The purpose of this study is to investigate the study subjects' awareness on hospice & palliative care service; and explore its activation methods of Long-term care hospitals located in the metropolitan cities B and K. The total of returned survey was answered from 183 employees on Long-term care hospitals which it was selected 13 institutions. One month to study during from July 1 to July 30, 2016 the researchers visited to investigate relevant data and surveyed to examine their awareness and activation methods. The returned survey questionnaires were processed with SPSS 21.0 for basic data analysis. The results of the 13 institutions under this research, 9 institutions provided hospice & palliative care education once a year. Most of the staff members were found to be aware of the idea of hospice & palliative care, think of it as a good program, and wish it to be implemented(81.9%). They answered that the reason of not implementing the hospice&palliative care was the 'lack of personnel(50.8%)', 'lack of knowledge on hospice&palliative care program; and presented activation method was 'insurance fee introduction(15.8%)' followed by 'service education(15%)' and 'governmental financial support(14%)'.
Overexcitability (OE) and social self-concept are the integral affective characteristics of science-gifted students. Overexcitability refers to sensitivity as an internal disposition to give a more often, longer and more intensive reaction to a wide variety of stimuli, and social self-concept refers to the way of behaving in society, especially at school in the case of students. The purpose of this study was to examine the overexcitability and social self-concept of science-gifted and non-gifted elementary school students. The subjects in this study were 135 gifted elementary students belonged to gifted education centers or gifted classes and 91 ordinary elementary students. An overexcitability test and a social self-concept test were conducted to the subjects, and the collected data were analyzed by SPSS. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the score of the science-gifted was significantly higher than that of the ordinary students in all sub-domain of OE (psychomotor OE, sensual OE, emotional OE, intellectual OE, emotional OE) and social self-concept. Second, the science-gifted students who attended gifted education centers and community gifted classes scored significantly higher than the ordinary students in overexcitability. Based on conclusions, implications for teaching the science-gifted were discussed.

This study is to investigate the direction for management of informal science education center by survey of participants' satisfaction and implication. The place to study was Gwacheon National Science Museum in Kyung-gi province. $4,322m^2$ for the education space can make education done effectively. And attendees of their own education program are over 10,000 per year. 87 students who attend education program and 78 of their parents joined the survey of participants' satisfaction. The results of this study show that most of the participants want informal science education center to be able to make up for school education in part of promoting scientific literacy, heuristic method and scientific attitude. Things to be improved were feedback about student activity, segmentation of the education program for each grade, public relations exercise of program and advanced method of teaching based on each subject of classes. As ideas for improvement, it seemed that making long term program for continuous participant, limiting participant appropriately, developing guide manual of teaching, improving publicity of program were required.
The study aims to assess needs of administrative and financial support for effective performance of teacher professionalism of gifted. For this end, practicing teachers of gifted education were nationwide selected for survey questionnaires. The first survey of five-scale Likert item was conducted in July 2005 with 236 teachers and the second survey of open-ended item was done in November 2005 with 123 teachers. All the respondents provided their perceptions to current status of administrative and financial support for gifted education and needs for their effective performance of professionalism. Suggestions for improving conditions of administration and finance in terms of effective performance of teacher professionalism in gifted education were as follows: First, teachers should be assigned as full-time for gifted education. Otherwise, their teaching hours and other related jobs should be, reduced Second, the financial support for gifted education should be increased, in particular, more in provincial areas than metropolitan cities. Third, appropriate grouping and counseling according to diverse differences of students should be done. Fourth, understanding of principals and teachers in general education as well as parents and general public toward gifted education should be improved through inservice education program and other education programs. Further, teachers of gifted education should be provided with more frequent opportunities for participating inservice programs in quality, share knowledge and experiences among teachers through network systems, and be given appropriate incentives for better performance of professionalism.

Objective: Many factors are considered when a patient chooses the type of dental institution they wish to receive treatment from. Numerous studies have been conducted regarding this issue. However, more research is needed in analyzing the patient's psychological aspects when he/she decides to choose the dental institution they wish to receive treatment from. Methods: A locus of control test was utilized to analyze the psychological aspects in orthodontic patients of a university dental hospital and a private dental clinic. The locus of control test is known to be useful in predicting a human being's behavior. Both intrinsic and extrinsic locus of control tests were carried out in 934 orthodontic patients attending Seoul National University Dental Hospital and 1466 orthodontic patients from a private dental clinic. Results: The orthodontic patients at the university dental hospital showed a stronger extrinsic locus of control compared with those from the private dental clinic. Conclusion: The orthodontic patients at the university dental hospital value the doctor as the authority figure and the treatment quality more than those at the private dental clinic.

Objectives: Early diagnosis and treatment is the most important strategy to control malaria effectively. Microscopic examination of blood films is a traditional and standard method for diagnosing malaria, which takes a long time and needs expertise, Therefore, the alternative method, rapid diagnostic kit has been used for quick diagnosis in some counties, a highly infectious region by P. vivax. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of malaria rapid diagnostic kit in Ganghwa county. Methods: The utility was evaluated by mean diagnosis time and sensitivity and specificity. For monitoring mean diagnosis time, 942 cases which were diagnosed for P. vivax were collected between 1998 and 2005, And for calculating sensitivity and specificity, 434 whole bloods in EDTA which were presented for P. vivax by microscopy and rapid diagnostic kit were collected between 2004 and 2005. Results: After malaria rapid diagnostic kit was used in 2003, mean diagnosis time has decreased to 3.36-3.14 day. The sensitivity and specificity of the rapid diagnostic kit was 98.2% and 98,5% and comparable to that of microscopic examination. Conclusions: The malaria rapid diagnostic kit is useful tool in a highly infectious region like Ganghwa county.
Sinheung Military Academy was the first one which prepared for independence war built by members of Sinminhoe in Western Manchuria. Sinheung Military Academy is known that nurtured 3,500 independence soldiers during 10 years from 1911 thorough 1920. Nevertheless no people know how it recruited so many students for 10 tears. In the course of studying the recruit of Sinheung Military Academy, I became to focus on Manjugisa by Yi Sang-nyog. Although Yi Sang-nyon remembered that there were over five hundred students in Sinheung Military Academy from just after it's set up in Manjugisa, scholars overlooked that mention so far. In addition, in the Sixth poem of Manjugisa, Yi Sang-nyong recollected that there were 30 preliminary educational organizations in 1918 after installation of Sinheung Military Academy in 1911. Therefore I concluded that the over 500 students nurtured from just after installation of Sinheung Military Academy were summed up students of preliminary educational organizations over Sinheung Military Academy's and proved it. The students of preliminary educational organizations in Liuhexian Tonghuaxian entranced into Sinheung Military Academy after graduation. The graduates of Sinheung Military Academy taught the students of preliminary educational organizations a common and military educations in duty for two years. In conclusion, Sinheung Military Academy and nearby preliminary educational organizations were an wide military camp organically maintained by Korean in Western Manchuria for big purpose of independence war.

The purpose of this study is to present the basic data needed to improve the arts, music, and physical education provided by local child care centers based on an investigation of the current status of and satisfaction with the education. The subjects of this study were 17 local child care centers in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and the situation of the arts, music, and physical education programs operated from 2014 to 2016 were examined. In addition, 419 children who received the education were surveyed to evaluate their level of satisfaction. The results of this study are as follows. As regards the status of the arts education from 2014 to 2016, it was observed that three of the 17 local child care centers did not have any arts, music or physical education at all, while six of them continuously implemented all three of these programs during this period of time. Two and six of the 17 institutes had arts, music, and physical education programs for two years and one year, respectively. All of the teachers who ran the arts and music education programs of the 17 institutes were arts and music majors who were certified teachers of the liberal arts. However, the physical education programs were run as volunteer activities by college students majoring in physical education. The survey on the level of satisfaction of the children who participated in the arts, music, and physical education programs showed that they were helpful for the overall life experience of the children and that they were more helpful for the boys than for the girls. The level of satisfaction with the education was high for most of the students who participated in the programs, however the boys were more satisfied than the girls. When asked whether they would participate in the arts, music, and physical education programs again, most of the respondents answered that they would do so. The boys were more likely to participate again than the girls. Based on this study, in order to enhance the creativity and personality education of the children using the local child care centers, higher quality education is needed. Arts and music education can be used to help children to learn to communicate smoothly with their friends. In addition, it seems to be necessary to enhance the education by setting goals that are suitable for its purpose, in order to provide creative arts and music education that contributes to the physical health and emotional stability of the children.
Background : Ever since Flexible Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy was introduced into clinical practice, it has played an important role in both diagnosis and therapy of respiratory diseases. Repeated bronchoscopic examinations is are not so uncommon. This study was designed prospectively to assess the clinical availability of the Repeated Flexible Bronchoscopy (RFB). Methods : Pre-established indications were as follows : 1) To confirm diagnosis or the cell type in proven malignancy 2) to diagnose or locate hemoptysis 3) to follow-up or confirm recurrence 4) to use in therapy. We performed RFB and analyzed the data in 156 patients during 28-month period. Results : The frequency of RFB was 23.0%. The indication for diagnosis or cell type of malignancy was 25 cases, of which 2 cases were confirmed by a third bronchoscopic examination and 3 cases by surgical procedures. Localization of the bleeding site was confirmed in 53.8%. RFB for small cell lung cancer yielded more information on residual or recurred lesion not apparent even with the CT scan in 30%. Previous cases of bronchostenosis due to endo-bronchial tuberculosis was shown to have worsened in 66.7%. Therapeutic manipulations were done in 126 cases, and bronchial suction was most common. Complications showed decreasing tendency with repeated examinations. Conclusion : The RFB for diagnosis or cell type of malignancy was useful in that comfirmation of diagnosis was possible in 85.7% of malignancy. More aggressive procedures should be employed including TBLB or TBNA. The RFB showed possible usefulness in the follow-up of patients with small cell lung cancer. For the patients with hemoptysis or endobronchial tuberculosis, the RFB did not the significance did not show significance because its results did not influence the diagnosis, therapy or clinical course.
Background : Surgical tracheostomy(ST) is usually performed by surgeons in operating room. For a patient with mechanical ventilation, however, transportation to operating room for ST could be dangerous for patients. In addition, ST is often delayed due to unavailability of operating room or surgeon. Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy(PDT), although novel in Korea, is gaining popularity as a bedside procedure in the hospitals of western countries. We evaluated the technical ease and safety of PDT in comparison with ST. Method : Thirty-eight patients in medical intensive care unit (ICU) who were either under mechanical ventilation for more than 7 days or required airway protection, were randomly assigned to ST(18 patients) or PDT(20 patients). Between two groups, there was no significant clinical difference except that female to male ratio was higher in the ST group. ST was performed by second year residents of the department of otolaryngology while PDT was performed by third grade medical resident and pulmonologist under bronchoscopic guide using Ciaglia Percutaneous Tracheostomy Set(Cook Critical Care, Bloomington, USA) in medical ICU. The following factors were compared between two groups : number of delayed cases after the decision for tracheostomy, procedural time, complications related to tracheostomy. Results : Delayed cases were 11 in ST group and 3 in PDT group (P<0.05). Procedural time was significantly shorter in PDT group ($15.6{\pm}7.1min$) than in ST group ($29.1{\pm}11.6min$, P<0.0001). Complications related to tracheostomy occurred in 5 cases in ST group : accidental decannulation (1), subcutaneous emphysema (2) and minor bleeding (2), and in 4 cases in PDT group : minor bleeding (2), subcutaneous emphysema (1) and premature extubation (1) (P>0.05). Conclusion : Since percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy was easy to practice and its complications were not different from surgical tracheostomy, PDT can be a useful bedside procedure for mechanically ventilated patients.
