An Integrated File System for Guaranteeing the Quality of Service of Multimedia Stream (멀티미디어 스트림의 QoS를 보장하는 통합형 파일시스템)

  • Handling mixed workload in digital set-top box or streaming server becomes an important issue as integrated file system gets momentum as the choice for the next generation file system. The next generation file system is required to handle real-time audio/video playback while being able to handle text requests such as web page, image file, etc. Legacy file system provides only best effort I/O service and thus cannot properly support the QoS of soft real-time I/O. In this paper, we would like to present our experience in developing the file system which fan guarantee the QoS of multimedia stream. We classify all application I/O requests into two category: periodic I/O and sporadic I/O. The QoS requirement of multimedia stream could be guaranteed by giving a higher priority to periodic requests than sporadic requests. The proto-type file system(Qosfs) is developed on Linux Operating System.

  • 최근 인터넷의 급속한 성장과 빠른 보급, 정보통신 분야의 기술퓨전 현상들은 인터넷을 이용한 다양한 컨텐츠의 개발을 가속화시키고 있다. 특히 멀티미디어 스트리밍 기술은 일반 사용자들에게 동영상은 물론 풍부한 멀티미디어 데이터 전송을 통하여 능동적인 대화형 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 장점들을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 접속 횟수 및 접속시간 등의 빈도수에 따른 사용자 개인 가중치를 이용하여 사용자에게 보다 친숙하고 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 비디오 데이터 서비스를 제공하고자 하였으며, 카테고리 기반 및 키워드 기반에 따른 사용자 접근 정보를 이용하여 비디오 데이터를 분류하고 선별한 검색 서비스를 제공하고자 하였다. 또한 비디오 브라우징 시스템을 이용하여 사용자가 원하는 항목에 대한 비디오 검색을 장면 검색에서 샷 검색까지 프레임단위로 동영상을 이용하여 브라우징 할 수 있도록 하였으며, 해당 영역의 텍스트 및 관련 정보를 보다 세밀하고 정확하게 브라우징 할 수 있도록 정보를 제공하고자 하였다.

  • IP 기반은 VoD, 인터넷 등의 통신 서비스와 실시간 방송 프로그램을 제공하는 통신과 방송의 속성을 모두 가진 융합서비스를 의미한다. 이러한 IP 기반을 통해 본 논문은 사용자의 요청에 따라 양방향으로 다양한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 제공할 수 있도록 미디어 데이터의 유연성과 적응성이 고려된 멀티미디어 시스템 설계 및 구현을 하고자 한다.

  • Real-time multimedia transmit services like internet broadcasting, web-based education, chatting, conference, circumference observation etc. by using internet are given a great deal of weight on most recently internet services. In these way, various internet services are presented and there applications are also gradually spreaded because of improvement MPEG and streaming processing techniques. But currently internet service is a development of system which has independent function of above services. And a research and development of system which have a multipurpose internet service are insufficiency. In this paper, we design and develop system(RealCam SUN A/V) for transmitting images and voices based on MPEG4 streaming. As a result of our research, it made possible to transmit images with 15 frame/sec in 160×120 frame size at 56Kbps and 30 frame/sec in 640×480 frame size at 512Kbps. And also we can apply this system as multipurpose function to circumference observation and internet broadcasting etc., by transmitting voices, images and control signal simultaneously.

  • MPEG-4 시스템은 다양한 멀티미디어 객체를 시공간에 배치하고, 사용자의 상호작용을 가능하게 하는 리치미디어 시스템의 표준을 정의하고 있다. MPEG-4 리치미디어 컨텐츠의 표현은 장면의 구성을 나타내는 BIFS와 장면 중에 스트림이 있을 때 이에 대한 보조정보 및 스트림의 물리적 위치를 연결하는 OD로 구성되며, 이는 MP4라는 표준 파일포맷형식으로 저장되어, 스트리밍 서비스나 저장매체 응용에 이용된다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 용이하게 MPEG-4 리치미디어 컨텐츠를 저작할 수 있도록 도와주는 저작도구의 설계와 구현을 소개한다. 구현된 MPEG-4 컨텐츠 저작도구는 Windows20000 O/S환경에서 VisualStudio 6.0를 사용하여 C++로 구현하였다. 구현된 저작도구는 동영상, 오디오, 그래픽과 같은 다양한 미디어들을 사용자가 복잡합 MPEG-4 시스템을 의식하지 않고 편리한 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 공간과 시간에 배치하여 MPEG-4 리치미디어 컨텐츠 파일을 제작 할 수 있도록 한다.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the UHSNS-DRM(Ubi-Home Smart Multimedia Streaming-Digital Right Management) in Ubi-Home. The proposed system support flexible distribution platform for digital content copyright protection and management in Ubi-Home. This system also can provide multimedia streaming service to authorized users who are using PC, STB, PDA, and Portable Device, etc. Furthermore, we adopt concept of domain authentication and it help to improve the efficiency of license management for all devices in Ubi-Home. We design user's location recognition algorithm in order to provide intelligent services. Of course, this algorithm is applied for the proposed system. Start after striking space key 2 times.

A Mobile Platform System based on SBC (SBC 기반 차세대 이동형 단말기 개발)

  • In this paper, we develop the next generation mobile system based on SBC(Server Based Computing). SBC is one of the popular topic and only one server system is used as multiple personal systems with a terminal, a monitor and a keyboard. The advantages of this system are easy-upgrade, low costs and convenience for each user. But it is difficult to design and manufacture the multimedia streaming system and devices control system for external devices. In this paper, we represent and develops the Mobile system based on SBC and the test performances shows that our system has good performances of multimedia system and security for internet.

Power-Efficient Broadcasting Scheme for Mobile VOD System (모바일 VOD 시스템의 전력효율을 감안한 브로드캐스팅 기법)

  • As compared with wired network environment, mobile VOD service in wireless network environment is difficult to guarantee the quality of VOD service due to the limitation of the system resources. Moreover, the wireless network has small bandwidth resources and short access range so that has limitations for providing the service to a large number of mobile clients. The limited battery capacity of a mobile device becomes an obstacle to mobile clients for enjoying VOD service for a long time. Therefore, these drawbacks should be considered in developing mobile VOD applications. This paper proposes a new technique for improving QoS of mobile VOD service by jointly use of broadcasting technique, which can provide VOD service to a large number of mobile clients simultaneously, and bursty communication technique, which can reduce the power consumption of a mobile device. With having these two techniques, streaming data are divided into segments, each of which is grouped into a particular packet and then transmitted at a time in the busty communication manner. In the performance evaluation, the power consumption on WNIC of a mobile device can be reduced by over 80%, and the initial service delay can be reduced in proportion to the number of channels compared with the existing staggered broadcasting technique.

  • Recently, dynamic proxy caching has been proposed on the distributed environment so that media objects by user's requests can be served directly from the proxy without contacting the server. However, it makes caching challenging due to multimedia large sizes, low latency and continuous streaming demands of media objects. To solve the problems caused by streaming demands of media objects, this paper has been proposed the grouping scheme with fuzzy filtering based on partition and mapping. For partition and mapping, this paper divides media block segments into fixed partition reference block(R$_f$P) and variable partition reference block(R$_v$P). For semantic relationship, it makes fuzzy relationship to performs according to the fixed partition temporal synchronization(T$_f$) and variable partition temporal synchronization(T$_v$). Simulation results show that the proposed scheme makes streaming service efficiently with a high average request response time rate and cache hit rate and with a low delayed startup ratio compared with other schemes.

  • This paper proposes and implements consistency algorithm that is serviced streaming data efficiently in VOD system. The media data is loaded into each node by Round Robin method. The barrier mechanism is changed into the minimum data factor(SH. GOP) of media data in this paper. In addition in order to fast media data service, the additional features are implemented in the consistency algorithm. Additional feature of the consistency algorithm is added. First, time synchronization algorithm is added the suggested consistency algorithm. Second, the prepaging mechanism supports efficient buffering service. I experimented the suggested consistency algorithm on two DSM systems.
