A Study on Faculty Status for Academic Librarians (대학사서의 교수지위에 관한 연구)

  • The pupose of the study is to define the concept of faculty librarian system and provide suggestions in developing the system as a professional mode suitable for academic librarianship. The background and development of the system were reviewed and the advantages and disadvantages of faculty librarian system were addressed along with the investigations of the current status of professor librarians in USA. Key issues related to a rank system. qualification. evaluation and education of faculty librarian were discussed in the light of implementing and promoting this system in domestic university libraries.

Factors Affecting Teacher Librarians' Intentions to Implement Collaborative Instruction in School Libraries (사서교사의 도서관 협력수업 실행의도 영향요인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explain the teacher librarians' intentions to implement collaborative instruction in school libraries by applying theory of planned behavior. Independent variables that affect the intention to implement were set as attitudes, subjective norms, teacher efficacy, and perceived controllability. A questionnaire survey of 218 teacher librarians was conducted. As a result of the study, there was a difference in teacher librarian's intention to implement collaborative instruction in school library according to the age, the size of school and previous experience. Attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived controllability affected the intention to implement collaborative instruction. Teacher efficacy did not affect teacher librarian's intention to implement collaborative instruction in school library. The results of the study were interpreted as a mixed method by using open-ended questions. Based on the results, implication was proposed to expand collaborative instruction in school library.

A Study on the Effects of Teacher's Experiences with School Library Programs and Collaborative Classes on Their Perceptions of the Roles of School Libraries and the Expertise of Teacher Librarians (교과교사의 학교도서관 프로그램과 협력수업 경험이 학교도서관 역할과 사서교사 전문성 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • A school library is an institution that supports the school's educational objectives through various educational activities based on information resources, and teachers' perception is essential to connect resources and users. However, most studies have been conducted based on the self-perception of teacher librarians. This study aims to understand the effect of teachers' experience of library programs and cooperative classes with the school library on their perception of the school library roles and librarian teachers' professionalism. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 78 teachers at eight national and public high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and the results were statistically analyzed using factor analysis and regression. As a result, it was found that the teachers' experiences affect their perception of the school library's roles, especially informational, educational, and cultural roles. Also, the teachers' experiences affect their perception of librarian teachers' educational support and library expertise. Based on the results, considerations in school library programs and cooperative classes were suggested to improve teachers' perception of the school library roles and librarian teachers' professionalism.

  • The roles of librarians have been changing with the paradigm shift of libraries. The paradigm of libraries has shifted from a traditional information management-centered way to a hybrid approach emphasizing a balance between collection and access. This study analyzed the internal and external changes of libraries to create Blue Ocean of special libraries by using the SWOT analysis. and adopted ERCR analysis for the reasonable management of libraries. The findings of this study indicate that the scope of role played by librarians belonging to special libraries shall be diversified from their traditional library activities in order to adapt themselves to changes in time. The Blue Ocean Strategy can be successfully developed only if the activities of libraries have been changed so that they are closely related to those activities for which such affiliate organizations are expected to carry out.

  • The school library media specialist is the information manager of school library as well as the teacher who take charge of a study. The basic knowledge of copyright law is needed to supply lawful and safe information service to students and teaching staffs in school. In order for the school library media specialist to have a copyright knowledge, the actual proof research to analyze the copyright recognition degree of school library media specialist is necessary, The survey study measured the recognition degree against copyright of school library media specialists who participate to 2006 school library media specialist 1 class qualification annual study and training process. As a result of the question analysis, the research suggested concretely Improved plans to raise the copyright recognition of school library media specialist.

A Qualitative Study on the Professional Competencies of Collection Development Librarians in Academic Libraries (대학도서관 장서개발담당 사서의 전문성 역량에 관한 질적 연구)

  • The study aims at identifying professional competencies of collection development librarians in academic libraries. For this, the study collected data through qualitative interviews with 8 librarians who are in charge of collection development programs in four-year university libraries. As a result, the professional competency components emerging from interviews were divided into three parts; knowledge in library and information science, knowledge in subject field, and professionalism. Detailed components of three parts of professional competency were divided into 13 sub-categories, with 37 meanings. It is expected that the study as an exploratory research may provide further research to design educational and training programs for collection development librarians with basic data.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of librarian's empowerment and organizational commitment on organizational effectiveness in libraries. The subjects of this study were 148 librarians of 10 libraries in Jeollabuk-do in accordance to purposeful sampling of nonprobability sampling. The statistics program that was used to achieve the purpose was SPSS pc+ 20.0. The statistics methods were used one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression test. The following conclusion were drawn from the research procedures and data analysis. First, the librarian's empowerment level and organizational effectiveness make a difference by age level. But the librarian's organizational commitment make no difference by age level. Second, the librarian's empowerment level make a difference by marital status. But the librarian's organizational commitment and effectiveness make no difference by marital status. Third, the librarian's empowerment level make a difference by career in present librarian. But the librarian's organizational commitment and effectiveness make no difference by career in present librarian. Fourth, Very a high correlation is influence factor and all of the empowerment, competence factor, and all of the empowerment. Fifth, the organizational effectiveness is affected 9.3% by librarian's empowerment, 5.6% by librarian's organizational commitment.

제36회 전국도서관대회 열려. 경주 교육문화회관서 3일간

  • 한국도서관협회(회장 이두영)는 9월 24일부터 3일간 경주교육문화회관에서 '전국도서관대회'를 개최했다. 신일희 총장(계명대)은 기조연설을 통해 시대적 사명에 복무했던 도서관의 영광을 재현할 것을 촉구했다. 그는 "도서관이 지식과 정보를 보급하는 것은 인류발전을 위해 수임받은 숭고한 사명"이라며 도서관 대중화를 위한 관계자들의 적극적인 노력을 요망했다. 특별강연과 주제발표, 세미나 등 모두 26편의 강연이 이뤄진 가운데 김포옥 교수가 주제발표한 (공공도서관장의 전문의식과 교육방향)은 앙케트를 바탕으로 도서관의 실질적인 운영자인 도서관장의 '전문가 의식'을 분석해 눈길을 끌었다. 김포옥 교수는 전국 도서관장 329명 중에 설문에 응한 188명의 응답을 바탕으로 근무경위.근무연수.사서교육이수 여부 등을 분석했다. 주목되는 대목은 도서관장의 34%가 사서자격증조차 없는 비전문가라는 점, 도서관장을 전문직으로 평가한 사람이 115명(61.2%)에 불과한 점 등이다. '도서관 일을 특별히 지망하지 않았다.'는 관장이 44%나 되어 애초부터 '전문가 의식'을 기대하는 것이 무리하는 추론도 도출했다. 김교수는 "도서관장의 전문가 의식을 키우기 위해 지속적인 교육과 직업만족도를 높이는 방안을 모색해야 할 것"이라고 주장했다. 제1주제 '도서관 정책' 방향을 모색하는 자리에서 한성택 교수(숭의여대) 등 3인은 21세기에 맞는 우리나라 도서관 정책의 기본 방향을 제고하고 도서관의 유기적 역할을 모색했다. 제2주제 '봉사'에 대해 채윤정 사서(정독도서관) 등 4인은 도서관의 서비스 실태와 향후 방향성을 논했으며, 제3주제 '운영'은 김포옥 교수(전북대) 등 4인이 도서관 운영의 현주소를 각각의 입장에서 조명했다. 마지막 주제는 '학교도서관' 활성화로, 김종성사서(부산대) 등 2인이 도서관과 학교 교육의 연계성, 학교도서관의 발전 전략 방안을 모색했다. 주제발표 논문 가운데 3편을 욕약해 싣는다.

The Factors Affecting Librarian's Multicultural Acceptance (사서의 다문화수용성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study aimed to examine multicultural acceptance of librarians and to investigate the factors affecting librarians' multicultural acceptance. For this, this study collected its data through a questionnaire conducted for the public librarians. The total 319 questionnaires were collected and 292 were finally analyzed. The results showed that the factors affecting the multicultural acceptance of the librarians were the experience of overseas residence, of multicultural service and of multicultural education. Based on the results, the ways to cultivate librarians' multicultural acceptance were discussed.

지상(紙上)블로그 - 대학도서관 사서의 대학행정부서 인사이동 동향과 득실

  • 필자는 지금부터 5개월 전인 2011년 2월 1일자로 15년간 근무한 대학도서관을 떠나 대학 기획팀으로 자리를 옮겼다. 15년이란 시간이 결코 짧지 않기에 막상 도서관을 떠나 대학행정부서로 이동한다는 사실을 받아들이는데 힘이 들었다. 평소 '사람만큼 환경에 잘 적응하는 동물도 없다'라는 말에 상당히 공감하는 편이지만, 학부기간을 포함하면 거의 20년을 넘게 함께 한 도서관 현장을 떠난다는 아쉬움과 섭섭함, 그리고 새로운 환경에 잘 적응할 수 있을까?'라는 두려움이 복잡하게 교차했었다. 특히, 사서e마을의 운영, 관리는 큰 걱정이자 숙제이다. 왜냐하면 대학행정부서에서 근무하다보면 아무래도 도서관계 동향이나 정보에 대해 무뎌질 수밖에 없고 본의 아니게 사이트 운영에 소홀해질 개연성이 높다고 하겠다. 다행스러운 점은 2010 년 5~6월경 사서e 마을의 운영시스템을 제로보드 4.0에서 제로보드 XE로 개편한 점인데, 이는 제로보드 XE가 사이트 관리에 있어 편의성, 시스템적 안정성이 이전 버전에 비해 한층 낫기 때문이다. 이미 언급한 바와 같이 대학 기획팀에서 근무한 지 겨우 5개월 지났다. 15년의 도서관 경력에 비할 바는 아니지만 최근 대학도서관 사서직원의 대학행정부서 이동이 이전에 비해 훨씬 많아진 점에 착안하여 이의 동향과 원인, 득실에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다.
