The purpose of this study is to synthesize a comprehensive and general conclusion about the effects of mathematics classes using peer tutoring on the cognitive (mathematics learning achievement) and affective domains. For this purpose, a total of 61 individual studies were meta-analyzed in this study to calculate the effect size, measuring the strength of the relationship between mathematics classes using peer tutoring and either the cognitive or affective domain. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that mathematics classes using peer tutoring generally have a medium effect size in both cognitive and affective domains. Also, it was found that level of school, type of student, learning location, class time, tutor education or prior training are significant variables that affect the impact of mathematics classes using peer tutoring on the cognitive and affective domains. These results suggest specific ideas on how to design and operate peer tutoring in school mathematics classes on the basis of different variables.
Objective: This study examined the gossip, an evaluative conversation about an absent third party, through qualitative research methods, and explored the subjects and the social function of gossip among young children. Methods: The subject of this study included 24 five-year-olds children in Somang class at Baram kindergarten in Seoul. The data consisted of 20 participant observation, 2 in-depth interviews with the teacher, and informal interviews with the children. Results: The subjects of gossip among young children were peers, teachers, and family members. The social function of gossip among children was strengthening peer relationship, selecting peers, confirming rules, and pleasure. The results of this study confirmed that children are sensitive observers of their surroundings and that their peers, teachers, and families are important beings with influence in their lives. It also showed that children's gossip was a social conversation in which children build peer relationships, learn norms and experience pleasant emotions. Conclusion/Implications: This study has the significance of providing various perspectives on the socialization process of young children by looking at gossip which was perceived as a negative image, from a new perspective.
This study presents a design of Teachable Agent(TA) and its theoretical background. TA is an intelligent agent to which students as tutors teach, pose questions, and provide feedbacks using a concept map. TA consists of four independent Modules, Teach Module, Q&A Module, Test Module, and Resource Module. In Teach Module, students teach TA by constructing concept map. In Q&A Module, both students and TA ask questions and answer questions each other through an interactive window. To assess TA's knowledge and provide feedback to students, Test Module consists of a set of predetermined questions which TA should pass. From Resource Module, students can search and look up important information to teach, ask questions, and provide feedbacks whenever they want. It is expected that TA should provide student tutors with an active role in learning and positive attitude toward the subject matter by enhancing their cognition as well as motivation.

Extracting students' own culture and resources as main sources in science class, we begin a research to explore teaching and learning settings that are more responsive to adolescents. This study has been designed to explore the funds of knowledge that students bring into middle school science class. It also focused on the features of teaching and learning settings that stimulated the autonomous inflow of students' funds of knowledge as resources of science learning. Data from participant observations and in-depth interviews with 7th grade students were qualitatively analyzed based on grounded theory. We found that students' funds of knowledge were formed from their family life, neighbor communities, peer group, and pop culture. The funds of knowledge based on peer culture emerged as the most salient factor of students' enhanced participation and utterance. Common features of classes that stimulated the inflow of funds of knowledge were analyzed to be: (1) hybrid spaces for learning designed in advance: (2) sharing and enlargement of the funds of knowledge that has been brought into the class: and (3) common orientation of the community of practice for knowledge co-construction and shared outcomes. From these findings, this paper discussed the educational implications for promoting students' potential resources to actual sources of science class. It also discussed students' development of participation specifically among the generally marginalized students. Science classes based on the funds of knowledge of students offer an increased possibility of knowledge co-construction through the hybridized interactions of student's everyday lives and science knowledge and lead to more meaningful learning experiences.

The purposes of this study are to examine the predictability of variables related to SNS intention to use in collaborative learning and provide some new implications. Based on Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM), we hypothesized that optimism, innovativeness, discomfort, insecurity as personal disposition variables, subjective norm as a social variable, and perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as cognitive variables would predict SNS intention to use. For this study, 274 'Share Leadership' students in E university completed surveys and it was analyzed by multiple regression analysis. The results of this study showed as follows. First, optimism, innovativeness, discomfort, and subjective norm predicted perceived ease of use. Second, optimism, insecurity, subjective norm and perceived ease of use predicted perceived usefulness. Third, subjective norm, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness predicted SNS intention to use. From this, it is revealed that positive technology readiness predict much more than negative technology readiness do and the role of teacher and peers is very important.

This study is intended to implement an e-Learning system assisted class for the dress unit in the subject of technology & home economics in the middle school. This class is aimed at making teaching-learning in the dress unit effective, triggering students' interest in it, enhancing their understanding and offering basic materials for the e-Learning development about clothing instruction in the subject of technology & home economics. To make the concrete situational learning effective and provide realistic learning environments, learning contents were implemented so that the learners themselves could manipulate the contents by clicking. How to wear clothing according to learners' individuality was presented in order to trigger the learners' attention and motivation using the latest clothing pictures from the Internet shopping mall, and the dress fashion pictures of their peers. The result of this study can be summed up as follows. First, the implementation of learning materials with which simulation manipulation and visualization were possible could make the students reach the learning goals easily. Second, teaching-learning activity could be made more effective using audios, images and moving pictures rather than written texts. Third, learning the dress unit, which is especially related with a new fashion, made the most of the advantage of e-Learning by providing realistic and lively learning materials in a timely manner. And it triggered learners' motivation by providing pictures or moving pictures related with their real life. Based on these research results, this study suggests further research to develop e-Learning contents using various multimedia authoring tools as well as the ones applied to this study in learning the dress unit. It also suggests that the database of teaching-learning materials be constructed to securely prepare abundant instruction materials.

Many science education research and practices are recently emphasizing the importance of collaborative learning. This study also understands learning in aspects of socio-cultural context, and regarded the creation of meaning in a same-age group as an important learning process. This is most especially true in the premise that the formation of roles in a collaborative learning is important for successful interactive learning. This study aims to find out how roles form in a group. For this purpose, university students participating in a group discussion activity about energy flow and circulation of material were selected as research participants. Discussions among the nine students in one group consisted of cognitive conversations on the topic and operational conversations for preparing a presentation. Video-clips of the discussions were made and transcribed. For the analysis, we developed a framework that includes four interaction functions (cognitive, organizational, meta-cognitive, operational), four action elements (question, simple answer, providing opinion, response to opinion), and two to four intention elements by each action elements. As a result, a total of nine roles were revealed through the interaction function and element; cognitive questioner, operational questioner, simple answerer, operational suggester, organizational commander, operational commander, cognitive explainer, terminator, reflective thinker. These roles are re-classified into seven utterance patterns by the utterance order and object, and they were categorized into three role groups (facilitating interaction, sustaining interaction, finishing interaction). The result means that role formation and function can have influence on learning and interaction. This study is meaningful to the suggestion to collaborative learning including project-based learning, investigation, club activity, and for the re-illumination of the role in an aspect of the interaction.

The purpose of this study is to explore how to use location data for peer relations of infants in free-choice play activities. For this study, location data was collected using wearable devices for 14 students in one class at an early childhood education institution in Chungnam. For the pre-processing of the collected location data, a smoothing technique was applied to recover missing values during the collection process, and the data was visualized using Python's Matplotlib. Subsequently, the movement distance, distance between infants, and interaction types of infants were extracted from the location data using the formula. As a result of the study, it was possible to derive 1) change in moving distance, cumulative value, average value, 2) change in distance and average distance value between infants, and 3) change and trend in interaction type according to the passage of time. These results can provide valuable information on the process of forming peer groups for infants in situations where it is difficult for a teacher to closely observe all members, and can be used as meaningful information for the design and operation of educational programs.

Investigations into how the status of prior learning on the textbook of science were conducted, and the effects of prior learning on students' attitudes towards science class were carried out. The investigations for the status of prior learning were performed with a number of students who experienced prior learning, (self-directed and unself-directed prior learning), a selfless intention as the starting motive for prior learning, the problem solving strategies used by students in prior learning, and the important factor that influenced prior learning. The effects of prior learning on student attitude towards science class were also examined with respect to four categories, including confidence, interest, learning intention, and value (effect). The effects of prior learning on the four categories were analyzed on the basis of the students' level of scientific achievement, the types of prior learning, the starting motive for prior learning, and the extent of the students' understanding of the content on prior learning. The analytical results for the effects of prior learning on students' attitudes towards science class showed that the mean values of confidence, learning intention, and value among the students in the self-directed prior learning group were higher than those of the students in the unself-directed prior learning group. These findings are the result of positive recognition, such as the possibility that the students experienced with self-directed prior learning can do, the induction of an inherent motive based on their level of achievement in science class, and the operant learning of strategies for solving problems in science class. Meanwhile, by the effects of having a teacher lead the science class and the consensus formed between friends, the mean level of interest was higher in the unself-directed prior learning than in the self-directed prior learning.
