An Experimental and Field Study on Thermal Performance of Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water System (자연대류형 태양열 온수 급탕 시스템의 열성능 및 실증실험)

  • This paper studies development of a solar thermosyphon hot water system which is suitable to korean climate and life style, to save energy consumed for domestic water heating. The system consists of two flat plate collectors(or three flat plate collectors) connected in parallel and a storage tank of 300 liter capacity with heat exchanger and the optimum system was designed through the comparative measurements of five different storage tanks. The developed system manufactured with domestic materials were installed in residential buildings in seven cities(Seoul, Pusan, Taegu, Kwangju, Taejeon, Kangneung, Cheju) for demonstration and field test and results show possibility for commercialization.

A Study on the Performance Evaluation of Recirculation System for Individual Hot Water Supply System in Residential Buildings (주거건물의 개별급탕방식 환탕배관 적용에 따른 급탕성능 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In the current residential building, hot water supply system consumes the second largest energy in order to make the thermal comport condition of residential space. The more residential environment improves the more the demand for hot water and water consumption is increasing gradually. So this study examines the possibility of applying the recirculation for individual hot water supply system compared with the existing method for waiting time for hot water, wasted water and energy consumption. The results are as follows. (1) In case of recirculation system method the waiting time for hot water can be reduced up to $69\sim85%$ in spring and fall period and so dose up to $77\sim85%$ in winter period. (2) The total wasted water has a little change compared with the existing method which can make the total wasted water reduced about $77\sim86%$. (3) The efficiency of hot water supply system can be improved, if the method which blocks the inflow of cold water is applied, when return pump is operated to recirculate hot water in recirculation system.

  • Hot water is used by having a wash, dishes, taking tub and drinking water in residential buildings, and the use objective is to raise comfort of human body sense, washing and sterilization effect and so on. Cold & hot water supply system is understanded simpler than HVAC systems relatively, so it is true that pace of performance improvement is slower than other systems for plan and technical development. In this study, the performance evaluations are conducted under the condition of composition ratio by 1:1 for cold & hot water supply manifold system using functionally complex valves such as constant flow regulating valve and 3-way mixing valve in the area of $105.6m^2$ apartment which consist of the largest part of the whole apartment. Also, flow rate related to simultaneous use of faucets and change of hot water temperature are compared with the existing method.

Field Application of a Latent Heat Storage Tank for Load Shaving of Domestic Hot Water Supply in District Heating (지역난방 급탕공급 부하균등화를 위한 잠열축열조의 현장 적용)

  • In terms of district heating operation, efficient production and supply of heat by alleviating the peak load at a specific time require an application technology that can solve the inconvenience of the user and the difficulties of the supplier. In this study, a 78 ℃ class PCM heat storage tank suitable among the technologies that can solve these problems was manufactured and applied to the hot water supply facility for apartments in district heating users. As a result of the application of this system, it was confirmed that the supply temperature was constant to the user compared to the existing supply method. In addition, it was confirmed that the reduction of the peak load due to load equalization reduced the heat supply margin of 10% in the existing heat supply facility. And the construction cost of the new heat supply facility and the construction cost of heat users is decreased by 5% and 10%, respectively.
