A VOD server, which is the central component for constructing VOD systems, requires to provide high bandwidth and continuous real-time delivery. It is also necessary to the sophisticated disk scheduling and data placement schemes in VOD sewers. One of the most common problem facing in such a system is the high initial latency time to service multiple users concurrently. In this paper, we propose a dynamic stream merging scheme for reducing the initial latency time in VOD servers. The proposed scheme allows clients to merge streams on a request as long as their requests fall within the reasonable time interval. The basic idea behind the dynamic stream merging is to merge multiple streams into one by increasing the frame rate of each stream. In the performance study, the proposed scheme can reduce the initial latency time under the minimum buffer use and also can enhance the performance of the VOD server with respect to the capacity of user admission.

지형정보시스템(이하 GIS)에 있어서 공간 데이타베이스의 구축은 GIS 전체 구축비용의 많은 부분을 차지하며 막대한 시간과 비용이 소요되는 과정이다. 수치지도를 이용한 공간 데이타베이스 구축은 데이타 수집비용의 절감이라는 측면에서 점차 그 유용성이 증대되고 있지만 경계선 불일치, 객체의 불연속성과 같은 새로운 문제점들이 나타나게 되어 공간 데이터베이스를 생성하기 전에 수치지도에 대한 수정 및 편집작업이 수행되어야 한다. 이 논문에서는 클라이언트-서버 환경에서 여러 클라이언트가 수치지도에 대하여 동시에 수정작업을 하기 위해 영역 잠금(region lock)을 이용한 협동 트랜잭션 모델을 제시한다. 그리고 경계선 작업 시에 클라이언트간의 협동작업을 위한 메시지 전파 프로토콜을 제시한다.

근래를 전략적 제휴의 시대라고 일컫듯이 전략적 제휴 건수는 매년 30%씩 급속한 증가세를 보이고 있다. 특히, IT산업에서는 디지털화 과정 상 불가피하게 나타나는 네트워킹을 최대한 확대하고 활용하기 위해서 전략적 제휴 및 인수합병이 성행하고 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 국내외 유수 IT기업간 최근 전략적 제휴 및 인수 사례들을 수집 ${\cdot}$ 분석하여 글로벌 네트워크 현황을 파악함과 동시에 제휴목적을 여덟 가지로 구분하였다. 나아가서, 제휴목적에 따라 기업의 전략적 태도를 군림형, 모험형, 보완형의 세 가지로 유형화 하였다.

최근 세계 자동차업계는 구조개편과 혁신을 동시에 추진하고 있다. 미국 빅 3의 회생을 위해 미국 정부가 직접 나서서 구조조정을 독려하고 있으며, 유럽의 소형차 업체인 폭스바겐과 피아트는 세계 1위와 2위 자리를 목표로 인수합병에 적극 나서고 있다. 일본 지동차업계도 감원을 최소화하면서 대대적인 비용절감을 추진하고 있다. 여기에 중국정부는 자국 자동차산업에 대한 통제와 지원을 강화하면서 추격 전략에서 선도 전략으로 육성 전략을 전환하고 있다. 이러한 가운데 산학관 협력을 통한 자동차업체간 첨단 기술 개발 경쟁도 심화되고 있다. 적자에 허덕이고 있는 자동차업계를 지원하기 위해 각국 정부가 대규모 구제 금융과 연구개발 보조금을 지원하고 있기 때문이다. 이하에서는 가시화되고 있는 세계 자동차산업의 구조개편과 혁신 전략에 대해 살펴보고 타이어업계에 대한 시사점을 도출해 보기로 한다.

IMF 이후 기업들은 구조조정을 통한 체질개선에 총력을 기울임과 동시에 그 동안의 외형적 성장에서 탈피하여 투자 자본의 효율 향상을 위해 기업가치를 극대화하려고 노력하고 있다. 따라서. 각 사업체의 중점 육성 부분과 매각 부분을 선별하게 되었으며, 이해 사 간의 인수 합병이 빈번히 일어나고 있다. 그러나, 이렇게 생성된 기업체의 경우, 기존 전산 시스템의 하드웨어, 소프트웨어, 데이터베이스 등의 불일치로 통합에 많은 시간과 비용이 발생하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 기존 전산 시스템의 플랫폼 불일치를 극복하며, 기존 시스템으로부터 개발되는 새로운 시스템으로의 전이를 자연스럽게 해줄 플랫폼 독립적인 대용량 데이터 동기화 서버(SyncDB2DB)를 설계한다.

We investigated whether regional hyperthermia (HT) increased post-surgical complications in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Between 1996 and 2007, 205 patients treated with preoperative CCRT and curative surgery were evaluable for the analysis of acute and late toxicities. A total dose of 39.6 Gy or 45 Gy was delivered concurrently with one or two cycles of chemotherapy (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin). Eighty-eight patients received regional HT twice a week using an 8-MHz radiofrequency capacitive heating device. Surgery was performed 4~6 weeks after the completion of preoperative CCRT. The median age was 59 years (range, 18~83) and the median follow-up period was 61months (range, 2~191). The 5-year overall survival and complication-free survival rate of all patients was 77.4% and 73.7%, respectively. Early leakage, delayed leakage, anastomotic stricture, fistula, and small bowel obstruction occurred in 1.0%, 2.9%, 1.5%, 5.9%, and 17.1%, respectively. HT did not increase all kinds of complications. The 5-year complication-free survival rate was 71.8% in the non-HT group and 76.3% in the HT group (p=0.293). Regional HT did not increase postoperative complications in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative CCRT followed by curative surgery.

A 5-year-old castrated male Chihuahua weighing 1.8 kg was presented for examination of a right perineal swelling. No clinical signs other than the swelling were observed by the owner. Digital palpation to the swelling confirmed right reducible perineal herniation. Dorsal perineal hernia was observed during surgery. A modified internal obturator transposition combined with a modified traditional perineal herniorrhaphy was performed for the perineal hernia repair. Contralateral herniation involving fat was noted a month after surgery. Coexistence of sciatic, dorsal, and caudal perineal hernias was observed during surgery. Aforementioned herniorrhaphy was performed for the perineal hernia repair. The follow-up information was based on physical examination by veterinarian. The owner reported that there was no evidence of complications related to surgery.

We experienced a case of tuberculosis presented simultaneously with pseudoaneurysm of the aorta and ARDS. A 63-year-old man was admitted with complaints of fever and right upper quadrant abdominal pain for a week. Chest X-ray on admission showed a normal finding. Sub-diaphragmatic abscess on abdomen CT scan was suspected and serosanguinous fluid was aspirated from the abscess pocket. On day 2, he was getting more dyspneic and chest X-ray revealed extensive bilateral infiltration. Aspirated fluid revealed AFB. Later, follow-up abdomen CT scan revealed a leakage of dye from the aneurysmal sac of the descending aorta which was previously diagnosed as sub-diaphragmatic abscess. An aortic stent was placed, covering the opening into the aneurysm. The sputum also showed positive AFB. The patient was successfully weaned from the ventilator, and discharged with anti-tuberculous medication on day 42. Follow-up abdomen CT scan 6 months later showed that the aneurymal sac was completely disappeared.

Spatial objects in the space II odd hale been changed bl eitber non-spiltial operations or spatial operations. For example, their states arc changed by the following operation: changing their owners, changing their owner's address, installing new constructions, changing precincts, splitting, and merging, The conventional geographic information system(GIS), however, did not also manage their histoncal information cecause it handles the snapshot image of spatial ohjects in the world. In this paper we therelore propose a spatiotemporal data model which is ahle to not un]y manage the historical information of spatial objects but also, support their historical intemlgation by extending a time dimension and a historical pointer for SDE(Spatial Database Engine) spatial data model. Finally, the proposed spatiotemporal data model using a layered time extension are going to contribute to manage the history of spatial objects in the world and retrieve them.

Recently we operated on two cases of PDA in premature infant. In both cases, indomethacin therapy had failed to close the PDA. The extremely small baby(body weight 540gm) died 28hrs postoperatively by unexpe ted intrathoracic bleeding probably due to coagulopathy related to septic condition and thrombocytopenia. The clinical course of the second case(body weight 1395gm) was complicated by ileal perforation sec- ondary to necrotizing enterocolitis. The baby underwent segmental resection of ileum with ileostomy on the 8th hospital day. On the 34th hospital day surgical closure of the PDA was done and the ile'ostomy was repaired simultaneously. Ventilator weaning was possible on the postoperative 6th day. The baby discharged on the postoperative 33th day with the body weight of 2050gm.
