  • Recently, landslide disasters caused by severe rain storms and typhoons have been frequently reported. Due to the geomorphologic characteristics of Korea, considerable portion of urban area and infrastructures such as road and railway have been constructed near mountains. These infrastructures may encounter the risk of landslide and debris flow. It is important to evaluate the highly risky locations of landslide and to prepare measures for the protection of landslide in the process of construction planning. In this study, a landslide-risk prediction equation is proposed based on the statistical analysis of 423 landslide data set obtained from field surveys, disaster reports on national road, and digital maps of landslide area. Each dataset includes geomorphologic characteristics, soil properties, rainfall information, forest properties and hazard history. The comparison between the result of proposed equation and actual occurrence of landslide shows 92 percent in the accuracy of classification. Since the input for the equation can be provided within short period and low cost, and the results of equation can be easily incorporated with hazard map, the proposed equation can be effectively utilized in the analysis of landslide-risk for large mountainous area.

Abstract It is necessary that the integrity of spatial data shared through the spatial database system is validated and appropriately maintained, otherwise the activity of whole application system is unpredictable. Specially, the integrity of spatial data stored in public GIS has to be validated, because those data are used by various applications which make a decision on an important policy of the region and/or whole nation such as evaluation of land use, city planning, resource management, facility management, risk management/safety supervision, national defense. In this paper, we propose rule management system to support validating the integrity of spatial object, using the technique of active rule technique from active DBMS. Validating data integrity using active rules allows database application programmer to be free from a burden on validation of the data integrity. This system is an independent, external system that is not subject to specific DBMS and consists of three parts, which are the active rule manager, the rule base, and the triggered rule generator. When an user tries to manipulate spatial objects through a spatial database application program, this system serves to efficiently manage integrity rules to be inserted into the application program to validate the integrity constraints of all the spatial objects manipulated by database transactions.

  • As large-scale housing sites are being developed rapidly in Sejong City, which was launched in 2012 for resolving the adverse effects of overconcentration in the capital area, promoting balanced development of the country, and reinforcing national competitiveness, changes in spatial structure are expected in the surrounding areas. For setting the directions of urban planning, it is essential to understand changes in spatial structure. This study purposed to measure changes in the spatial structure of neighboring areas resulting from the construction of Sejong City by approaching from the aspect of spatial interaction. In the analysis, we calculated population potential for future spatial interaction using the accessibility model, and interpreted quantitatively and qualitatively the outcomes of spatial interaction among neighboring areas before and after the construction of Sejong City using population potential as an indicator. According to the results of the analysis, the impact range of the population potential of the subject areas had been shrinking continuously since 1995, and in 2013 population potential dispersed as the population concentrated on and around Cheonan City. Although Sejong City, as a new area of population potential, was not found to play the role of a pivotal point for the surrounding areas, it is probably because the analysis was made just after people began to move to Sejong City. Accordingly, along with the effort of Sejong City to reach the planned population, it is necessary to keep monitoring changes in related factors and changes in the spatial structure of the surrounding cities resulting from the growth of population.

  • The Doam-dam watershed, located at Kangwon Province, Korea, has been experiencing significant changes in land uses, conversion from forest to agricultural/urban areas, with human involvements. However, no thorough investigation of the landscape impacts of land use changes was performed at this watershed using the scientific analytical tool. Thus, the FRAGSTATS model was utilized to quantitatively analyze the landscape impacts of forest fragmentation in this study. To provide the detailed explanations for 11 landscape indices considered in this study, two artificial and simplified landscapes, before and after fragmentations, were constructed. Using these 11 indices, the landscape impacts of forest fragmentation in 19 subwatersheds of the Doam-dam watershed were analyzed. The S1 subwatershed, one of 19 subwatersheds of the Doam-dam watershed, was found to have experienced the significant forest fragmentation from 1985 to 2000 based on landscape analysis using the FRAGSTATS model. The results obtained in this study can be used to evaluate the water quality impacts of forest fragmentations/land use changes at watershed scale level, and establish environment-friendly land use planning based on the results obtained using landscape analytical tool, FRAGSTATS.

  • Traffic jam densified day by day is phenomenon to occur lack of the road capacity in comparison with traffic density, but lack of the road cannot be concluded by main cause of traffic ism. Because the central function of a city would be concentrated upon the downtown and traffic demand would not be evenly distributed by the classification of an hour. Therefore, this study based on the fact that each driver will select the route generating traffic delay very low when path choice from origin to destination in travel plan estimating the quality of passage could be maintained the speed he want will approach to a characteristic grasp of a road, traffic, driver changing every moment by traffic-demand of road increased as a geometrical series with analysis a classification of a street, a intersection along the path on traffic density and highway capacity analysis the path using GIS techniques about complex street network, also will get the path of actual optimum for traffic delay trend creating under various condition the classification per a hour, a day of week and an incident through network such as analysis for traffic generation zone adjacent about street, intersection, afterward will expect the result increasing efficiency of the road-use through a good distribution of traffic by optimum-path choice, accordingly will prepare the scientific, objective, appropriate basis to decide the reasonable time of a road-widen and expansion through section analysis along a rate of traffic volume vs. road capacity.

  • The user behaviors in the parks around the commercial area may have different characteristics in comparison with the behaviors in typical neighborhood parks because they may be affected by nearby commercial facilities. The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of park users'behavior considering adjacent environments in the neighborhood parks located in central business district of Daegu and to suggest improvements and complements for the construction of new parks and remodeling current parks. According to the results, the land values were high and the percentage of deteriorated buildings was low around Gukchae Reward Movement Memorial Park and 2.28 Central Memorial Park. However, the commercial facilities were entirely declined along with a drop in land values around Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park and old people used this park more than young people. In terms of the purpose of park use, users of three parks had indirect behavior patterns related near commercial facilities rather than using directly park facilities and the age groups of park users were similar to the user groups of nearby commercial facilities. Also, the determinant factors of satisfaction with park use were varied depending on the difference of age groups of park users and park characteristics. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the effects of user age groups according to the changes of environment around parks for the construction and organization of parks.

  • In recent years, with the rapid development of large and medium-sized urban rail transit in China, the total operating mileage of high-speed railway and the total number of EMUs(Electric Multiple Units) are rising. The system complexity of high-speed EMU is constantly increasing, which puts forward higher requirements for the safety of equipment and the efficiency of maintenance. At present, the maintenance mode of high-speed EMU in China still adopts the post maintenance method based on planned maintenance and fault maintenance, which leads to insufficient or excessive maintenance, reduces the efficiency of equipment fault handling, and increases the maintenance cost. Based on the intelligent operation and maintenance technology of PHM(prognostics and health management). This thesis builds an integrated PHM platform of "vehicle system-communication system-ground system" by integrating multi-source heterogeneous data of different scenarios of high-speed EMU, and combines the equipment fault mechanism with artificial intelligence algorithms to build a fault prediction model for traction motors of high-speed EMU.Reliable fault prediction and accurate maintenance shall be carried out in advance to ensure safe and efficient operation of high-speed EMU.

  • The sharing economy service is now spreading in various fields such as accommodation, cars and bicycles. In particular, bicycle-sharing service have become very popular around the world, and since September 2015, Seoul has been providing a bicycle-sharing service called 'Ttareungi'. However, the number of bicycles is unbalanced among rental stations continuously according to the user's bicycle use. In order to solve these problems, we employed social network analysis using Ttareungi data in Seoul, Korea. We analyzed degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality and k-core. As a result, the degree centrality was found to be closely linked with bus or subway transfer center. Closeness centrality was found to be in an unbalanced departure and arrival frequency or poor public transport proximity. Betweenness centrality means where the frequency of departure and arrival occurs frequently. Finally, the k-core analysis showed that Mapo-gu was the most important group by time zone. Therefore, the results of this study may contribute to the planning of relocation and additional installation of bike rental station in Seoul.
