In order to meet the purpose of this study preschoolers' self-determination, their playfulness, self-regulation, and self-esteem as well as goodness of fit between mother and child were taken into account as study variables of interest. Furthermore, the mediating effect of preschoolers' self-esteem in the effects of study variables on their self-esteem was examined. Three hundred thirty seven preschooler(aged 6-7 years old)-mother pairs who attended public subsidized child care facilities, located in Seoul and Gyeongi province were sampled. The data were obtained from mother-filled surveys, and on-site observations from both head teachers of the children as well as trained researchers. The obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS 21.0, and structural equation model (SEM) was tested with AMOS 21.0. The main results of this study were in the following. First, it was proven that self-determination of the preschoolers' influenced directly or indirectly on their self-esteem, their playfulness, and self-regulation, as well as goodness of mother-child fit. Also, the result pertaining to the mediational effects of child's self-esteem in the effects of study variables of interest on the child's self-determination were revealed. Along with results of this study, there is a strong need to empower the preschoolers' self-determination through improvement of their self-esteem in early childhood education and care as well as in family settings.

Measurement tool of adult attachment and tool of communication types of child were used to them for analysis. As the results of the study, there was no correlation between the types of adult attachment and communication types of child. On the contrary, there were passive correlations between dependency and negative communication types and between insecurity and positive communication types. Based on the correlation analysis, insecurity among types of mothers' adult attachment was a major variable that can predict communication skills of children's in the result of multiple regression analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the young children's 'more means more' bias and knowledge change process regarding a lever phenomenon, especially the relationship between the weight of an object and the strength of force and between the length of a lever and the strength of force. Subjects, who were presented with the tasks, were eight young children 5 years of age. Major findings were as followings. First, most of the subjects have a 'more means more' bias about the relationship between the weight of an object and the strength of force and between the length of a lever and the strength of force regarding a lever phenomenon. This meant that young children have similar concepts about a lever phenomenon regardless of whether it is right or wrong physically. Second, young children tried to make sure of their knowledge during experiments. They chose the evidence which confirmed their knowledge. But they tried to change their knowledge, when the evidence presented did not correspond to their knowledge. These findings contribute to understanding young children's 'more means more' bias and knowledge change process about a lever phenomenon and can be used in preschool science education programs and curriculums.

Methods: The subjects were 361 3, 4, 5 - year - old children and their mothers who attended to the early childhood education institutions. One-way ANOVA was conducted to find out age differences in self-regulation. The regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's optimism could predict their children's self-regulation. The stepwise regression analysis were conducted to find out whether the mother's acceptance parenting attitude could predict their children's self-regulation. Results: As for the self-regulation, there were significant age differences in the cognitve regulation and the behavioral regulation, but not in the emotional regulation. It implies that the abilities of cognitive and behavioral regulation increase as the age level goes up. As for the relations between mother's optimism and their children's self-regulation, only the permanence factor of the mother's optimism predicted children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. As for the relations between mother's acceptance parenting attitude and their children's self-regulation, two components of mother's acceptance parenting attitude (unconditionally love & right) could predict children's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation. The component of unique could predict the cognitive and emotional regulation. Conclusion/Implications: These results suggest that mother's optimism and acceptance parenting attitude positively affect on the development of self-regulation ability in children.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of forest play activities on children's emotional vocabulary change. Forest play activities were conducted for 498 children aged 4 to 5 years old who visited the environmental training in G city for forest play activity for 1 hour. As a result, positive vocabulary was significantly improved from 0.95±0.78 before forest play to 1.15±1.21 after forest play(p=.003) and negative vocabulary was significantly decreased from 1.27±1.58 to 0.41±1.10(p=.000). In the case of male children, positive vocabulary was increased significantly from 0.96±0.82 to 1.36±1.24(p=.000), in the case of negative vocabulary, it decreased significantly from 1.42±1.74 to 0.55±1.30(p=.000). In the case of female children, negative vocabulary was significantly decreased from 1.12±1.37 to 0.26±0.26(p=.000), but the positive vocabulary increase was not significant(p=.851). As a result of age, for a 4-year-old children, positive vocabulary did not show significant difference between before and after forest play(p=.471), and negative vocabulary was significantly increased from 1.04 ± 1.42 before forest play to 0.41±1.16 after forest play(p=.000). For a 5-year-old children, positive vocabulary was increased significantly from 0.96±0.85 to 1.23±1.21(p=.001) and negative vocabulary was decreased significantly from 1.41±1.65 to 0.41±1.06(p=.000). As a result of this study, it was found that play activities using various natural objects in the forest were directly related to nature, resulting in positive vocabulary increase and negative vocabulary decrease.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect on the creativity and Usability of young Children by applying design education pro young Children gramfor using 3D printer to the kindergarten field and, through the results, to prepare a realistic way to increase the utilization of 3D printer media in infant classrooms. In order to achieve this research purpose, 38 infants aged 5 from G kindergarten located in metropolitan A are divided into each experimental group and comparative group, and from August 2017 to January 2018, data were collected through 15 experiments over a period of about 6 months. As a research tool, in the Korean version of Torrance's Creativity Test, an infant shape test and a usability test scale were used, and the data processing and analysis were conducted through technical statistical methods and covariance analysis. As a result of the study, the program using 3D printer had a statistically significant effect on promoting creativity and Usability of young Children, and in particular, it had a remarkable effect on the elaboration of creativity composition. Based on these results, discussions on the existing Nuri process, which mainly aims to cultivate creative talents, the possibility of connecting 3D printers more widely and the role of teachers were made.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish Smart Education Environment for children's personalized learning based on the data are accumulated by Smart Device which is one of element on Smart Education. In this study, we propose the operational improvement plan for the free choice activity in the 5-year-old kindergarten and also implement the Free Choice Activity(FCA) management system for children to select and to evaluate the play plans for themselves. Children participating in this study have fun the whole time for the process of self-planning, the playing activities and the self-assessment of playing. As a result, it is confirmed that children participate actively in decision-making of interesting areas through the smart device than the traditional education environment before. A single teacher using FCA management system with smart device in this study can get useful information without difficulty of individual child's interests, learning and the statistics of children in the classroom.
