  • As the social responsibility of corporations becomes more important, recently, many corporations have made constant efforts to preserve natural environment. Environmental investments had been traditionally thought as cost factors and sources of negative effects on a firm's financial performances. In this study, we explore the relation of financial and environmental performances of Korean corporations. We use default probability as well as ROE as indicators of financial performances. We find that there is positive correlation between ROE and environmental performance, and negative correlation between default probability and environmental performance. This implies that Korean corporations should recognize environmental investment as means of improving corporate value.

The strategic models of localization are divided by management aspects such as the localization of product and sourcing, the localization of human resources, the localization of marketing, the localization of R&D, harmony with a local community and delegation of authority between headquarters and local subsidiaries. The results, by comparing and analyzing the success and failures case for localization of individual companies operating in India, indicate that in terms of localization of product and sourcing, there are successful companies which procure a components locally and produce a suitable model which local consumers prefer and the failed companies which can not meet local consumers' needs. In case of localization of human resources, most companies recognize the importance of this portion and make use of superior human resource aggressively through a related education. In case of localization of marketing, It is found that the successful companies perform pre-market research & management and build a effective marketing skills & after service network and select local business partner which has a technical skills and carry out a business activities, customer support, complaint handling with their own organization. In terms of localization of R&D, the successful major companies establish and operate R&D center to promote a suitable model for local customers. In part of harmony with a local community, it shows that companies which made a successful localization understand the cultural environment and contribute to the community through CSR. In aspect of delegation of authority between headquarters and local subsidiaries, it is found that most of Korean companies are very weak for this part. there is a tendency to be determined by the head office rather than local subsidiaries. Implication of this thesis is that Korean enterprises in India should carry forward localization of products and components, foster of local human resource who recognize management and system of company and take part in voluntary market strategy decision, wholly owned subsidiary, establishment and operation of R & D center, understanding of local culture and system, corporate social responsibility, autonomy in management.

  • Quality is an important factor influencing organizational performance, so it should be possible to accurately and effectively measure the quality perceived by members. The Consumer Cooperative can be seen as a retail industry by industry classification, and there are various studies based on the dimension of retail quality, but compared to the general retail industry, few studies have been conducted based on the quality level perceived by members. The purpose of this study is to develop quality dimensions and sub-attributes by analyzing in detail and elaborately how the quality of cooperative is viewed from the perspective of members who are both consumers and owners. To this end, the quality dimension of cooperative quality is needed to be newly developed and quality components are demonstrated based on previous studies on the quality dimension. The quality dimension of the cooperative was developed through prior research to suit the value of the cooperative in product, service, and social responsibility, and a survey was conducted to demonstrate the four major cooperative members in Korea. Through this, sub-dimensions were constructed and the quality dimension of the high-order model was demonstrated through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. It aims to discover key management elements in terms of quality management and provide practical implications to management.

  • This study analyzes the development process of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies in Korea and corporate response strategies, comparing them with cases from major countries. The results show that while Korea has established a basic framework for ESG policies through the K-ESG guidelines and plans for mandatory ESG disclosure, these policies lack the specificity and enforceability seen in major countries. In terms of corporate response, large companies are actively formulating ESG strategies, but strengthening ESG capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) remains an urgent task. Industry-specific ESG strategies reflect the characteristics of each sector, such as carbon neutrality in manufacturing, expansion of responsible investment in finance, and enhanced data security in IT. This study suggests improving Korean ESG policies by enhancing the alignment of ESG disclosure standards with international norms, strengthening tailored support for SMEs, and developing industry-specific policies. For effective corporate ESG response, the study proposes strategic integration of ESG, enhanced communication with stakeholders, and improved ESG data management capabilities.

  • This research analyzes the recent phenomenon of pursuing public benefit in fashion enterprises according to the increasing importance of corporate social responsibility attitudes towards the global sustainability crisis. The pursuit of public benefit in fashion enterprises has been realized by the activities that contribute to public welfare through one or plural corporations aligned with government, social corporations, and NGOs. The goals of public beneficial activities are to promote public issues and to support the underprivileged and communities both financially and voluntarily. Such activities can be categorized as philanthropy, sponsorship, social marketing, cause-related marketing, and public benefit product development. Especially public beneficial activities in fashion enterprises are featured as the charity donations of apparel products, the collaboration with fashion celebrities and artists in relation with popular culture and art, the limited edition of excellent design with slogans, and the visual campaigns to promote public issues. They deal with human right issues for the underprivileged and disease prevention issues. In addition, specially environmental issue and community trade issues (often raised in the fashion manufacturing and consuming process) are increasing.
