  • There are considerable amount of man power and time spent for analysis and selection of various materials due to the inadequate application system and rapid searching process of material related information in each stage of building production process. Also, due to the insufficiency in recycling system of important information created for each process, they are hoarded at each task stage and project completion. As a result, because of the repetition of the similar/identical tasks on each process, it is the major reason for impeding the efficient employment of manpower of the company and decreasing competition of the company. Moreover, in selecting finish material in the project field, there are many difficulties due to the lack of technical information such as product characteristics and field applications. The construction quality also affects the profit and loss of the product which calls for a need to develop continued information management system that the finish material related examples could be shared in real time. The objective of this study is to propose a building finish material information which the real time research and application is possible to raise the productivity. TO do this, the current material information task status analysis and questionnaire research should be conducted to understand the demand of system development and reflect the result onto the system for easy access and application. Therefore, the building finish material information system for enhancement of productivity of construction task proposed in this study is expected to be utilized in enhancement of construction quality, maximization of company profit, and strengthening of company competition.

  • Indoor air quality has attracted great attention in recent years and thus the importance of managing finishing materials in terms of pollutant source control is being emphasized. Managing the finishing material at the design stage maximizes the efficiency of IAQ control at the following construction stage. However, there are insufficient investigations on the application of a specific finishing material management process, a database management system or a finishing material management process network. As a result, the main purposes of this study comprise comprehensive evaluation of IAQ performance from the selected finishing materials and auxiliary materials, application of the material management system basing on the types and characteristics of toxic substances generated from the indoor finishing materials, investigation of IAQ evaluation standard, and the overall IAQ evaluation method for the design parts. The result of this study will be the basic data to construct DBMS for management of finishing materials with respect to IAQ.

  • Recently, the scale and technical complexity of agricultural production has been growing. Therefore, agricultural facilities are being gradually diversified, expanded, and made more complex. To furnish Korea's agricultural industry with international competitiveness, it is thus necessary to introduce new management techniques. The PCM (procurement-construction-maintenance) information management system for agricultural facilities is established by setting up its WBS (work breakdown structure). In this study, the WBS of a facility such as facility, space, element, works, and resources is analyzed. Following this analysts, a WBS of an agricultural facility that is appropriate for the PCM information system of an agricultural facility, is proposed by deriving it from actual WBS.

  • The architectural drawing, construction project specification, etc. are included in the contract of a documents. However, construction project specification, for being documentation, is not utilized to such an extent. The reason is that specification information is difficult in collecting information in relation to the architectural drawing, material finishing list and other architectural information. Therefore, an integrated model, which can be associated with other architectural information, is needed, and a DB based on this integrated model must be established in order for it to be utilized in design, construction, and management. The DB, which is established through this process, must be updated according to modification in design, and construction. Furthermore the specification must be in document on the web for reference. Consequently in this research, the structure of integrated model has been introduced, and it has made the search and preparation of the integrated model on the Internet, using the specification information DB established for the mutual reference of DB, possible. The improvements of construction project specification standards are expected by this system. Also, it will bring about Improvements upon claim prevention, and design, construction, management qualities. Furthermore, it will make the use of information more convenient in practical business such as order agency, design service and building site.

  • Recently, After Service(AS) management in apartment housing projects has been appeared as one of the major factors for improving customer satisfaction, and increasing competitiveness and raising image of a company in construction industry. The primary objective of this paper is to propose a web-based AS management system which enables field engineers to effectively collect AS information required from customers and effectively manage the statuses and results of AS performed. It is anticipated that the effective use of the system proposed in this paper would be able to improve communication efficiency among the AS participants, and help field engineers systematically manage and accumulate data that might be utilized as a reference in future construction projects.

  • Recently, quality inspection and defect management have been considered as one of the major issues for increasing customer satisfaction and corporate image in domestic construction industry. However, the quality inspection and defect management have not been performed systematically because of insufficient field managers, the excessive amount of documents, complicated work process and difficulty in communicating construction information. Therefore, the field manager could not perform the quality inspection and defect management work in time as well as the reliability of recorded quality and defect data was decreased. The primary objective of this study is to propose a quality inspection and defect management system using information technology which enables field managers to efficiently gather the information of defection in apartment housing. It is anticipated that the effective use of the proposed system would be able to imp개ve communication among the related participants and systematically accumulate data that might be used in similar construction projects.
