Manufacture of Versatile Phantom for the Daily Quality Assurance of Radiation Therapy Equipments (방사선치료 장비들의 매일 정도관리를 위한 다용도 모형의 제작)

  • We examined the accuracy and efficiency of phantom by applying the designed phantom in order to check daily quality assurance easily by objective criteria and to confirm daily quality assurance of linear accelerator, simulator, and CT-simulator. The results of 10 weeks of linear accelerator output dose using American Association of Physicists in Medicine(AAPM) daily quality assurance guide were measured within ${\pm}1%$ of error. Mechanical check of laser alignment, optical distance indicator(ODI), CT scanner laser and alignment of gantry lasers with the center of imaging plane were measured within ${\pm}1mm$. Daily average working time for daily quality assurance of radiation therapy equipments was 38 minutes. The designed phantom was easy to install and daily quality assurance was possible with only one installation. The aspects reproducibility and efficiency as well as accuracy of quality assurance were excellent.

Comparison on the Performance Medical Radiation Shielding Made of Rubber Sheet (의료방사선 차폐 고무시트의 제작과 성능 비교)

  • Main component of radiography barrier aprons is lead. To manufacture a lead-free barrier sheath, barium sulfate and organic iodine-based chemicals should be mixed with rubber. Barrier capacity was tested in the medical field. To improve adaptation of rubber with the mixture, raw materials went through milling, agitation, and extruding processes. Three sheaths were manufactured with 30%, 80%, and 120% sulfate barium, respectively. This study found 10% lower barrier capacity of lead-free barrier than the traditional lead-containing rubber sheath. Problems, however, were confronted during the agitation and extruding processes. Mixing with rubber was a technically demanding job. Inconsistent depth, problems with thermal processing and dissipation were encountered as well.

  • Medical imaging device에서 이미지 정보의 교환은 PACS의 성공을 결정짓는 중요한 요소이다. 즉 이미지 정보를 획득한다는 것은 네트워크상에서 정보를 신속 정확히 얻을 수 있다는 장점을 말한다. 더욱 중요한 것은 이미지파일의 호환성이다. 의료영상저장전달시스템 즉 PACS는 병원의 모든 정보와 서로 연동될 수 있어야 한다. 데이타 통합과 시스템의 안정성은 PACS에 있어서 가장 중요한 필수요건이다. 위에 언급한 요구조건들을 모두 만족시키기 위해서는 시스템 상호간을 네트워크할 수 있는 공통의 통합 프로토콜이 필요하다. 이와같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서 The American College of Radiology(ACR)과 National Electrical Manufacturers Association(NEMA)는 1983년초에 업체간의 장비공유와 방사선 실무자들의 통합되는 프로토클을 제정하기 위해 위원회를 설립하였다. 여기서 제정된 프로토콜을 DICOM이라 정하였다. DICOM의 역사적 배경, 의미, 필요성과 시스템상에서 어떻게 역활해왔는가와 DICOM을 통한 PACS시스템의 실제 활용예에 대하여 알아보겠다.

  • This conclusion was from the 3rd grade students of radiologic technology of Daegu Health College who already taken the hospital practice. 231 students answer our question and this study used sampling method. The contents of Questionnaire consisted of normal facts of respondent, Training satisfaction, Training Methods, Practice Environment of Hospital, Problem in Practice Hospital, Before and after views, etc. The statistical program SPSS/Win 10.0 version was used to see the results of the survey data used in. The response contents of brief question were separetely checked and clean.

DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) 표준을 사용한 PACS 연동 구현 사례

  • DICOM 표준은 의학 영상 장비를 Network으로 연결하여 사용을 원하는 사용자의 욕구를 충족시키기 위하여 만들어 졌다. 이것은 영상 장비가 출력하는 정보의 표준화를 통하여 영상 정보는 물론 환자 및 검사 정보 교환을 가능케 하여 장비의 효율적인 운용을 목표로하고 있다. 이런 목적외에도 장기 저장 매체의 저장 방식 및 지원되는 영상 장비의 개념을 확대하여 기존의 방사선과 장비는 물론, Endoscopy, Pathology, 및 Dematology를 포함하는 포괄적 영상 장비 연동을 위한 표준화 작업이 진행중에 있다. 본문에서는 DICOM 표준을 적용하여 시스템간의 연동을 구현한 사례로 PACS 와 RIS 연동과 같은 Text-based 연동과 DICOM Gateway를 사용하여 서로 다른 시스템간의 Image 연동을 위한 Image-based 연동으로 구분하여 예를 들었다. 결론적으로 DICOM 표준을 사용하면 서로 다른 형태의 영상 정보를 가지는 장비들를 Network으로 연결하여 정보 전달이 가능해 지고 이와 같은 연동은 서로 다른 시스템의 정보의 무결성을 보장하며 정보의 중복 저장을 방지할수 있게 되어 전체 시스템의 운용 효율을 증가 시킬수 있다.

The study of PbO's sintering effect for high efficiency x-ray detection sensor (고효율 방사선 검출 센서를 위한 PbO 박막의 소결효과에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, we made a high efficiency x-ray detecting sensor using the lead oxide(PbO) that are used in direct method of x-ray detector. PbO with nano size particles is produced by sol-gel method for high efficiency. The produced PbO with nano size is deposited on ITO(Induim Tin Oxide) glass in several temperature using the PIB(particle-in-binder) method. The thickness of the deposited PbO is about $200{\mu}m$. Through the measurement of dark current, sensitivity and SNR(Signal To Noise Ratio), an electrical properties of the produced PbO film are analyzed. Therefore, we show that an electrical properties are changed according to a temperature and that the PbO film that was treated at $500^{\circ}C$ in O2 atmosphere is the most high efficiency x-ray detecting sensor.

  • For five diagnostic X-ray generators (DR), four units turned out to be appropriate in tests on the reproducibility of radiation output suggested in the IEC 60601-2-54 standard, but in one unit of the X-ray equipment, an item measured in a combination of 50% of the highest tube voltage of the diagnostic X-ray equipment, the test setting of Group C with authorized output doses between $1{\mu}Gy$ and $5{\mu}Gy$ of mAs turned out to be inappropriate. As a result, the radiation dose to the IEC 60601-2-54 standard for quantification standards proposed by the radiation output from diagnostic X-ray imaging device reproducibility of performance management should be aware that an important evaluation factor.

  • In 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), many studies on reducing setup error have been conducted in order to focus the irradiation on the tumors while sparing normal tissues as much as possible. As one of these efforts, we developed an image enhancement and registration tool for simulators and portal images that analyze setup errors in a quantitative manner. For setup verification, we used simulator (films and EC-L films (Kodak, USA) as portal images. In addition, digital-captured images during simulation, and digitally-reconstructed radiographs (DRR) can be used as reference images in the software, which is coded using IDL5.4 (Research Systems Inc., USA). To improve the poor contrast of portal images, histogram-equalization, and adaptive histogram equalization, CLAHE (contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization) was implemented in the software. For image registration between simulator and portal images, contours drawn on the simulator image were transferred into the portal image, and then aligned onto the same anatomical structures on the portal image. In conclusion, applying CLAHE considerably improved the contrast of portal images and also enabled the analysis of setup errors in a quantitative manner.

  • Mercury Iodide as good sensitivity at radiation and has an easy peculiarity that operates at low voltage for other photoconductors(a-Se, a-Si, Ge, etc) Based on this characteristic, we studied about an efficiency of the digital x-ray detector in acccordance with the thickness of photoconductor. To solve the problem that is difficult to make a large area film using PVD(Physical Vapor Deposition)method, we used a PIB(Particle In Binder)method. To make a binder paste, we used a PVB(Polyvinylbutyral) as a binder and a DGME(Diethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether), DGMEA(Diethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether Acetate) as a solvent. Using this binder paste, we made a polycrystal mercury iodide film that has an each thickness. To evaluate the electrical properties of this films, we measured a darkcurrent, sensitivity and SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio). Mercury iodide film of the 200um thickness has good electrical properties as a result of the measurement. From this result there is a good chance that replace the existing a-Se(Amnorphous seleinum; a-se) with the mercury iodide.
