This study aims to investigate the relationship between personality, especially temperament and subjective well-being. The participants were 681 college students (211 males and 470 females), whose ages ranged from 17 to 37 (M=20.91, SD=2.36). The instruments utilized in the present study were Korean Version of BAS/BIS Scale, The Big Five Locator, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Life Satisfaction Motivation Scale, Life Satisfaction Expectancy Scale, Emotion Frequency Test, and Subjective Happiness Scale. Result indicated that women expected more positive future than men did, while no gender differences were found in any other well-being variables. Correlational analyses revealed that emotional stability and extroversion were closely associated with life satisfaction, happiness, positive and negative emotion, whereas behavioral activation system (BAS) and behavioral inhibition system (BIS) were more closely associated with motivation to live and expectancy of satisfactory life. There was close relationship between conscientiousness and subjective well-being, because they were college students. As a internal factor, personality was better predictor for subjective well-being of female students. For instance, it accounted for around 35% variance of female's subjective happiness. The present findings reiterate the role of personality in quality of life, and it was discussed with characteristics of subjects, situational factors, and previous studies.
This study explored the changes in the elementary science teaching expertise of teachers who participated in an in-school professional learning community for elementary science instructional research. Six elementary school teachers from grades 4, 5, and 6 at an 18-class S elementary school in a medium-sized city in Chungcheongbuk-do conducted collaborative instructional research on elementary science lessons as part of an in-school professional learning community, which was held 26 times over 7 months in 2020. During the professional learning community, video and audio recordings of the activities, research lessons, course materials, and professional learning community reflection activities were collected for analysis. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative research methods; data processing, reading, note-taking, description, classification, interpretation, reporting, and visualization; and the instructional professionalism elements were extracted based on the instructional professionalism framework. In the early professional learning community activity stages, the participating teachers first discussed their teaching perspectives, their experiences, and their goals for teaching science, which resulted in a selection of research questions. The teachers then collaboratively designed and implemented research lessons for each grade level, after which lesson reflections were conducted. The teachers' abilities to engage in qualitative reflection on the research questions improved after each reflection iteration. It was found that this professional learning community collaborative lesson study experience positively contributed to teaching expertise development. Based on the study findings, the implications for using professional learning communities to improve elementary teachers' science teaching expertise are given.
This study sought to investigate the effects of cooperative learning emphasizing interactions on science-gifted elementary students' scientific creativity. Thirty-four science-gifted elementary students were divided into an experimental class and a comparison class to compare their creativity scores quantitatively. The experimental class participated in cooperative learning emphasizing interactions, and the comparison class participated in whole class interactions. For qualitative analysis, the small group discussions were audiotaped and transcribed. The results of the study are as follows. First, cooperative learning emphasizing interactions had a positive educational effect on usefulness, which is one of the essential elements of scientific creativity. Second, as the cooperative learning progressed, the interaction between the small group members improved qualitatively. Third, the factors hindering the effectiveness of cooperative learning included negative task-unrelated statements from some of the small group members and the following operational statements to correct them. Based on these results, this study proposed some suggestions for effective cooperative learning emphasizing interactions.
This study aims to examine the role of IT features as heuristic cues in choosing a content on YouTube. According to the heuristic-systematic model, people tend to rely on heuristic cues when they have to choose and process useful information quickly so that they could save time and reduce demands for thinking. Based on this line of reasoning, this study posits that YouTube users rely on certain IT features as heuristic cues in choosing contents before they actually watch them. Based on the prior literature and interviews with YouTube users, we develop a research model in which social endorsement, self-presentation, and interactivity are identified as potential determinants of users' attitude toward contents, which in turn influence their intention to watch them. To empirically test the research model, we conduct a laboratory experiment and a follow-up survey. The results of data analysis show that social endorsement for the content, YouTube creator's self-presentation, and interactivity have significant and positive effects on their attitude toward the content, leading to their intention to watch it. This study suggests that IT features on YouTube could be wisely utilized to increase the chance that users choose a particular content out of many competing contents when they search certain information on YouTube.

Around the world, many countries experiencing the issue of shrinking cities are continually expanding high-speed rail networks to enhance regional accessibility and address imbalances. This study analyzed the effects of high-speed train operations on the age-specific population migration in South Korean municipalities from 2012 to 2019, taking into account the risk levels of shrinking cities. For this purpose, an analysis was conducted using age-specific net in-migration population as the dependent variable, employing the spatial panel autoregressive model. The research results indicated that the influence of high-speed rail on regional population inflow varies depending on the risk level of shrinking city. In other words, high-speed railway operations had positive effects on population inflow in the capital areas and some major cities, while explained population outflow in the other regions. High-speed railways particularly exerted a significant impact on the inflow of the young and middle-aged population, representing the working age, but this effect was also limited to regions with a low risk of shrinkage. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of considering planned population and industrial attraction when installing high-speed rail with the goal of achieving regional balanced development and mitigating shrinkage. The results of this study also suggest the need for subsequent research to explore factors that positively influence population structure and inflow based on the level of shrinkage risk in each region, as well as the introduction of new policies tailored to the specific situations of each local government.
E-learning has improved the educational effect by making it possible to learn anytime and anywhere by escaping the traditional infusion education. As the use of e-learning system increases with the increasing popularity of e-learning, it has become important to measure e-learning satisfaction. In this study, we used the mixed research method to identify satisfaction factors of e-learning. The mixed research method is to perform both qualitative research and quantitative research at the same time. As a quantitative research, we collected reviews in Udemy.com by text mining. Then we classified high and low rated lectures and applied topic modeling technique to derive factors from reviews. Also, this study conducted an in-depth 1:1 interview on e-learning learners as a qualitative research. By combining these results, we were able to derive factors of e-learning satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Based on these factors, we suggested ways to improve e-learning satisfaction. In contrast to the fact that survey-based research was mainly conducted in the past, this study collects actual data by text mining. The academic significance of this study is that the results of the topic modeling are combined with the factor based on the information system success model.
Recently, Virtual Human(VH) has begun to appear in various media, not only on social media, but also in advertisements, music sources, and dramas. Virtual human has become a primary marketing tool for companies, but there also exist concerns when the companies do not disclose the identities of virtual humans. Accordingly, it is necessary to examine users' responses toward content that features virtual humans. This study aimed to examine how the exposure of virtual humans in the content affects users' perceptions. Therefore, the study defined the concept of 'VH Disclosure(VHD)', referring to the exposure of the virtual human's identity, and explored the impact of VH disclosure on attitude toward the ad (Hedonism, Utilitarianism, and Interestingness) and source credibility (Trustworthiness and Expertise). The study conducted an experimental survey with 302 respondents. Regardless of when the ad featured a VH or a human, the results showed that there was no significant difference between users' attitudes and source credibility. The results revealed that it was more effective to disclose the VH in social media feeds than directly reveal the VH's identity in the content. Therefore, this study utilizes a new concept of 'VH Disclosure(VHD)' to enhance the understanding of VH and contributes to establishing marketing strategies optimized for consumers in the creation of virtual human-related content.

Currently, in Korea, there is a growing interest in improving the learning ability of the education target group due to the low birth rate and aging population. The dilemma of a shrinking population ultimately causes the burden of having to come up with a plan to efficiently maximize the use of available population resources. Accordingly, this study explores the impact of learning motivation (activity-oriented motivation, learning-oriented motivation) on learner characteristics (learning value, learning efficacy) and learning satisfaction, and as a result, intention to continue participating in lifelong learning (recommendation intention, relationship continuation intention). As a results of the analysis, it shows that learning motivation had a significant effect on learning satisfaction, and the emotions formed in this way had a positive effect on recommendation intention and relationship continuation intention. In addition, the results show that learning-oriented motivation had a significant effect on both learning satisfaction and learner characteristics, but that learning efficacy had no effect on recommendation intention. This study is significant in that it presents the basis for an educational system based on relationship maintenance and learner characteristics by considering the learner's orientation, individual achievement direction, recommendation intention, and relationship continuation intention.
Purpose: The present study identified the determinants in the development of intrapreneurial intention in small and medium-sized local hospitals. A careful literature review led to the development of a conceptual model which identified two types of employee competence-individual competence and managerial competence-to influence intrapreneurial orientation positively. It was hypothesized that intrapreneurial orientation predicts intrapreneurial intention and is mediated by intrapreneurial commitment. Methodology/Approach: The target population was chosen from two medical institutions of 'D' Hospital and 'E' Geriatric Hospital in Changwon City, South Korea. Samples were collected from 299 respondents who completed a structured questionnaire. Findings: The results from a structural equation modeling statistical analysis indicated that (1) individual competence and managerial competence positively and significantly predict intrapreneurial orientation, (2) intrapreneurial orientation positively and significantly influences intrapreneurial intention, (3) intrapreneurial commitment partially mediates the relation of intrapreneurial orientation to intrapreneurial intention, and (4) the mediation effect of intrapreneurial commitment was significant in the medical-personnel group, but not in the non-medical group. Practical Implications: Overall findings from the present work provide vital insights into understanding the preconditions for developing employee intrapreneurship in small and medium-sized local hospitals.

This paper analyzes a case of successful faculty entrepreneurship through a coupled process of open innovation in a university context, using the core competency theory perspective. Initially, the current state of faculty entrepreneurship is examined, and the effects of interdisciplinary coupled processes of open innovation are explored, focusing on the case of 'Omotion Inc.,' a startup utilizing generative AI technology for hyper-realistic 3D virtual human experiences. The research methodology involves in-depth interviews with Omotion Inc.'s co-founders, technology commercialization professionals, and experts in the field, followed by analysis based on foundational theories. Applying the core competency theory, this paper scrutinizes the process of integrating diverse expertise and technologies from various academic disciplines. The analysis goes beyond the limitations of faculty entrepreneurship confined to a single technology-centric research domain. Instead, it explores the possibilities of enhancement and value creation through coupled processes, providing practical implications for the university entrepreneurial ecosystem. The aim is to extend the traditional roles of education and research within the university, presenting a role in economic value creation beyond the boundaries of conventional faculty entrepreneurship. Through the collaboration of two faculty members, this study showcases the creation of novel technology and business models. It establishes that successful coupled processes of open innovation in faculty entrepreneurship, from a core competency theory perspective, require the entrepreneurial firm to possess (1) entrepreneurial capabilities, (2) technological capabilities, and (3) networking capabilities. The implications of this research highlight the positive impact of coupled processes of open innovation in faculty entrepreneurship, as evidenced by the Omotion Inc. case, offering guidance on entrepreneurial directions for university members preparing for entrepreneurship.
