A Study on Factors Influencing the Recovery of People with a Mental Disorder: With a Focus on the Moderating Effects of Family Resilience (정신장애인의 회복에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 : 가족탄력성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze empirically influential factors related to the recovery of people with a mental disorder and also the moderating effects of family resilience. For this purpose, the investigator developed a research model that took into consideration both the positive and negative elements of individual and social factors based on the ecological, psychological, social, and ecosystem perspectives in previous studies and checked their causal effects and the moderating effects of family resilience in statistical significance. The subjects include 112 clients at an institution for people with a mental disorder. Data was collected with an interview based on a structured questionnaire. Collected data was put to the multiple regression analysis. The analysis results show that there was statistical significance in self-esteem, social stigma, and social support excluding symptoms and that the moderating effects of family resilience had positive(+) synergistic effects only on self-esteem and social support. Based on these results, the study made proposals about practice strategies including the establishment of internal and external support systems to make an effective approach to recovery and the systemization of family resilience and supportive strategies to promote the smooth recovery of people with a mental disorder through the reinforcement of programs related to the confirmed positive elements of self-esteem and social support.

The Moderating Effects of Social Support and Self-Efficacy on the Relationship between Resilience and Burnout of Visiting Caregivers in Seoul (서울지역 방문요양보호사의 회복탄력성과 직무소진의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 자기효능감의 조절효과에 관한 연구)

  • As the demand for elderly care service has been on rise due to the increasing of the aging population, the role of visiting caregivers becomes increasingly important. In this context, this study aims to examine whether there are moderating effects of social support and self-efficacy on the relationship between resilience of visiting caregivers and their burnouts. The hierarchical regression analysis was used for statistical analysis. The findings from the study are as follow. First, resilience has a negative effect on burnout. As the resilience increases, the burnout decreases. Second, social support has moderating effects on the relationship between a resilience sub-variable(positivity) and burnout. Third, self-efficacy has a moderating effect on the relationship between a resilience sub-variable(self-regulation) and burnout. The findings of the study suggest that nursing facilities pay attention to psychological characteristics of visiting caregivers as well as their job characteristics in designing burnout prevention programs for them.

  • This study has three objectives. First, it examines the relationship between organizational fairness and organizational commitment perceived by social workers in Korea. Second, it simultaneously examines mediating effects of organizational trust and organizational cynicism in the relationship between organizational fairness and organizational commitment. Third, it also examines the effect of social workers' perceived work value on the combined model by considering the unique characteristics of social work profession. This study employs the stratified cluster sampling method on social workers with more than two year work experiences in their current social service agencies that are located in Seoul and Kyungki province; finally it analyzes the responses from 564 social workers by using the method of structural equation modeling. This study has the following results: (1) there is a positive causal relationship between organizational fairness and organizational commitment perceived by social workers; (2) there is also a positive causal relationship between social workers' perceived work value and organizational commitment; and (3) in the mediating effects of organizational trust and organizational cynicism, there are no mediating effects in the relationship between organizational fairness and organizational commitment. This study discusses the importance of social workers' perceived work value and theoretical and practical implications of the results.

Posttraumatic Stress by Work in Firefighters (소방공무원의 직무별 외상 후 스트레스)

  • To investigate a posttraumatic stress, social support and work burden and to identify high risk group and related factors which were exerted influence on posttraumatic stress of firefighters. Data were gathered from total 264 firefighters consisting of 85 fire distinguishers & rescue workers, 96 emergency medical personnel and 83 in ambulance & fire truck drivers in C province and were analyzed 22 items by IES-R, 20 work burden items by Choi(2000), 8 social support items by Oh(2006) using SPSSWIN 14.0 program. Posttraumatic stress of general characteristics by work was showed significant difference in age, marriage status, education, position, office duration, mobilization frequency and experience of traumatic events. Posttraumatic stress were showed significant difference in 3 groups and fire distinguishers & rescue workers is the highest group. Posttraumatic stress was correlated with work burden(r=.317, p<0.01) for fire distinguishers & rescue workers, social support(r=-.331, p<0.01) and work burden(r=.522 p<0.001) for emergency medical personnel and work burden(r=.454, p<0.01) for ambulance & fire truck drivers. The high risk groups are fire distinguishers & rescue workers(60%), emergency medical personnel(55.2%)and ambulance & fire truck drivers(45.8%). Related factors are the experience seeing victim's danger for fire distinguishers & rescue workers(odds ratio=1.216, 95% confidence interval:1.068-1.383), and are work burden(odds ratio=1.100, 95% confidence interval:1.043-1.159) and office duration(odds ratio=1.010, 95% confidence interval 1.001-1.018) for emergency medical personnel, and are the experience seeing victim's danger(odds ratio=1.178, 95% confidence interval:1.010-1.373), age(odds ratio=1.129, 95%confidence interval:1.020-1.249), work burden(odds ratio=1.103, 95% confidence interval:1.034-1.177) for ambulance & fire truck drivers.

Resilience to Burnout and Work Satisfaction of Hospice Volunteers (호스피스자원봉사자의 소진탄력성과 활동만족도)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the level of resilience to burnout and work satisfaction of hospice volunteers. Methods: Participants included 235 regular volunteers at hospice facilities of two university hospitals and four general hospitals located in Busan. The study instruments were the scale of resilience to burnout and work satisfaction. The scale of resilience to burnout consisted of six dimensions (professional competency, accomplishment and worthiness, firm belief and value about their profession, good teamwork, support by their agency, and individual resources) and 31 items which were rated on a 5-point Likert scale, whereas the scale of work satisfaction consisted of 6 items which were rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Tukey and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of resilience to burnout and work satisfaction of participants were 3.59 and 3.69, respectively. The highest and lowest scores of resilience to burnout were individual resources (3.81) and accomplishment and worthiness (3.36). There were significant differences in resilience to burnout scores, depending on religion, health status, type of hospice facilities, and period of volunteer experience. There were significant differences in work satisfaction scores, depending on gender, religion, education level, health status, and type of hospice facilities. Conclusions: Continuous education and efficient management need to be developed to improve the level of resilience to burnout and work satisfaction of hospice volunteers.

Study on the Efficient Integration of Long-term Care Facilities and Geriatric Hospitals by Using NHIC Survey Data (실태조사를 통한 장기요양시설과 요양병원의 효율적 연계방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how to efficiently integrate long-term care facilities into geriatric hospitals. We conducted a survey on the current operations of facilities and medical services of 2009 of 192 long-term facilities and 168 geriatric hospitals in Korea between October and November. Technical statistics and chi-square test were conducted on the collected data using the SPSS 13.0/Win program. There was a difference between the two facility types in terms of the co-payment levels of the food services. Both types selected the budget deficit as their major management problem. Ease of access and the surrounding environment were critical factors used to select the location of both types of facilities. Facility users benefited from the discounted co-payments of both facility types. However, facility users wanted more frequent visits and support from their family members during their stay at the facilities. It was discovered that users in the long-term care facilities stayed longer, that is until they died, compared to their counterparts in geriatric hospitals. The two types of facilities provided their services totally separately to users. Users of the two types of facilities are poorly supported and cared for by their families. This study suggests that setting reasonable service fees, paying caretakers, introducing an integrated facility, strengthening facility assessment standards, introducing the family doctor system, and introducing the handling of long-term care insurance by geriatric hospitals would allow the integration between long- term care facilities and geriatric hospitals to be beneficial.

Study on the Respiratory Organ of Spined Loach, Iksookimia longicorpa (Pisces, Cobitidae), in Relation to the Air-breathing System (공기호흡과 관련된 왕종개(미꾸리과어류)의 호흡기관에 관한 연구)

  • To observe the respiratory system in relation to the air-breathing organ in Iksookimia longicorpa, micro-anatomical investigation was performed on the epidermis and on intestinal tract fragments. The epidermis was distinguished by two types of skin glands, a small mucous cell and a large club cell. The mucous cell was acid sulfomucins (some sialomucins), but the club cell did not give any histochemical tests for mucosubstances. The presence of a well defined lymphatic system with small lymphocytes was established in the stratum germinativum layer of the epidermis. A large number of blood capillaries run very close to each other just below the basement membrane. The straight intestinal tract is divided into an intestine and rectum, which consisted of a mucosa (epithelial layer), lamina propria-submucosa, muscularis, and serosa. The intestine and rectum have shorter mucosal folds and a thinner wall. The majority of the epithelial mucous cells contain acid sulfomucines. Based on the above results, I. longicorpa adapts to poor dissolved oxygen conditions by using an additional respiratory system using air through the epidermis, not the intestines.

A Study on the Inhibiting Factors of Case Management in Child Welfare Facilities (아동복지시설 사례관리수행 저해요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of case management in child welfare facilities to determine what the inhibiting factors as well as complementary factors are. For this purpose, data from 181 workers in community children's centers and 96 workers in child protection agencies and foster care centers were analyzed, the analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 program. In the case of community children's center interpersonal skills, case management guidelines, super vision, and network utilization were the influential factors while in other child welfare facilities, personal inhibitory factors, social welfare work experience, case management experience, and network utilization were the affecting factors. The implications reveal that social welfare practice should enhance the interpersonal skills of the workers, strengthen the supervision system, and provide a clear case management guideline. It is also important to set up a network of all local child welfare facilities and strengthen cooperation and mutual support among the institutions within the network.

  • Although studies and investments on electro-magnetic fields in terrestrial areas are being conducted, they are not applied to a ship. Especially ship is consist of Top Side, Bridge, and Engine Room. Top Side is mounted Antenna and radar. Bridge is mounted navigation and navigation equipment that have a safe voyage. Finally, Engine Room is mounted switchboard and this is used to ship propulsion system. Therefore the purpose of this paper is for suggesting optimized standard to apply to marine environment through analyzing electromagnetic wave environment in ship. For this, we were measured EMF in Hanbada ship in Korea Maritime and Ocean University and we compared and analyzed to measured values in Korea standards and international standards. Consequently, Engine Room of ship for the identified that there are limits to apply. The proposed results of this research will be expected to utilize for establishing standard a plan for EMF in ship.

  • 모든 과학기술지식은 객관성을 지닌 관찰과 실험과 측정에 의해서 이루어진다. 이렇게함으로써 과학기술지식은 재현성과 영구성을 가져오게 되며, 올바른 전승과 누적적 발전을 가져오는데 이 과학기술지식의 질서체계를 유지하는데 근본적인 역할을 하는 것이 표준이다. 시간, 길이, 온도, 무게 등의 기본 측정단위와 광속, 중력 등의 물리화학적 상수, 법정계량단위, 각종 공업 규격, 안정 규정 등 수 없이 많은 표준은 효과적인 공동 인식과 객관적 판단의 기준으로 활용되고 있다. 현대의 과학기술이 다양하게 발전하고 이에 따라 우리의 생활도 더욱 복잡한 구조를 이루면서 표준에 대한 필요성도 더욱 높아가고 있다. 표준에 대한 깊은 생각없이도 우리는 자동차에 주유할때 표준단위를 통해 원하는 분량을 말하며, 카메라의 필름 종류를 선택할 때도 국제표준기구(ISO: International Standards Organization)의 규격을 사용하는데 익숙해져 있다. 이렇게 표준은 우리 일상생활과 밀접한 관계에 있으나 소비자 입장에서는 그 가치를 절실히 느끼지 못한 것이 사실이며 표준이 없음으로 해서 일어나는 불편과 혼란에 대해서는 무관심한 것이 사실이다. 일상생활에서 일어나는 표준의 역할을 우리가 잘 이해한다면 표준이 왜 필요한가를 쉽게 인식하게 될 것이다. 최근 정보산업이 새로운 물결로 사회전반에 영향을 미치고 있으며 이에 따라 정보의 수집, 가공, 저장 및 배포의 처리 과정에서도 제반 표준화의 필요성이 크게 대두되었다. 그 결과로 최근 10여년간에 수백종의 기술기준, 지침서 및 기본/기능 표준규격이 제정되어 왔다. 이와 같이 어떤 특별한 영역에서의 표준에 대한 요구가 있을 때 관련 규격이 제정되게 된다. 표준의 제정을 위한 다음 단계는 그 주제에 관한 표준(또는 규격)개발에 관심을 가진 사람들이 모이는 일일 것이다. 통계분야에서도 몇가지 표준화 활동이 ISO 를 중심으로 진행되고 있다. 예를 들면 실험과 검증 결과의 표현과 해석, 표본추출 방법 등에 관한 것으로 이들은 통계의 응용분야에서 꼭 필요한 표준이다. 구체적인 예로서 우리나라 국민의 표준체위값을 설정하기 위하여 측정조사할 때 측정방법 뿐 아니라 표본추출 방법과 통계자료 처리과정의 표준화가 이루어 지지 않는다면 각 기관에서 조사 발표하는 체위관계 자료가 상이하여 국가기관의 통계자료에 대한 신뢰성이 저하되고 통계값을 이용하여 의류, 신발 등의 제품을 제조하는 산업계에 혼란을 야기시킬 수 있다. 본 고에서는 ISO의 활동을 정보처리 분야에 초점을 맞춰 간략하게 설명하고 통계분야의 국제 활동을 비전문가인 필자들이 아는대로 소개하는 한편 국내활동의 필요성을 강조하여 관련 기관, 학계 및 산업계 관련전문가들의 ISO 국내활동 참여를 제의하고자 한다.
