Mechanical characteristics of involute-circular arc composite tooth profile (인벌류우트-圓弧 合成齒形의 諸特性)

  • In this study, full-rounded tip curve of rack and its mating fillet curve of pinion in Involute-circular arc composite tooth profile are derived. Mechanical characteristics are calculated analytically, i.e., Specific sliding, Nominal bending stress at working root circle and the Contact factor of the arc of contact in circular arc part to the arc of double contact. These characteristics compared with standard involute tooth profile are improved in circular arc part of composite tooth profile. To obtain more efficient composite tooth profile, we studied these characteristics with regard to the changes of unwound angle and radius of circualr arc. And a design method of composite tooth profile is suggested. Composite tooth profile are compared with standard involute tooth profile.

  • The straight bevel gear for automobile part has been manufactured by the cold forging instead of the gear machining tool for the mass production. The application to CAD/CAM system has been necessary in order to develop the precision product quickly by forging through the minimization of trial and error and confirm the reproducibility. In the study, the straight bevel gear with the crown teeth has been modelled by the CAD/CAM system. The master gear after the gearing test has been machined after the modelling, NC data generation and verification. The die for forging and the jig for machining has been manufactured using the master gear.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a profile modification technique of spur gears and its computer program for the prevention of gear tooth overlap. In the gear system, tooth overlap produces an impact at the initial contact of some tooth pairs. In this analysis, contact surface was assumed to be unbonded and frictionless under small deformation and stain. The problem is formulated by a variational statement with inequality constraint. Tooth load sharing is obtained by the application of contact theory, and overlap is known by the analysis of deformation. After carrying out the profile modification of gear tooth, we verified the reasonable results.

Optimal Design of Rotor Profile of Internal Gear Pump for Noise Reduction (내접형 기어펌프용 로터의 소음저감을 위한 치형 최적설계)

  • An internal gear pump is required to improve the flow rate and noise. Furthermore, such pumps are durable and small in size. In this study, equations of the rotor shape with multiple profiles (ellipse 1-involute-ellipse 2) were derived, and relevant performance parameters (pressure angle, irregularity, and specific sliding) of the internal gear pump to noise were predicted and compared. Rotor profiles and performance parameters were obtained by a prediction algorithm for theoretical analysis, and the effects between the design parameters and the performance parameters were analyzed. Based on the analysis results of the effects, an optimal design of the rotor profile was proposed, and a noise test of the prototype was performed to evaluate the reliability of the design.

  • Oval gears are typical kinds of non-circular gears and are widely used in flow meters. This paper presents a tooth profile design of an oval gear according to the curvature of the pitch curve. The length of the pitch oval is divided by the number of teeth and the curvature of the divided points is obtained. The tooth profile is designed on the circle of the curvature as if it is the pitch circle of a gear. The teeth of the oval gear have the same module and pressure angle, but the pitch circle of each tooth differs in size. Thus, the teeth on the divided points of the pitch oval are different in shape. This type of oval gear will improve the meshing properties.

  • A gear forming method by cold extrusion and an analytical method with its numerical solution program based on the upper bound method were developed. In the analysis the involute curve was as a shape of die and the upper bound method was used to calculate energy dissipation rate. By this method the power requirement and optimum conditions necessary for extruding helical(spur) gear were successfully calculated. These numerical solutions are in good agreement with experimental data. In the experiment, 4-6 class helical gear of KS standard for automobile transmission was successfully manufactured.

  • Gear tooth micro-geometry modifications include the intentional removal of material from the gear teeth flanks, so that the shape is no longer a perfect involute. If the gear shapes are perfect, then the gear tooth meshing is better, therefore the gears will transmit input torque in a more efficient manner without the generation of high frequency engine fluctuation noise. In this paper, we study tooth micro-geometry optimization of rear gear set in 2 speed planetary gear reducers. Analysis revealed problems which are need of modification. Based on the results, tooth micro-geometry was used to deal with load distributions on the rear gear set.

  • The rotorcraft engine gearbox transmits the power generated by the turboshaft engine to the rotor by reducing the rotational speed and increasing the torque. The core of the rotorcraft engine gearbox is lightweight performance, which requires maximum weight reduction within the range that meets various requirements and constraints. Therefore, lightweight design through gear macro geometry optimization is necessary. In this study, gear macro geometry optimization was performed to reduce the weight of a rotorcraft engine gearbox. NSGA-III was used for the optimization, resulting in a combination of the gear ratio and macro geometry that minimizes the weight of the total gear. In addition, the safety factor of the gears satisfied the given conditions.
