An Analysis of the 2017 Korean Presidential Election Using Text Mining (텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 2017년 한국 대선 분석)

  • Recently, big data analysis has drawn attention in various fields as it can generate value from large amounts of data and is also used to run political campaigns or predict results. However, existing research had limitations in compiling information about candidates at a high-level by analyzing only specific SNS data. Therefore, this study analyses news trends, topics extraction, sentiment analysis, keyword analysis, comment analysis for the 2017 presidential election of South Korea. The results show that various topics had been generated, and online opinions are extracted for trending keywords of respective candidates. This study also shows that portal news and comments can serve as useful tools for predicting the public's opinion on social issues. This study will This paper advances a building strategic course of action by providing a method of analyzing public opinion across various fields.

A Comparative Analysis between General Comments and Social Comments on an Online News Site (온라인 뉴스 사이트에서의 일반댓글과 소셜댓글의 비교분석)

  • As the individual participation in online news sites proliferates, the importance of online news comments has been increasing. Social comment services which help people leave comments on news articles using their own SNS (social networking site) accounts have gained popularity recently. Using data gathered from an online news site, this study, therefore, (1) identifies factors differentiating social comments from general comments, (2) examines how social comments are significantly different from general comments in terms of each factor, (3) and further validates how the social comments' characteristics vary among different type of SNS. Then, we investigated this study by applying t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan test of SPSS Statistics. Our results provide insights on the significant differences in all the factors between general and social comments. We also found that there is a significant difference between Facebook and Twitter groups among three types of SNS. The findings of this study would help assess the actual benefit of social comment services as they may provide us with several valuable leads to solve the malicious comments issue. Moreover, they would suggest the need to apply this service to other areas, such as online environments in private and public sectors.

The Change of Media and Emerging Journalistic Norm and Value: An exploration Based on the Young-hee Rhee's Idea (뉴미디어 환경과 언론인 직업 규범의 변화: 리영희 언론정신을 통한 탐색연구)

  • This study investigates normative role model of the journalists under the changing environment. Firstly, this article explores what pressure the new media environment gives to the journalists in their routine of news production and distribution. These are stated from the angle of epistemological, professional and interactive pressure. Next, as a reference for the standard journalism in the age of mass media, the idea of Rhee Young-hee, a late journalist who won respects from many Korean journalists, is studied. His firm belief in the pursuit of hard facts, rigorous investigative writing and expertism are spelt out. Then, this study explores how, in real term, this pressure changes the journalistic value, norm and practices in the newsroom. Ten of Koran journalists are interviewed in order to get their idea about the emerging journalistic standards under the digital environment. From this in-depth interviews, it is conclued that the pursuit of hard fact, investigative writing, expertism of Rhee Young-hee are, nonetheless the change of the media technology, still effective and provide good reference points for the enhancement of the standard of journalism in Korea. However, it is also suggested that the methods to fulfil desirable journalism in the digital age should be different from that of the mass communication age. The interviewees make propose that the journalist, as a network node, news curator or coordinator, should actively interact with the audiences facilitating their enhanced potential as a news 'prosumer'(producer and consumer).

  • With the increased interest on the document copyright, many of researches related to the document plagiarism have been done up to now. The plagiarism problem of newspaper articles has attracted much interest because the plagiarism cases of the articles having much commercial values in market are currently happened very often. Many researches related to the document plagiarism have been so hard to be applied to the newspaper articles because they have strong real-time characteristics. So to detect the plagiarism of the articles, many human detectors have to read every single thousands of articles published by hundreds of newspaper companies manually. In this paper, we firstly sorted out the articles with high possibility of being copied by utilizing OpenAPI modules supported by web search companies such as Naver and Daum. Then, we measured the document similarity between selected articles and the original article and made the system decide whether the article was plagiarized or not. In experiment, we used YonHap News articles as the original articles and we also made the system select the suspicious articles from all searched articles by Naver and Daum news search services.

  • Fake news is flooded with fake news that mixes untrue falsehoods in whole or in part. In order to create a frame for political and social purposes, news is mainly created by combining facts with fakes, or news is created for the purpose of incitement to encourage distortion and hatred. In particular, some media, including over-the-air broadcasting, are expressing their political bias in a specific direction without hesitation. Even if the press has political bias, if it is based on the delivery of facts, a trusted media environment can be achieved under the mutual checks of conservatives and progressives. The May 18 Democratic Uprising is a painful history and fact of modern history, leaving remuneration and progress. Nevertheless, there is still a view that the May 18 Democratic Uprising is regarded as 'democracy movement' and 'violence'. This study analyzed how the conservative JoongAng Ilbo and the progressive Kyunghyang Shinmun Manpyeong deal with the May 18 Democratic Uprising. The Manpyeong of the two newspapers differs greatly from the viewpoint of the May 18 Democratic Uprising. The liberal tendency of the Kyunghyang Shinmun Manpyeong has great significance in that it reveals the essence of the event and satirizes the subject. On the other hand, the conservative JoongAng Ilbo Manpyeong cannot approach the nature of the case or the object of satire due to ambiguity.

  • 기업의 성장성과 기업 주식가치를 매출, 매출원가, 영업이익율 등의 정형데이터와 경제, 경영관련 뉴스 등 비정형 데이터를 토대로 다양한 알고리즘을 활용해 분석하고, 그 결과의 유의성을 검증한다. 주성분회귀분석, 인공신경망, 나이브 베이지안 분류자, 긍/부정 사전분석 모델을 통해 분석된 결과를 검토하여 각 분석모델 별 성능을 확인하고, 기업 성장성 예측을 위해 활용 가능한 모델과 필요한 데이터를 제시한다.

  • 2018년 11월 '리그 오브 레전드' S8 파이널 폐막식장에서 Riot Games회사는 홀로그래픽 기술을 이용하여 디지털 K/DA 걸 그룹과 리얼 걸 그룹 멤버들과 함께 K/DA의 데뷔 앨범 타이틀곡 'POP/STARS'를 제작하였다. 디지털 캐릭터는 VOCALOID 기술 및 창작자의 디자인에 기반을 두지만, 디지털콘텐츠로써의 가치는 UCC 컨버전스를 통해 기존 콘텐츠의 영역을 확장하여 디지털 캐릭터의 생명력과 활용성을 확대하였다. UCC에 기반을 둔 디지털 캐릭터는 주요한 정보 기여자와 소비자가 콘텐츠를 제작함으로써 그 영역이 확대되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에는 디지털 캐릭터 콘셉트를 이용한 K/DA 걸 그룹의 캐릭터의 특성을 살펴보고, UCC를 바탕으로 K/DA 걸 그룹 데뷔 이래 뉴스, OSMU의 특성, 디지털 캐릭터의 가용성을 중심으로 사용자의 캐릭터에 대한 역할을 분석하고자 한다.

  • 2017년 가치가 급상승하며 전 세계적으로 큰 이슈를 끈 비트코인은 최근 많은 사람들의 재태크 수단으로 이용되고 있다. 그러나 비트코인은 비슷한 재태크 수단인 주식과 다르게 24시간 내내 거래되고, 기사 하나하나에 의해 가격변동의 폭이 굉장히 크다. 이는 가격이 급변하는 비트코인 시장에서 가격을 예측하는데 어렵게 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 직접적인 가격 예측은 어렵다고 판단해 비트코인 가격변동에 영향을 주는 요소들을 딥러닝 모델을 통해 일일 단위 종가 가격의 등락을 예측해 위의 요소들이 비트코인 가격변동과 상관관계를 가지는지 확인한다.

  • The monthly news and culture magazine, 'Sasanggye,' established by Jang Jun-ha from 1953 to 1970, served as a platform for government criticism and intellectual representation. The magazine created photographic-essays covering a variety of topics and utilized images as a visually impactful tool with news value. This paper aims to critically examine the photographic-essays within 'Sasanggye' as archival records, shedding light on their intrinsic value. Before delving into this assessment, the paper thoroughly explores the developmental process and characteristics of these photographic-essays. And based on the content divisions within the main text, the paper categorized the themes captured in the photographic essays into politics, economics, society, culture, and miscellaneous topics. It then introduced representative photographicessays. From an archival perspective, looking at photographs involves elucidating that photographs carry meanings beyond mere data. The photographic essays in 'Sasanggye' serve as photographic records providing evidence of 1960s Korean society and encapsulating crucial visual information. Furthermore, the photographic essays in 'Sasanggye' hold a historical significance in the aspect of Korean magazine documentary photography. The photo-essays in 'Sasanggye' carry worth in the history of photography and encompass evidential and informational values as photographic records.

Business Strategies of Japanese Newspaper Companies: Top-level Managers' Perception and Reacting toward the Newspaper Crisis (일본 신문기업의 경영전략 연구: 경영진의 위기인식과 대응책을 중심으로)

  • This paper reviews the problems and opportunities of Japanese newspaper industry. In the focus are particularly issues related to causes of the crisis and reacting strategies overcoming the crisis. To answer the questions, we conducted in-depth interviews with top-level managers of major newspaper companies in Japan. Secondary data were gathered to complement the interview. Top managers mainly perceived the causes of the crisis as young readers' alienation from newspaper due to the change of media environment and structural factors such as increasing production/distribution costs and diminishing appeals for advertisers. They are implementing several strategies to overcome this crisis - developing newspaper content for young readers; packaging customized on-off line advertisement; extending news distribution via online and mobile platforms; diversifying business into diverse sectors such as real-estate; enhancing brand equity of newspaper; and collaborating with rival newspaper companies in operating news site and joint printing/distribution. Lessons from the case of Japanese newspaper industry may be useful starting points for the Korean newspaper companies agonizing for diminishing circulation and advertising revenues.
