  • If neither a map, nor geographic-information processing equipment or a micro browser was prepared in a move terminal in the case of the old system, traffic guidance processing was not able to be carried out. Even if this system was required and did not carry out above -mentioned equipment or an above-mentioned system with a move terminal or a cellular phone, it could be made to do it. Traffic information guidance processing is possible to be completed only by the general telephone or electronic mail transmission.

  • Recently, the wide spread popularity of smart phones causes the advent of various mobile applications base on the location information. Since previous pedestrian navigations are applied by extending car navigations, these are not only difficult to provide the appropriate route information, but also raise limitations in the efficient query processing by data structures of car road networks. In addition, these increase the power consumption caused by the growth of I/O frequency. In this paper, we propose a pedestrian road network model for the accurate route information and a storage structure for the pedestrian road network based on POI to reduce the I/O frequency. The proposed method enables efficient route searches over POI reflecting the characteristics and requirements of pedestrian roads. Also, a reduction of query processing costs for the route searching by a data structure considered with POI can save the power consumption more than previous approaches.

  • This paper is a study on the design and realization of Pedestrian navigation service system for the visually impaired. As it is an user interface considering visually impaired, voice recognition functioned smartphone was used as the input tool and the Osteoacusis headset, which can vocally guide directions while recognizing the surrounding environment sound, was used as the output tool. Unlike the pre-existing pedestrian navigation smartphone apps, the developed system guides walking direction by the scale of the left and right stereo sound of the headset wearing, and the voice guidance about the forked or curved path is given several meters before according to the speed of the user, and the user is immediately warned of walking opposite direction or proceeding off the path. The system can acquire stable and reliable directional information using the motion tracker with the dynamic heading accuracy of 1.5 degrees. In order to overcome GPS position error, we proposed a robust trajectory planning algorithm for position error. Experimental results for the developed system show that the average directional angle error is 6.82 degrees (standard deviation: 5.98) in the experimental path, which can be stated that it stably navigated the user relatively.

  • In our modern society, the utilization of the advanced drone which is capable of performing variety of tasks has been gradually increasing. In this paper, we present an application, similar to the prototype "Skycall" that had been introduced in the MIT Senseable City. To assess this concept, we have implemented a prototype of drone-based pedestrian navigation depending on the Android smartphone. Our system is not only able to guide the user in a very complicated place, where buildings are compacted, but also to block unauthorized visitors from accessing the facilities. And we discuss some problems we found and suggest the direction to address them.

  • In this paper, we propose a mobile navigation application that allows a user to send location data to another user using the iPhone's GPS function and Mapkit framework. The GPS function of the iPhone detects the location of the first user and the Mapkit framework shows the first user location on Google Maps. If the second user requires guidance to a destination, the first user touches the record button on the proposed application to record his or her position. The first user can check his or her recorded location from the pin position on Google Maps, and he or she can then send the relevant information to the second user who wants to visit that location. The second user receives the location data and is guided to the destination easily by following the next position icon on the iPhone camera overlay or by following the pin position on Google Maps. Therefore, even if a user is traveling somewhere for the first time, the proposed application guides that user to his or her destination by receiving recorded location data from another user.

  • An app based on the augmented reality and QR codes is developed in this paper. This app is for guidance to the harbor and management the facilities in ships. Using the smart device app people could receive guidance the course to visit Mokpo harbor and information for the port and ship's facilities. Through the utilization of smart devices, the app is easy to find the desired destination to and provide the convenience of tourists. In addition, by using the QR code people could see an explanation of the ship's facilities and write the inspection reports for the facilities.

  • Rapid increasing of smartphones has changed people's lifestyles, and location-based services are providing a platform to provide various conveniences in accordance with these changes. In particular, it may provide convenience to many users if location-based services are provided in an indoor area such as subway station. However, it is still a difficult task to ensure accurate positioning result for guiding routes in subway stations. This study proposes a KAI-R system that allows all processes to be performed in one system for indoor navigation in subway stations. The proposed system includes a new pedestrian step detection method for continuous positioning along with an improved fusion positioning algorithm.
