The study focuses on the relationship between the desire for economic activity and happiness among the elderly living alone. Qualitative research was conducted as a research method. Research participants were either go to the elderly community wellness center or volunteer at the center. The results were: First, it turned out that enjoying different programs and socializing with others at the community wellness center and the health of family were the factors of happiness to the elderly living alone. Second, the difference on the desire on economic activity among the elderly living alone was significant. Three groups could be categorized: the elderly who wants economic income through jobs, others who were wealthy, and others who do not struggle with their finance but wanted to continue their economic activity through part-time jobs. In average, the desire for economic activity was high but they wanted 2 - 3 hours of labor per day, considering their physical condition. In case of income, there were two groups, who desperately wants more income, and others who feel their income is sufficient. This study suggested a virtuous cycle of government support policies to the elderly living alone in economic and psychological perspectives.

This study is conducted to activate the education of leisure activity for the old age so as to improve the qualities of the lives in the prolonged elderly lives. The method is examined to see how the level and types of leisure activities and life satisfaction for elderly. The target of the survey for this study was the 280 male and female elderly living in S city and C city. the statistics used for data analysis were reliability, frequency, percentage, mean standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA and correlation. The results of study were as follow; First, the result investigating the degrees of old people's participation in the pattern of leisure activities and life satisfaction showed pastime activities and family centered activities as the most participating leisure activity pattern, self developing activities and religious social service activities as the least participating one. Second, in comprehensive social demographic characteristic of the elderly participating in the leisure activities pattern, it was shown that the higher their level of lives was, the better their family atmosphere was, the healthier they were, they participated more in their leisure activities. Third, when the life satisfaction were reviewed to find what relation there were according to the pattern of leisure activities, it was shown that the more they participated in recreation and social activities, the more they participated in self developing activities, the more they participated in family centered activities, their life satisfaction was higher. and the old people who did the pastime activities showed high life satisfaction too. Considering this result, we need to develop systematic programs suited to our culture. In addition, Home Economics Education has to support the ideas and leisure experts have to be cultivated.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of staffs' general characteristics and institutional characteristics on the staff members' recognition of the level of ethical management in the elderly welfare institutions and to provide basic materials for raising standard of ethical management in the elderly welfare institutions. For this purpose, we conducted a questionnaire survey using structured self-filling-type questionnaires for 245 staffs of elderly welfare institutions in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. This study sets general characteristics of staffs and institutional characteristics as the independent variables and the staff members' recognition of the level of ethical management as the dependent variable. The variables are investigated through the descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage and average analysis, and the difference of effect on the staff members' recognition of ethical management in the elderly welfare institutions by each independent variable was analysed by t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study shows that in terms of general characteristics of staffs, the higher male to female ratio and the higher educational level; and in institutional characteristics, the less experience in basic ethics education and the better ethical working environment of the institution are the positive factors for that the staff members estimate the level of ethical management of their workplace high. Based on these results, for making staff members recognize the level of ethical management in the elderly welfare institutions higher, we should create actual atmosphere of the ethical working environment in the institution and implement not formal but step-by-step intensive ethics education that make employees can apply it in the real situations. In conclusion, this study gives the practical suggestions for improving the staff members' recognition of ethical management level in the practice field of elderly welfare on the fast-changing trends including downsizing and privatization.
This study conducted a longitudinal analysis to identify the impact of social capital on depression trajectories in later life. For data analysis, the Korean welfare panel data(2006-2012) was utilized and 4001 older adults aged 65 and older were included in the final sample. The results showed that social trust was significantly associated with depression scores at baseline but did not predicted the rate of change in depression over time. A higher level of reciprocity significantly predicted the faster decline in depression over time. For social participation through donation or volunteer, the percentage of participation was very low and it was not significantly related to depression trajectories. Finally as the satisfaction from social relationship becomes more positive, the rate of change in depression tended to decline faster over time. The results of this study indicates that in order to prevent or delay depression in later life, we should help older adults accumulate positive social capital such as social trust and reciprocity through active social interaction.
The purpose of this study is to analyze how to utilize sports cooperatives that can be a pleasure to work and add living expenses through sports as a model for creating jobs for the elderly. To this end, after reviewing the literature and expert survey using Delphi techiques for 9 sports experts and 4 cooperative experts, the following conclusions were drawn analyzing with Excel, SPSS V28, and AHP analysis Dress V 1.7 program First, as a model for creating jobs for the elderly, the economic factors, social factors, institutional factors, and middle categories 10 factors and sub-categories 36 factors were derived from the major categories for the utilization of sports cooperatives. Second, through senior sports cooperatives, economic activities generate income, and volunteer and talent-sharing activities provide opportunities for physical and mental health and social participation. And, as corporations, they can expand profit-making projects through government and local government collaboration and partnership projects, contributing to solving issues related to the elderly. In the future, follow-up studies are needed to explore the needs, satisfaction, problems, improvement plans, utilization plans, and development directions of sports cooperatives in the sports field.
Purpose: This research was done to analyze factors influencing satisfaction level with welfare services by elderly people living in a mixed urban and rural area and to identify directions for improvement of service by examining characteristics of the recipients, type and content of services and the correlation between the level of satisfaction and related factors. Method: The 102 elderly people receiving services from 4 institutions in a mixed urban and rural area were selected. The results of the research include the following. Results: First general characteristics of the service-recipients, and the actual condition of the service; Second, correlation between satisfaction level of the recipients and their economic condition, health condition and activities of daily living; Third, analysis of level of satisfaction related to type of services, frequency, time required, desire of the recipients and their attitudes; Fourth, satisfaction and related factors were identified and used to identify possible problems and directions to improve service. Conclusion: The results suggest the following as ways to improve service and to increase the level of satisfaction 1) Individualization of services 2) Improvement in the way of selecting recipients 3) Reinforcement of special training courses for service providers.

The purpose of this study is to understand attributes, stress and burnout related to job environment of healthcare facilities workers for the aged, care-givers, analyze the effect of these factors on job satisfaction, and improve their organizational task to help advance the quality of life and the healthcare facilities for the aged. A survey was made on 129 care-givers working in the healthcare facilities for the aged(care facilities, in-home facilities for the aged) located in Jeonbuk Gunsan area. This study showed that sub-factors of care-givers' job environment such as human environment, compensation system and job expertise have a significant effect on the job burnout, stress and satisfaction. This means that a well-organized compensation system, which is proportionate to the job expertise and ability for human environment, and achievement of innovative thinking, will make a positive relationship, reduce the job burnout and stress, and improve the job satisfaction at the same time. Compared to the rapid increase of old aged patients for long-term care and care-givers' real role and job in the facilities, the job specialization has to be guaranteed to improve job environment of care-givers as various beneficial workers for welfare - professional workers - and the compensation system needs to be properly systematized according to their job capacity. Consequently, the production and participation of professionals with high self-esteem may raise organizational commitment through the maximization of job satisfaction by the participation and devotion to the organization of more professionals by removing factors, which can reduce the frequent job burn-out and stress of care-givers.

Most elderly have difficulties in managing food safety and nutrition by themselves. Various nutrition educations for the elderly have been developed, but food safety and nutrition education program and educational tools for the elderly are very limited. The aim of the study was to evaluate a food safety and nutrition education program based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) for the elderly. Education program was implemented for 220 seniors (137 educated group and 83 control group) aged over 65 years at senior welfare community centers. The intervention study was carried out on a weekly basis during each of 5 weeks, and each session lasted about 35 or 40 minutes. The effectiveness of the program was assessed with a questionnaire before and after education. Education program consisted of a 5 week program, and topics were 'Dietary changes for the elderly's healthy life', 'Prevention of food poisoning in everyday life', 'Safe food handling for my health', 'Healthy dietary life to prevent chronic disease', and 'Safety! nutrition! healthy dietary life'. Education program materials such as slides, handouts, videos, leaflet, and booklets were developed. As a result, there were score improvements in knowledge, dietary behaviors, and health belief after intervention in the intervention group, which were higher than those of the control group. In particular, there was a meaningful interrelation between dietary behavior and health belief (r=0.520, P<0.001). This finding suggests that changing beliefs is very important to make desirable dietary behavioral changes. For this reason, we can conclude HBM theory is an effective model to educate nutrition and food safety for the elderly. Furthermore, food safety and nutrition education programs are implemented and delivered continuously at various settings such as a health center or community welfare center, and those will contribute significantly to enhance perception and change their desirable dietary behaviors for the elderly.

The purpose of this study is to prepare and present a plan for the elderly service, in which the elderly become service providers and beneficiaries for the elderly who have emerged as the main library users in the face of a post-aged society. As a result of a survey of 119 elderly users of public libraries in the Busan area and an interview with a focus group of librarians at G Library, it was confirmed that the elderly service was needed. The most necessary services in terms of the beneficiaries of the Elderly Services by Elderly were surveyed in the order of computer information search help service, library usage guide service, book search method guide service, and recommended or popular book guide service. In terms of 'Elderly Services by Elderly' providers, the willingness to participate was the highest among those in their 60s, and the preferred method of participation was paid volunteer work three times a week, within four hours a day. Accordingly, it was analyzed that participants were recruited in connection with the social contribution activities of the government employment program for the elderly and prior training was necessary. In addition, the need for the creation of a community space for the elderly and the participation of retired librarians was raised.
This study studied the life experiences of story grandmother activities on the meaning of a happy life and positive growth for the elderly through phenomenology. This study period was conducted with pre-interviews from March 2021, and research was conducted until July 2022. As for the research method, 9 elderly women were selected as a Colaizzi phenomenological research method suitable for the work of exploring and understanding life as it is, and the following conclusions were drawn. First, the happiness experience of the elderly provides a life that responds to positive changes, gives positive meaning, and actively discovers in a desire-ful life, a comparative life, and a adaptation and coping happy life. Second, the elderly experienced the meaning of life by experiencing the happiness of moments in the self-realized life of the upward · downward theory. Third, the growth of the elderly is a happy change in PERMAS of positive psychology, pursuing life with positive emotions, immersion, and positively related meaning and purpose of life, and growing while looking at life with achievement and strength. Since this study targets elderly women aged 65 or older who are engaged in story grandmother activities, there is a limit to generalizing the research results, so it is suggested to study the growth process of more diverse age groups and various types of volunteer activities in the future.
