  • In this farer, An ADSRC(Advanced Dedicated Short Range Communication) packet communication system developed by ETRI is introduced. The ADSRC system has been developed to provide high-speed, short-range wireless racket communication in roadside environment for mobile office services. The requirements of the ADSRC system for mobile office services and the system design specification to meet them with regard to mobile of nce environment are discussed. The ADSRC packet communication systems consist of the MAC(Medium Access Control) Processor block the OFDM() modem block and the RF block. The MAC processor block handles medium access control. The OFDM modem transmits data packets at up to 24Mbps adaptively and recovers the data from RF block. The ADSRC packet communication system architecture is described.

Implementation and Performance Analysis of the Single Channel Monopulse System (단일채널 모노펄스시스템의 구현 및 성능 검증)

  • In this paper, we have studied the tracking system with a single channel monopulse receiver that has a comparative advantage of costs, size, weight, and power consumption over the general 3-channel monopulse receivers. After the single channel monopulse system was composed of an antenna, a monopulse receiver, a servo unit, a RF signal processor unit and a power supply unit, we analyzed the basic tracking performance of the tracking error angle and the pointing loss. And we proved the tracking performance to a moving target in the outdoor environment. On the Analysis of the tracking test results, the single channel monopulse system shows a equal or higher performance over the general 3-channel monopulse system and also has advantages of the system implementation. Also, it is concluded that this study is useful to apply a single channel monopulse receiver with benefits of production price and miniaturization when the monopulse tracking systems will be developed in the future.

  • The rubblization technique is breaking the aged concrete pavement slab into rubblized concrete aggregate, and use it as an base material at its original position, then builds overlay above the rubblized base. This method has been successively used in USA due to the advantage of good constructibility, cost-effectiveness as well as the capability of preventing of reflection cracks. However, constructibility and economic performance of rubblization on typical Korean concrete pavements needed to be investigate since to typical Korean concrete pavements have thick slab, as well include lean concrete subbase course. Multi-head type breaker suitable for Korean condition was designed and developed. This multi-head type breaker was designed to rubblize old concrete to the suggested optimum rubblized-depth and rubblized-concrete-aggregate size to prevent reflection crack and maintain high bearing capacity. This machine was used for the test of rubblization of old concrete pavement on a non-use old concrete and a in-serviced road. In these two tests, engineering properties of rubblized base and constructability and cost were investigated. In both tests, the old concrete rubblized to targeted size and depth, and high-level bearing capacity was achieved. Also, superior constructability and lower cost compared with traditional reconstruction was examined.

  • This paper has a goal to construct monitoring web GIS system which displays maps that are results of the fire detecting algorithms using MODIS image. To design and build more efficient system, foreign fire monitoring systems using satellite image are researched and analyzed. As a result of that, the information about interfaces and services provided by them are obtained. In concretely, new logical DFD is used to do a process modelling. ArcIMS 4.0 of ESRI, IIS 5.1 of Microsoft are utilized to build the web GIS System. In the aspects of data input and transfer, a specific module, which converts a binary image to a kind of vector file, is developed to adjust raster data to the web GIS system.

  • Recently, research and development on agricultural robots have been on the rise as the interest in smart farming has increased. Robots used in smart greenhouses should be taken into account with the working characteristics and growing environment. This study examined cleaning robots developed through the environmental analysis of smart greenhouses. This study assessed the evaluation method considering the requirements of the pest control robot applicable to the smart greenhouse. The performance and quality assessment criteria were established to conduct tests through the requirements of robots. The required functions and goals of the pest control robot were derived by referring to the robot-related standards. A driving and working ability test was conducted to assess the performance of the robot. The driving test was conducted on the driving performance of the robot and the work capability was tested on the pest control performance. In addition, a durability test was conducted to assess the quality of the robot. The required factors for smart greenhouse robots were derived from the test results. The study results are expected be a standard for an evaluation of a variety of robots for applications to smart greenhouses.

  • 홍수기에 안전하고 정확한 유량측정을 통하여 물관리에 필요한 기초수문자료를 확보하고자 한국수자원공사에서 1993년도부터 홍수유량측정기술 확보를 위한 연구를 시작하였다. 그간의 연구성과를 바탕으로 1999년도에 하천의 유속을 비접촉식으로 측정할 수 있는 홍수용 전자파표면유속계를 개발하여 특허등록하였고 그와 동시에 이의 상품화를 추진하여 2010년도까지 75대를 보급하여 실무에서 이용하고 있다. 이동식인 홍수용 전자파표면유속계를 바탕으로 2001년도에는 고정식 실시간 홍수유량측정측정시스템을 개발하여 특허등록하였고, 이 시제품을 현재 용담 수자원시험유역의 동향지점에서 시험운영하고 있다. 또한, 현장 유량측정실무자들의 홍수용 전자파표면유속계 개선요구에 따라 편각용 전자파표면유속계 시제품을 개발하였으며, 이는 임의의 한 지점에 설치한 한 대의 장비로 좌우 여러 측선의 유속을 동시에 측정할 수 있는 다점 측정기능을 갖도록 성능을 개선하였다. 이에 따라 홍수시 유량측정에 소요되는 시간이 줄어들어 신속하게 유량측정을 완료할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다. 이와 더불어 유속측정 범위를 확장하여 홍수시의 고유속 뿐만 아니라 0.5 m/s 이하의 저유속까지 측정할 수 있는 범용 전자파표면유속계의 시제품을 추가로 개발하였다. 이 장비는 최저유속 0.03 m/s의 측정을 실내시험을 통하여 입증하였다. 범용 전자파표면유속계는 상품화 시제품의 개발을 목표로 기존 시제품의 현장시험을 통하여 현장적용상의 문제점에 대한 해결에 주력하였다. 첫째, 평갈수용 전자파표면유속계의 사용편의를 개선하기 위하여 소형화 및 경량화를 추진하였고, 이를 위하여 사용주파수를 기존의 10 GHz에서 24 GHz로 변경함으로써 $35{\times}35\;cm$ 크기의 기존안테나를 $22{\times}22\;cm$ 크기로 소형화하였으며 송수신부의 무게는 기존 18 kg에서 3.3 kg으로 혁신적으로 줄이는데 성공하였다. 이를 위하여 안테나는 기존의 반사형안테나에서 도파관슬롯배열안테나로 변경하였다. 둘째, 측정값의 안정화를 위하여 안테나의 특성을 개선하여 부엽(side-lobe) 레벨 30 dB 이하 그리고 전후방비(front-back ratio) 50 dB 이하로 개선하여 안테나가 지향하는 방향 이외의 위치에서 반사되는 불필요한 신호를 줄였다. 또한 적응형 이득제어(adaptive gain control)기법의 채택으로 미소 신호에 대한 안정적 측정 및 과다 신호에 대한 능동적 감쇄를 할 수 있도록 시스템을 구성하여 전 유속범위에 대한 안정적 측정을 가능토록 설계 및 제작하였다. 셋째, 자가점검 기능을 탑재하여 유속측정 전에 기기의 상태에 대한 self test기능을 통하여 측정자가 기기의 상태를 사전에 파악 가능토록함으로써, 기기 오작동에 대한 능동 대처할 수 있도록 하였다. 이외에도 저전력 회로설계를 통하여 배터리 사용시간을 확장하였고, 기존의 전자파표면유속계가 가지고 있던 방습 및 방수에도 내성을 갖는 제품으로 설계하였으며 스마트기기를 이용한 무선측정 및 세련된 디자인 등 사용자의 요구사항을 충분히 반영하였다.

  • K-BEMS System was introduced to reduce peak load and to save total energy of the 200 buildings that KEPCO headquarter and branch offices use. And K-BEMS system is composed of PV, battery, and hybrid PCS. KEPCO research institute has carried out this K-BEMS research project for 3 years since January 2016. In this paper, the results of the project are shown. 9 modes of test results of K-BEMS system and are operational problems were analyzed. And measures to cure the trouble are also suggested. Batteries are operated more than 20% of SOC, and less than 20% of SOC battery protection switches are automatically shutting down the system and the system no longer respond to EMS, ending the supply of PV, and so therefore to continue the PV power supply it was turn out to be necessary that the EMS should automatically change its policy to change PV only supply mode automatically when the Battery Switch automatically operated. To operate the system continuously and automatically, it is necessary to modify the minimum operational SOC value, and in addition to that the EMS computer must remember the last shut-down SOC and Voltage which interrupted the system and add some margin to reflect the measurement error in the system.

  • Mobility as a Service is a service conception to achieve the intelligent transportation system. Its aims to improve the travel experience. In one platform, it connects various transportation modes to offer service and users only need to pay in one time for the whole travel. But the single MaaS platform easily faces the problems such as low user traffic, low retention rate and the access to markets of the this service is still unfound. From the perspective of bicycle-sharing, this research makes the MaaS concept into bicycle-sharing to build a better service model. The bicycle-sharing combine with the MaaS concept is innovative in business model, travel model and service architecture. In addition, this research also tests users' expectations for service model. The research shows that MaaS-based bicycle-sharing could offer flexible and convenient travel experience in the aspects of combined transportation, travel, transfer and payment, and it also makes it possible to make travel services according to need, and sustainable transport.

Development of smart car intelligent wheel hub bearing embedded system using predictive diagnosis algorithm

  • If there is a defect in the wheel bearing, which is a major part of the car, it can cause problems such as traffic accidents. In order to solve this problem, big data is collected and monitoring is conducted to provide early information on the presence or absence of wheel bearing failure and type of failure through predictive diagnosis and management technology. System development is needed. In this paper, to implement such an intelligent wheel hub bearing maintenance system, we develop an embedded system equipped with sensors for monitoring reliability and soundness and algorithms for predictive diagnosis. The algorithm used acquires vibration signals from acceleration sensors installed in wheel bearings and can predict and diagnose failures through big data technology through signal processing techniques, fault frequency analysis, and health characteristic parameter definition. The implemented algorithm applies a stable signal extraction algorithm that can minimize vibration frequency components and maximize vibration components occurring in wheel bearings. In noise removal using a filter, an artificial intelligence-based soundness extraction algorithm is applied, and FFT is applied. The fault frequency was analyzed and the fault was diagnosed by extracting fault characteristic factors. The performance target of this system was over 12,800 ODR, and the target was met through test results.

  • In this paper, we designed, constructed and evaluated the system for the FTTH suited to a residence and apartment using CWDM-PON techniques. These systems have capacity to service at 100Mbps rate to 384 users in the same breath. Also, the services include the internet, CATV, IPTV and wireless LAN. In the case of ire network, the data could be transmitted by UTP cable and optical fiber and case of wireless one, the data transmitted using WLAN. The distance between the cental office and the user is 20km and the data rate is 100Mbps maximum. Of course, the optical network used just one fiber optical core. For the basic material, we obtained the characteristics of optical transceiver module, Mux/Demux and transmission qualities depends on the environment.
