Understanding No Gun Ri Records from the Perspective of Social Memory (노근리 사건의 사회적 기억과 기록에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to identify and analyze how the No Gun Ri massacre records are incorporated in social memory. As a theoretical study, it discusses the characteristics of social records. First, they are social products that have an influence on personal memory. Second, they reflect variability of memory. Third, they can be used in proving an event. To analyze the memory and records of the No Gun Ri massacre, this study overviews the outline of the killings and divides it into three eras: countermemory era, memory struggle era, and formal memory era. Furthermore, this study reviews the transformation process and characteristics of each era. The representative records produced in each era are as follows: oral, and personal records in the first period; records related to committee activities, legislative activities, and research activities in the second period; and official records on the special law, and the construction and operation of a peace park in the third period. The third period shows the scalability of the records through a variety of cultural records production to remember the No Gun Ri incident.

A Study on the Everyday Life and Social Memory Constructed in (Hirokazu Koreeda, 1995) (고레에다 히로카즈의 <환상의 빛>에 구성된 일상과 사회적 기억에 관한 연구)

  • This article has attempted to explore the topic of everyday life and memory based on theoretical and methodological discussions on daily life, everydayness, sociology of everyday life, memory, social construction of memory, and social memory. In order to do this, Koreeda Hirokazu's debut feature film (Hirokazu Koreeda, 1995) which inquires about the encounters and separations, life and death in everyday life was selected as a research subject. According to the results, structured with 61 scenes talked that Yumiko's daily life was shattered in an instant due to Ikuo's death and her memory was also fragmented. But after that, her social memory can reconstruct a new daily life through the 'light' of will or hope for life. Hirokazu Koreeda tried to confirm that human encounters and partings, life and death are daily life itself or a part of it through 'light' such as sunlight and moonlight, street lamps and electric lamps in this film.

Designing Handheld Learning Tool Based On Cognitive Load Theory (인지 부하 이론에 기초한 PDA 기반 학습 프로그램 설계 연구)

  • The purpose of the study is to develop handheld learning tool based on design principles drawn from cognitive load theory. To optimize learner's cognitive load, the learning program should be developed for maximizing the effective load and(or) minimizing ineffective load. The principles, which were applied to developing the learning program, for minimizing the extraneous cognitive load, one of the ineffective loads, are modality, redundancy, split-attention, multimedia, and worked-out example. In this study, we will show possibilities for designing an effective mobile learning program.

Differences in rat's behavioral propensity about learning and memory or drug effect . (Rat의 행동성향에 따른 학습 및 기억 능력 차이와 약물 효과 반응에 대한 연구)

  • 사람에게 행동의 개인차가 있듯이 rat이나 mouse에 있어서도 행동의 차이를 발견할 수 있다. Rat의 행동성향에 따른 (1)학습 및 기억 능력의 차이, (2)기억과 해마의 관계, (3)치매유발단백질의 하나로 알려진 아밀로이드 베타($A{\beta}$ )및 수종의 항 치매 약물효과를 알아보는 것이 본 실험의 목적이다. Rat의 행동관찰을 통해 두 가지 행동패턴을 관찰할 수 있었는데, 이러한 rat의 행동 특성은 심리학자 Jung이 심리유형으로 설명하고 있는 extraversion, introversion의 행동성향과 유사할 것이라는 가정 하에 실험을 계획, 실시하였다. Rat에 water maze test를 실시하여 공간 기억의 단기, 장기 기억을 분석하였는데 그 결과 두 가지 행동 성향을 가진 rat은 서로 다른 학습 및 기억 능력의 특성을 보였다. 즉, extraversion은 단기 기억의 향상을 보인 반면에, introversion은 장기 기억의 향상을 보였다. Rat을 대상으로 water maze test 외에 Y-maze, passive avoidance test를 실시하여 공간 기억(spatial memory), 작동 기억(working memory), passive avoidance memory, 그리고 단기, 장기 기억의 관계를 종합적으로 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 두 가지 행동성향에 따라 서로 영향을 미치는 기억의 종류 및 관계에 차이가 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 또한 두 가지 행동성향을 가진 rat에 약물을 투여했을 때, 서로 다른 약물 효과를 보였으며, $A{\beta}$ 를 주입했을 때, 기억(memory) 및 해마(hippocampus) 세포 사멸(cell death)에 서로 상반된 결과를 보여주었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 개체의 행동성향에 따라 학습 및 기억의 효과가 다를 수 있음을 보여주는 결과라 할 수 있고, 개인의 적성과 소질의 인식 및 개발의 중요성에 시사하는 바가 크다. 또한 개개인의 행동과 학습 및 기억 능력의 차이를 두뇌과학적으로 이해하여, 두뇌의 장점은 살리고 단점을 보완할 수 있는 이론적 토대를 세우는데 이러한 동물실험이 그 기초를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한 행동성향 및 기억의 종류에 따른 약물효과의 차이는 기억과 관련된 질병인 알츠하이머 환자에 있어 개개인에게 맞는 적절한 특징적인 치료약물이 존재할 것이라는 가능성을 제공해줄 뿐만 아니라 학습과 기억력 증진 효과를 기대해 볼 수 있을 것이라고 생각된다.

A Review of the Debates between Fixed-Resolution Slot and Flexible-Resource Models (시각작업기억 표상에 대한 고정해상도 슬롯 모형과 탄력적 자원 모형 사이의 쟁점에 대한 개관)

  • The presnt study reviewed two contrasting models, fixed-resolution slot versus flexible-resource hypotheses, for the representational characteristics of visual working memory (VWM), and emphasized the necessary efforts for resolving their conflicting arguments. To accomplish this goal, the review explored the background hypotheses of the object-based versus parallel independent storage models, and introduced theoretical bases for their contrasting claims. The review then evaluated validity of empirical evidence provided in the studies to support each model, and attempted an understanding of their neurophysiological background. The study further emphasized the necessity of theoretical and methodological reconsiderations to resolve their conflict as well as the necessity of obtaining converging pieces of evidence to accomplish the resolution.

Transactive Memory System of a Virtual Team : Theoretical Exploration and Empirical Examination (가상 팀의 교류활성기억 시스템과 팀 성과의 관계 : 가상 팀 속성을 선행요인으로)

  • A virtual team is defined a group of people that use electronic communications for some or all of their interactions with other team members. Because team members of a virtual team are physically and temporally distributed, a team's transactive memory system(TMS) is considered to be crucial for the team's effectiveness and performance. TMS refers to a set of individual memory systems which integrate knowledge possessed by particular members through a shared awareness of who knows what. This paper seeks to understand (1) how a virtual team's TMS influences team performance, and (2) what factors contribute to developing the team's TMS. Given these purposes, through the extensive literature review, we first identified components and antecedents to develop a theoretical model that predicts a virtual team's performance. Using the survey data gathered from 172 virtual teams, this study found that expertise location, coordination, and cognition-based trust which were proposed as three components of TMS positively influenced a virtual team's performance. Furthermore, this study uncovered that perceived media richness, network tie strength, and shared norms significantly influenced the components of TMS, while geographical dispersion did not exert any significant influence on TMS.

분산 시스팀에서 휴리스틱 태스크 할당 및 이동을 이용한 부하균형 방법

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 정적인 스케쥴링 모델 즉, 그래프 이론, 정수 프로그래밍 그리고 휴리스틱 모델에 근거한 알고리즘들의 사례를 소개하고 분석하였으며 정적인 스케쥴링 알고리즘의 단점을 보완할 수 있고 고장허용구조를 지원할 수 있는 FAME 알고리즘을 제시하였다. FAME은 정적인 휴리스틱 알고리즘과 동적인 스케쥴링 알고리즘으로 구성되며 부하균형과 기억공간 크기 그리고 최소 통신비용 조건을 만족하고 태스크간 간섭비용을 도입함으로써 태스크간 통신 비용에 의해 나타날 수 있는 태스크들의 동시성 수행 정도의 감소를 방지할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 기억공간 크기와 간섭비용의 조합은 테스크들이 일부 프로세서에만 할당되는 현상을 방지할 수 있다.

The Aesthetic Experience in the Landscape of Memory (기억의 경관에서 미적 경험)

  • This study aims to interpret the current landscape design of the place and landscape of memory, such as post-industrial parks and memorials that have an old, aging appearance from an aesthetic perspective. The objects of the study are large parks and open spaces that have collective memories for visitors. Visitors' aesthetic experience from these places and landscapes of memory could be explained by aesthetic concepts such as the sublime, nostalgia, and melancholy. Because these aesthetic concepts are associated with past traumas, visitors may be affected morbidly. However, due to the capability of the media to form an aesthetic experience when visitors visit a given place and landscape, visitors can autonomously adjust the distance to the place of memory and gain an aesthetic experience. The aesthetic experiences through the sublime, nostalgia, and melancholy are based on temporality and irreversibility. Temporality here refers to a characteristic of memory, and time in the place and landscape of memory and is based on the irreversibility of time, as time cannot go back. Both the place memory and the memory that is recalled from the combination with visitor's past memories and knowledge are two major factors involved in the construction of the aesthetic experience in the place and landscape of memory. The results of the present study are meaningful in that this study presents a framework for a better understanding and use of both the place memory and appreciators' memory in the design process of a place and landscape of memory and also criticizes a materialistic approach that fails to take into account the visitors' memories.

Shape Recovery Analyses of SMA Actuator-Activated Composite Shells Considering 3-D SMA Material Behaviors (3차원 거동이 고려된 형상기억합금 작동기 부착 복합재 쉘의 변형해석)

  • Shape memory alloys (SMA) are often used in smart structures as active components. Their ability to provide large recovery forces and displacements has been useful in many applications, including devices for artificial muscles, active structural acoustic control, and shape control. Based on the 3-dimensional SMA constitutive equation in this paper, the radial displacement control of externally pressurized circular and semicircular composite cylinders under external pressure with a thin SMA layer bonded on its inner surface or inserted between composite layers in investigated using 3-dimensional finite element analysis. Upon actuation through resistive heating, SMAs start to transform from martensitic into austenitic state, simultaneously recover the prestrain, and thus cause the composite cylinders to go back to their original shapes of the cylinder cross-sections.

Designing Vision Experiment Using Active-Shutter Glasses System (보급형 액티브 셔터 방식 안경을 이용한 시각 실험 설계)

  • The effort of implementing realistic 3-D depth on 2-D images has been continued persistently with a theoretical understanding of depth perception and its related technical development. The present article briefly reviews a number of popular stereoscopes for studying stereoscopic depth perception according to their implementation principles, and introduces a behavioral experiment as a technical example in which the active-shutter glasses were used. In the present study, participants were tested for their visual memory against perceived depth among a set of items. The depth of the memory and test items was manipulated to be 1) monocular, 2) binocular, or 3) both-monocular-and-binocular respectively. The memory performance was worst in the binocular-depth condition, and best however in the both-monocular-and-binocular condition. These results indicate that visual memory may benefit more from monocular depth than stereoscopic depth, and further suggest that the storage of depth information into visual memory would require both binocular and monocular information for its optimal memory performance.
