  • This study is tried to confirm the effect of practical education environment and practical stress perceived by nursing college students who have experienced clinical practice on department adaptation. The subjects of the study were 154 nursing students who experienced clinical practice at nursing universities in Area C. As a result of the study, there was a positive correlation between the practical education environment perceived by nursing students and department adaptation (r=.43, p=.001), a negative correlation between practical stress and department adaptation (r=-.15, p=.012). The practical education environment and practical stress were identified as factors influencing nursing students' adaptation to the department. Therefore, in order to positively improve the practical education environment, it is necessary to continuously train related factors that can help adapt to field practice and prepare measures to improve the practical education environment through close cooperation with practice institutions.

  • This study examined the influence of social support (social support from family, social support from friends), psychological behavioral characteristics (self-esteem, interpersonal dependency, locus of control), and stress on the depression levels of college students. The study subjects were 546 college students in D city. The survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire in October 2015. As a result, the depression levels were significantly higher in the group showing lower family and friends' social support, self-esteem, and locus of control, while it was significantly higher in the group showing higher interpersonal dependency and stress. The depression levels of the subjects showed a negative correlation with family and friends' social support, self-esteem, and locus of control, but a positive correlation with interpersonal dependency and stress. Covariance structure analysis revealed an increase in the depression levels of college students when the awareness of the stress source was higher, and when the awareness of social support or psychological behavioral characteristics was lower. These results suggest that the depression levels of college students would be increased when the social support and psychological behavioral characteristics are low, and when stress is high. In particular, it was influenced much more by stress than other factors. Therefore, to decrease the depression levels of college students, it would be necessary to put efforts to understand their main stress sources and then reduce them.

Data were collected from 312 university students by questionnaires and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The mean scores were 1.69, 1.87 and 2.21 out of 5 on Likert scales for mental health, campus life stress and employment stress, respectively. The mean score for self-esteem was 2.27 out of 4 on a Likert scale. Gender and number of close friends affected mental health significantly. Moreover, there was a negative correlation between mental health and self-esteem(r=-.426, p<0.001), while a positive correlation was observed between mental health and campus life stress (r=0.660, p<0.001), and mental health and employment stress(r=.517, p<0.001). Multiple regression analysis showed that campus life stress (${\beta}=.545$), self-esteem(${\beta}=-.145$), and employment stress (${\beta}=0.067$) affected mental health in order, and the three research variables led to a 45.2% prediction for mental health of university students. Based on the results of this study, effective systematic plans for decreasing campus life stress and employment stress and increasing self-esteem are needed to improve the mental health of university students.

The data were collected from a questionnaire distributed among 129 juniors and seniors (3rd and 4th year students) in nursing college at the G city, who were at the end of clinical practice. Multiple regression analysis found that the significant major predictors of clinical practice-related fatigue among nursing students were sleep quality (${\beta}=.30$), anxiety (${\beta}=.26$), exercise frequency (${\beta}=-.21$) and clinical practice stress (${\beta}=.19$). These variable factors could explain 33.6% of clinical practice-related fatigue among nursing students. • This study is conducted to analyze the difference among college students' department satisfaction, career maturity, and career stress, and to examine the influence of department satisfaction and career maturity on career stress. A survey was done among 824 college students using the scales on department satisfaction, career maturity, and career stress and the following results were found. First of all, department satisfaction, career maturity, and career stress had statistically significant differences based on students year, age, academic records, entrance motive, peer relation, and health condition. Secondly, the subfactors of department satisfaction, namely, course satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, general satisfaction, and recognition satisfaction, showed statistically significant differences according to age, gender, academic records, entrance motive, peer relation, and health condition. Thirdly, the subfactors of career maturity, namely, determinacy, participation, independence, tendency, and compromise, had statistically significant differences according to year and age. Lastly, career maturity and department satisfaction considerably influenced career stress: when department satisfaction and career maturity were lower, career stress was higher. These results indicate that department satisfaction and career maturity correlate with career stress. Therefore, in order to decrease career stress, college students who maintain a low level of department satisfaction and career maturity should receive active guidance and education.
