting job commitment. Therefore, unlike previous studies which focus on incentives or external rewards to increase job satisfaction of employees, this study concluded that internal support system reflecting service nature factors should be strengthened. Job satisfaction and job commitment, which are variables in this study, are expected to be the basis for improving competitiveness of dental hospitals. Future research should be extended to small and medium dental hospitals and dental clinics. It is also necessary to study various organizations in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the service organization by fostering the nature of service such as relationship and interactivity at the organizational level.

  • This study examined how students' satisfaction with their major department influences their organizational commitment and intention to pursue a career in tourism-related fields among college students majoring in hospitality and tourism. The results indicated that their overall satisfaction with their department affected positively their organizational commitment but not the behavioral intention to pursue career in the tourism-related fields. Organizational commitment, on the other hands, exerted a positively significant influence behavioral intention to pursue tourism-related career. The results of this study underscored the needs for the educators to manage students' psychological attachment to the department they belong to and their major field of study. Continuous relationship-building efforts should be made for the students to pursue tourism-related career after graduation. Such efforts include efficient communication between faculty and students, extended supports from the school and alumni to the students, and last but not the least, sufficient supports from colleges.
