The term "objectification" has various definitions or perspectives. Nevertheless, it's pursued commonly by groups from various perspectives who emphasize the activities of becoming aware of a process as a totality, realizing that transformations can act on that totality, that is, turning processes into object. The purpose of this study is to identify how students objectify the concept of repetition regarding permutation and combination and find difficulties of objectification focusing on teacher's and students' discourse from common emphasis on previous researches associated with objectification. Students objectified the concept of repetition by replacing talk about processes with talk about objects regarding repetition and using discursive forms that presented phenomena in an impersonal way. The difficulties of objectification were derived from close linkage between the way of using keywords regarding repetition and everyday language.
This study examines the mediating effects of learned helplessness and procrastination in the relationship between covert narcissim and selfie addiction proneness among women. The study subjects were 286 women with a mean age of 23.78(SD=4.34) years. The results of the study are as follows. First, there were significantly positive correlations between covert narcissism, self-objectification, self-presentational motivation, and selfie addiction proneness. Second, covert narcissism, self-objectification, self-presentational motivation were significant predictors for selfie addiction proneness and they accounted 25.7% for variance of selfie addiction proneness. Especially, self-presentational motivation accounted for selfie addiction proneness the most. Third, mediating effect analysis showed self-objectification had partial mediation effect on the relation between covert narcissism and selfie addiction proneness and self-presentational motivation had a partial mediating effect on the relation between covert narcissism and selfie addiction proneness. It is significant for this study to define the concept of selfie addiction proneness and understand psychological variables which significantly account for it. Limitations of the study and suggestions for the future studies were discussed.
Seeing the elapsed time as a quantity that can be measured is quite challenging for students while making students see it is also challenging for teachers. Tuning on these challenges, this article reports on what learning opportunities elementary teachers provide when they teach elapsed time focusing on quantitative objectification. I observed three mathematics classrooms where the elapsed time was taught by three elementary teachers and did a narrative analysis on the instructions. All three teachers utilized certain tools to support students access to the elapsed time as a quantity. They appropriated various quantitative attributes of the tool. In the case of the analog clock, one teacher tried to quantification the elapsed time with the number of minute hand's turning, while the other teacher indicated the distance of minute hand's moving. One teacher represented the elapsed time with the longitudinal attribute of the time band. Standing on the findings, the didactical implications of various attempts for quantitative objectification of the elapsed time implemented were discussed.

This study tested the roles of public self-consciousness, body surveillance, body shame, and body dissatisfaction based on culture cultivation theory and self-objectification theory with the aim of revealing the psychological mechanisms underlying the influence of media exposure on diet intention. As a result of conducting a survey on 350 women in their twenties and performing structural equation modeling, this study found that media exposure causes public self-consciousness, which increases body surveillance and body shame, thereby increasing body dissatisfaction and thus increasing diet intention. In addition, public self-consciousness indirectly influenced body shame through body surveillance. Body surveillance was found to have an indirect effect on diet intention through body dissatisfaction, whereas body shame had a direct effect on diet intention. Based on the results, we presented theoretical and practical implications of this study and suggestions for future research.
In this study, We examined the dual path model in which entitlement rage and sexual dominance on the one of two pathway, sexual permissiveness and sexual objectification on another pathway mediated the relation between narcissism and sexual aggression. In addition, it was investigated whether alcohol use and rape myths acceptance have moderating effects in the pathways from sexual dominance and sexual objectification to sexual aggression on our path model. Data from 368 male college students in four university in Chungcheong province were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results in structural equation modeling exhibited that narcissism affected sexual aggression through mediating effects of entitlement rage and sexual dominance, and through mediating effects of sexual permissiveness and sexual objectification. Furthermore, alcohol use and rape myths acceptance only moderated the relation between sexual dominance and sexual aggression on our model. We discussed the meaning of results and the implications for further study.
The purposes of this study were to verify how internalization of ideal beauty stereotype and objectified body consciousness by sociocultural pressure factors had an influence on body satisfaction and examine the relation between body satisfaction and appearance management behavior. To achieve the purposes, a survey was conducted to 419 female adults, whose ages were from 18 to 29. Data were analyzed by structure equation modeling of Amos 4.0 and SPSS 10.0 program. The results of this study were summarized as follows: First, there were significant differences in sociocultural pressure, objectified body consciousness, internalization of ideal beauty stereotype, body satisfaction and appearance management behavior variables. Second, sociocultural pressure factors such as, family, friends, media had a positive effect on objectification that female adults saw themselves from the viewpoint of a watcher; when females more highly recognized sociocultural pressure like family, friends and media, their satisfaction with body became lower. Third, when females had high tendency of objectification and high body satisfaction, they affirmatively managed their appearance.

This study aims to explore the meaning of marital life from the point of women marriage immigrants through the phenomenological qualitative methodology by Giorgi. Results showed that the meaning of marriage life were 'love, the attraction of various colors','husband, really good person', 'the reality', 'child: stability, pleasure and hardship','husband demanding Korean women's life', 'difficult and good in-laws', 'marriage is my power', 'community beyond marriage life'. The meaning that participants experienced was living like Korean woman with really good husband in unfamiliar and afraid society. This meaning was beyond the objectified negative typification of women marriage immigrant.
Purpose: This study was to examine the fitness of a path model based on the objectification theory and to expand it by including the new variables to explain eating disorder symptomatology (EDS). Methods: The subjects consisted of 444 college women. Data was collected through self-report questionnaires that measured self-objectification (SO), social physique anxiety (SPA) and EDS as the original variables in the objectification theory, and influence of mass media (IMM) and sex-role attitude (SRA) as the new variables. Data was analyzed by SPSS/WIN 12.0 and Amos 5.0 programs. Results: IMM and SRA showed direct effect on SO. IMM had direct and indirect effect on SPA and EDS. SRA had direct and indirect effect on EDS, but only indirect effect on SPA. SO and SPA influenced EDS directly, and SO influenced indirectly EDS. Conclusion: Path analyses indicated support for the original theory and the expanded theory. It is necessary for repeated studies including various age groups of women to clarify the applicability of the objectification theory to Korean women's eating disorders. And it were recommended that we should promote womens' criticism of the image and message about the perfect female body presented in the mass media, and to highlight the relationship of gender equality to women's eating disorders in health education.
This study examines the image management behavior according to self-monitoring, self-objectification of profile-based SNS users. Questionnaires were administered to 313 SNS users including both men and women in their 20s to 30s. The SPSS 25.0 package was utilized for data analysis, which included frequency analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's ?, t-test, and regression analysis. The study analyzed self-monitoring in 2 groups (high, low), self-objectification for 2 factors (body surveillance, body shame), and image management behavior for 5 factors (fashion oriented, instrumentality, conformity, ostentation, interpersonal disposition). The results revealed: first, self-monitoring groups exhibited significant differences in self-objectification. The higher self-monitoring group was more influenced by body surveillance and body shame compared to the low self-monitoring group. Second, self-objectification had a positive influence on all the factors of image management behavior. Especially, body surveillance demonstrated a high influence on instrumentality and body shame showed a high influence on ostentation. Third, the self-monitoring groups showed significant differences in all the factors of image management behavior. The higher self-monitoring group demonstrated more influence of image management behavior compared to the low self-monitoring group. These results provide useful information in understanding the influence of social media on users' psychological attitude and consciousness toward their body and image management behavior.
Purpose : This paper introduces a computationally inexpensive context-dependent classification of multi-echo MRI with Bayes compound decision model. In order to produce accurate region segmentation especially in homogeneous area and along boundaries of the regions, we propose a classification method that uses contextual information of local enighborhood system in the image. Material and Methods : The performance of the context free classifier over a statistically heterogeneous image can be improved if the local stationary regions in the image are disassociated from each other through the mechanism of the interaction parameters defined at he local neighborhood level. In order to improve the classification accuracy, we use the contextual information which resolves ambiguities in the class assignment of a pattern based on the labels of the neighboring patterns in classifying the image. Since the data immediately surrounding a given pixel is intimately associated with this given pixel., then if the true nature of the surrounding pixel is known this can be used to extract the true nature of the given pixel. The proposed context-dependent compound decision model uses the compound Bayes decision rule with the contextual information. As for the contextual information in the model, the directional transition probabilities estimated from the local neighborhood system are used for the interaction parameters. Results : The context-dependent classification paradigm with compound Bayesian model for multi-echo MR images is developed. Compared to context free classification which does not consider contextual information, context-dependent classifier show improved classification results especially in homogeneous and along boundaries of regions since contextual information is used during the classification. Conclusion : We introduce a new paradigm to classify multi-echo MRI using clustering analysis and Bayesian compound decision model to improve the classification results.
