Development of PLC by using micro controller for the distributed fire alarm system (마이크로 콘트롤러를 이용한 분산형 방재 시스템용 중계기 개발)

  • In this paper, a small PLC system is designed and developed for the distributed building control and fire control system. It uses 8031, a 8-bit micro controller from Intel Inc. The size of the PLC is $7cm{\times}8cm$ and the PLC can accept 4 sensor inputs and drive 4 relay outputs, which operates at 24V. Multiple access of PLC by one host computer is implemented by assigning a unique 10 to each PLC, which ranges from 0 to 126. The operation starts by sending a command packet from host computer to a PLC and the PLC of the same 10 fetches the command packet by comparing the first byte of the command packet with its own 10. The PLC is programmed to perform a various functions and the function is selected by the content of the command byte, which is the second byte of the command packet. The third byte, which is the last byte, is a checksum byte. The checksum byte is the sum of the first byte and the second byte and is used to detect the communication error. Depending on the content of the command byte, PLC performs the desired function and returns the response packet back to the host computer. The response packet is also a three-byte packet, 10 byte, response byte and checksum byte. For the independent operation of PLC without being controlled by the host computer, variable length RULE data packet is sent to PLC. In case the communication line is broken, the PLC perform the independent operation by referencing the RULE data. The applicable areas are; building automation system, distributed factory automation, measurement of temperature of toxic or dangerous area.

  • In this paper, a development of model based battery SOC indicator is described. The proposed method is independent upon initial SOC, is reliable on the sudden change of load, and could estimate the available driving distance. The mathematical model of battery which has relation of the current, voltage and SOC estimates the SOC by least square estimation to minimize the error between measured voltage and estimated voltage. For experiment, the charging and discharging system using computer was designed to acquire the current and voltage data for model. The feasibility in electric vehicle was confirmed by variable load testing using the developed SOC indicator by stand-alone type microcontroller.

Development of Pulsating Type Electromagnetic Hammer Drive Systems (맥동파 전자해머 구동시스템의 개발)

  • This paper proposes the development of a low frequency electronic hammer drive system that is used to prevent scaling or clogging in the hopper process. The electro-mechanical hammering driving method involves the generation of vibration and impact energy. The operation principles of the electromagnetic hammer were considered by parallel/series spring coefficient analysis and the amount of kinetic energy generated was calculated from the product of the equivalent spring constant, which is coupled with the E core and the gap of between the E core and I core. In addition, the Pulsation Driving algorithm was applied to the proposed electromagnetic hammer to obtain the maximizing kinetic energy. This algorithm was then implemented by a logical AND operation process and micro-controller (atmega128) built in functions with a timer interrupt and PWM generation function. The driving circuit of the electromagnetic hammer was designed using the H-bridge type IGBT circuit. The experimental test was performed by usefulness of the developed electromagnetic hammer systems with the acceleration measurement method. The experimental result showed that the proposed system has good kinetic energy generation performance and can be applied to the hopper process.

  • In this paper, we show new method to find number of errors in the Reed-Solomon decoder. New design is much faster and has much simpler logic circuit than the former design method. This optimization was possible by very simplified square calculating circuit and parallel processing. The microcontroller of this Reed Solomon decoder can be used for data protection of almost all digital communication and consumer electronic devices.

  • In this paper. the soft IP (Intellectual Property) of pipeline of 32-bit microcontroller for embedded and portable application is presented. This IP supports variable pipeline stage according to the performance that user wants. In this architecture, three pipeline stages are basically employed and extended to the five pipeline stages. To this purpose, control logic has been partitioned to reflect each pipeline stage. FPGA platform is used for rapidly prototyping the IP. This is designed using Verilog HDL

  • This paper describes a PMSM control algorithm for realizing a low-cost motor drive system using a general purpose microcontroller. The proposed sensorless algorithm consists of the current observer and the sensorless scheme based on instantaneous reactive power. Also the control board system is not the high-cost DSP(digital signal processor) system but the general purpose microcontroller and it allows to reduce the unit cost of the motor system. However the clock frequency of the proposed microcontroller is one-fifths for the clock frequency of the DSP. In addition, the switching frequency must be selected as the lower frequency because of complex mathematic modeling of the sensorless algorithm. the low switching frequency augments the noise of the motor and might make accurate speed control impossible. Thus this paper proposes the optimization method to supplement the drawback of the general purpose microcontroller and the usefulness of the proposed method is verified through the experiment.

  • This paper presents a digital LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) backlight inverter control using an 8-bit microcontroller. The backlight uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps(CCFLs) that have the negative resistance characteristics, so it requires the ballast function. For this, the proposed LCD backlight inverter uses an 8-bit microcontroller, ATmega128. Therefore, the controller circuit is simplified and cost-minimized. It shows through the experimental results that the proposed inverter has good performance for the LCD backlight inverter.

  • Special-purpose microcontrollers PLCs have been widely used in the area of industrial automation. For the research of analysis and verification for PLC programs, first of all we have to specify formal sematics of PLC programming languages. This paper defines formally the operational semantics of LD language. After we transform the graphical language LD into its textual representation Symbolic LD, we give semantics of Symbolic LD since LD language is a graphical language. This paper defines the natural sematics of Symbolic LD and formalizes it in Coq proof assistant.

  • Many kinds of microcontrollers such as 8051, PIC16 and Atmega series are used for the automatic control system, home appliances and communication equipments manufacturing. It is very important to understand the basic operational principles of microcontrollers and their design concepts. There are many kinds of educational microcontroller trainers and also they are designed and assembled very complicatedly. For the students or developers, it is very difficult to catch the basic operation schemes and apply the techniques to the control system. And also it requires much cost and time for the various kinds of trainers purchasing. In this paper, standardization of pins layout and peripheral modules for the general microcontroller usage was introduced and tested with 89C2051, 89C51, PIC16F84, PIC16F877, Atmega8535 and Atmega128, etc. As a result of test, it was found that saving the cost and time using this suggested device was possible. And also it was very effective way to understand microcontroller design and programming techniques.

  • 현재 반도체 산업에서 플라즈마는 다양한 공정에 적용되고 있으며, 고집적 대면적 공정을 위한 다양한 플라즈마원들이 개발 중에 있다. 이 중 ICP는 현재 고밀도 플라즈마를 요구하는 공정에서 널리 쓰이고 있는 플라즈마원이다. 그러나 ICP는 안테나와 플라즈마 사이의 결합이 낮아 안테나의 전압과 전류가 높으며, 대면적에 적용하기 어려운 디자인 등의 여러 가지 문제점 들을 가지고 있는데, 이러한 ICP의 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 강자성체를 ICP에 응용하는 플라즈마원이 연구되어 왔고 일부 장치에 쓰이고 있다. 이것은 ICP의 많은 문제들을 해결하면서도 여러 가지 장점을 가지는 것으로 평가되고 있다. 강자성체를 이용한 ICP는 플라즈마와 안테나의 결합계수가 1에 가깝기 때문에 강자성체 ICP에서는 간편한 변압기 임피던스 매칭이 적용 가능하다. 이 논문에서는 릴레이를 이용하여 변압기의 권선수를 제어하는 방식을 통해 새로운 임피던스 매칭이 제안되었다. 간단한 매칭 시스템을 구현하여 권선비가 바뀌었을 때 특성을 분석하였다. 2-채널 릴레이를 사용할 때 임피던스 매칭이 가능하였고, 디지털 회로와 마이크로콘트롤러를 사용하여 디지털 임피던스 매칭 시스템을 구현하였다.
