  • A national curriculum must be organized with consideration given to the equality of education in all aspects. In addition, educational equality must be discussed from the standpoint of fairness in addition to uniformed identity. This study was conducted with a goal to analyze and examine how China's informatics curriculum takes into consideration equality and excellence. It has been found that China's compulsory curriculum takes into consideration equality to give the same opportunity of education to all students, and that high school education is implemented from the perspective of excellence to reflect students' needs and abilities. Therefore, this study suggests considerations to be made in the discussion of software education that is being carried out at the moment and also for the formation of the respective curriculum.

  • The addition and subtraction relationship and the multiplication and division relationship are explicitly dealt with in second and third grade mathematics textbooks. However, these relationships are not discussed anymore in the problem situations and activities in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade mathematics textbooks. In this study, we investigate the calculation principles of subtraction and division in the elementary school mathematics textbooks. Based on our investigation, we justify the addition and subtraction relationship and the multiplication and division relationship at the level of children's understanding so that we discuss some problem situations and activities where the relationships can be applied to subtraction and division. In addition, we suggest educational implications that can be obtained from children's applying the relationships and the properties of equations to subtraction and division.

  • This study examined the effects of work values and the career decision level on the major commitment of the university students majoring in social welfare. For this purpose, a survey of 351 undergraduate students majoring in social welfare at 4 universities located in Kangwon-do was conducted and the data were analyzed. The work values consisted of intrinsic values and extrinsic values. The career decision level was measured by the career decision scale (CDS) and the major commitment was measured by the flow state scale (FSS). The research findings are as follows. First, the career decision level (3.43) and major commitment (3.58) of the university students majoring in social welfare were slightly higher than the mid-point on the 5 point Likert scale. In addition, the intrinsic work value (4.05) were higher than the extrinsic work value (3.34). Second, the intrinsic work values and career decision level were positively correlated with the major commitment. Third, the extrinsic work value had a negative effect on the major commitment (${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001); however, the intrinsic work value (${\beta}=.31$, p<.001) and career decision level (${\beta}=.18$, p<.001) had a positive effects on the major commitment. This paper also discusses the theoretical and practical implications for university student's work values, career decision level, and major commitment based on the research findings.

  • The research on resource sharing in the diversification field is concerned mainly with sharing, but there has been little interest in resources. This research examined resource sharing with the main variables and logics of resource-based view. Based on a survey of 263 affiliates of 35 diversified firms, the impacts of resource quantity, resource quality, and resource exploitability on inter-affiliate resource sharing were hypothesized and verified. To confirm the performance implications of resource sharing, the impacts of the combination of resource quantity and resource sharing, the combination of resource quality and resource sharing, and the combination of resource exploitability and resource sharing on the affiliate performance were also hypothesized and verified. According to the empirical results from multiple regression analyses, resource sharing increases in the order of low resource quantity, high resource quality, and high resource exploitability. The performance was advanced in resource sharing under a low resource quantity and resource sharing under high resource exploitability, but it was not advanced in resource sharing under high resource quality. The results highlight the need for a further study on why the resource quality and resource exploitability affect resource sharing in the opposite directions, as expected in the hypotheses, why resource sharing under high resource quality does not lead to high performance, even though resource quality increases resource sharing, and what they would be if resources are subdivided by the types.

  • Chemistry focuses on explaining macroscopic phenomena at the microscopic level with particles, such as atoms or molecules. Explanation using particles are bound to be considered as abstract by students, because it was dealing with invisible objects. For that reason, the science national curriculum presented to middle school students the explanation of the units related to the composition of matter. Therefore, understanding about the composition of matter in middle school students becomes an important basis for learning of chemistry, and it is necessary to investigate their understanding about composition of matter. In this study, students' understanding about 'composition of matter' region, which is first presented to middle school students, was confirmed at an overall level. In this line, this study analyzed the results of the items in the composition of matter region, and analyzed items were used in the National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) from 2015 to 2019. We analyzed the 9 items presented in the NAEA according to the response rate of options and response rate distribution curve, and explained the characteristics of understanding derived by each achievement level were examined. According to the analyzed results by dividing the conceptions about elements, atoms, and ions, students above the proficient achievement-level had scientific conceptions overall, but students below the basic achievement-level had inconsistent or naive conceptions. Based on the results for each item, this study discussed some implications to be considered or to be improved on teaching-learning for 'composition of matter'.

  • This study examined how social withdrawal as an individual factor and discrimination as a contextual factor contributed to depression caused by peer victimization among middle school students. Self-reported data of 1,611 students from 86 classrooms in 7 middle schools was analyzed, using multilevel path analysis. The results indicate that peer victimization had a significant partial mediating effect on the relation between social withdrawal and depression at the individual level. Social withdrawal had a direct positive effect on depression as well as an indirect positive effect on depression via high levels of peer victimization. Discrimination also positively predicted peer victimization at the classroom level. Moreover, classroom-level discrimination moderated the individual-level relations between social withdrawal and peer victimization. The relation between social withdrawal and peer victimization was much stronger as the levels of discrimination in the classroom were higher. These findings shed light on the importance of considering both individual and contextual factors when intervening to prevent peer victimization.

  • Gifted education has drawn much attention in education in recent years and gifted education in computers in elementary education has been emerged as well throughout the country. Now computer algorithm education is considered as a core subject in the area because computer algorithm is the essence of computer technology on which information society relies technically, and also it provides theoretical basis for problem solving using computers. And we observe that fostering learner's creativity is crucial in learning computer algorithms because problem solving requires creativity in general. In the paper, we discuss the procedure to foster learner's creative problem solving ability which would greatly help students learn computer algorithms, and then we discuss how we can make algorithmic ideas into reality. Furthermore, we note that an appropriate level education is necessary for better results for outstanding students in the program, and lastly we propose ideas to improve current gifted elementary education in computers. The content of the paper is largely originated from experiences of teaching gifted elementary students conducted by a local university and sponsored by its municipal government for six years.

  • Mathematics educators oriented to reform-based curricular have asserted that mathematics teachers should lead instructions where all students in their classrooms are able to participated. In this paper, some practices for them to implement it are discussed. Before explaining them, some discussions are made about students ability to construct knowledge. One of them is that teachers should know different learners construct different understandings because of their differences of prior knowledge and reasoning ability. Also, it was discussed that teachers consider classroom environments, assigning children's sitting and tasks in the light of learning. The reason to state them is that perspectives of them should be changed. Finally, "Teacher's careful listening to learners' responses", "Why do think in that way?, How do you know?, What is it meant?", "accepting ideas from all learners", "no supporting a particular idea", "utilizing waiting time", and "teacher's responses to learner's errors and mistakes" are discussed as practices for letting all learners be participated in the mathematics instruction.
