This study aimed to investigate the reinforcing effect of two kinds of glass fiber, Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh and SES MESH$^{(R)}$ and to evaluate the effect of the thermocycling on the transverse strength of the denture base and on the reinforcing effect of the reinforcements. 20 specimens of the size of $2.5{\times}10.0{\times}65.0mm$ were fabricated for each group; control group, metal mesh reinforcement group, Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh reinforcement group and SES MESH$^{(R)}$ reinforcement group. To find the difference made by the thermocycling, 10 specimens of each reinforcement group were treated by thermocycling. 3-point bending test was performed to measure the transverse strength of the denture base resin. The specimens reinforced with SES MESH$^{(R)}$ and Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh showed significantly higher transverse strength than the control group (P<.05), and significantly lower transverse strength than the specimens reinforced with the metal mesh (P<.05). Thermocycled specimens were lower in transverse strength than non-thermocycled specimens in the control group, metal mesh group, Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh group and SES MESH$^{(R)}$ group, however significant difference (P<.05) was found only in the control group.
Purpose. To investigate the differences in the frequency of post-fitting denture check-ups based on gender, age, insurance status, denture arch, and type among patients aged 65 and above. Methods. This research analyzed 988 patients from National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital's Department of Prosthodontics, who had denture fittings over the last 10 years. Variables including gender, age, insurance status and type, denture arch, and denture type were assessed. Statistical analyses were performed at a 5% significance level. Results. The study incorporated 988 dentures, revealing a median of 3 check-ups post-fitting. Male patients significantly had more visits than females (P = .017), and those with full metal dentures visited significantly more than those with partial dentures (P = .005). Other variables were not significantly influential on the post-fitting check-up frequency. Conclusion. Within this study's confines, an increase in denture adjustment sessions was observed for male patients and those with full metal dentures.
Lost wax technique of casting wax patterns has been used principally to make metal frameworks of removable partial dentures. Since the development of digital technology and CAD, metal frameworks can be built through digital surveying and framework designing. Many cases proved that resin patterns made by CAD printing method were well adapted to internal oral structure and final metal frameworks also showed good internal adaptation as well. The metal frameworks of a removable partial denture were made by both lost wax technique and CAD technique and were applied to a patient with severe alveolar bone loss. Using CAD data and fit checker, internal adaptation of both metal frameworks were evaluated by comparing the gap between surveyed crown and its structure. This study is to prove that metal frameworks by both techniques showed adaptation that can be applied in clinical field.

The object of this study was to find out the effect of various reinforcing materials including Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh on the transverse strength of the denture resin. QC-20 and Lucitone199$^{(R)}$ were used as the denture resin, and polyethylene fiber Ribbond$^{(R)}$, light curing quarts fiber Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh, metal mesh were used as the reinforcing materials. Ten specimens were fabricated for each group and the size of specimens was $2.0{\times}10.0{\times}65.0mm$. To compare the effect of resin thickness, additional specimens of $2.5{\times}10.0{\times}65.0mm$, $3.0{\times}10.0{\times}65.0mm$ were fabricated. In the control group, the transverse strength of Lucitone199$^{(R)}$ was significantly higher than that of QC-20(p<0.05). Among the specimens of 2.0 mm thickness fabricated with $Lucitone199^{(R)}$ and QC-20, they showed high transverse strength in the order of metal mesh, Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh, Ribbond$^{(R)}$, and control group. In the specimens of 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm thickness, the transverse strength of Quarts Splint$^{TM}$ Mesh were significantly higher than that of QC-20(p<0.05). But in the specimens of 3.0 mm thickness, there was no significant difference.

Compared to conventional method, if metal framework of removable partial denture is fabricated by selective laser melting, various laboratory works are omitted, saving time and simplifying the process. In addition, metal framework with homogeneous density can be obtained, expecting excellent mechanical properties, especially resistance to fatigue fracture. In these cases, impression were taken using conventional methods in partial edentulous patients, master casts were fabricated and scanned to obtain digital data. After designing the metal frameworks on the scanned data, removable partial dentures were fabricated using selective laser melting methods. Through these procedure, satisfactory outcomes were achieved both in functional and esthetic aspects.
Purpose: This study evaluated the bonding strength of direct relining resin to Co-Cr denture base material according to surface treatment and immersion time. Materials and methods: In this study, Co-Cr alloy was used in hexagon shape. Each specimen was cut in flat surface, and sandblasted with $110\;{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ for 1 minute. 54 specimens were divided into 3 groups; group A-control group, group B-applied with surface primer A, group C-applied with surface primer B. Self curing direct resin was used for this study. Each group was subdivided into another 3 groups according to the immersion time. After the wetting storage, shear bond strength of the specimens were measured with universal testing machine. The data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc method. Results: In experiment of sandblasting specimens, surface roughness of the alloy was the highest after 1 minute sandblasting. In experiment of testing shear bond strength, bonding strength was lowered on group B, C, A. There were significant differences between 3 groups. According to period, Bonding strength was the highest on 0 week storage group, and the weakest on 2 week storage group. But there were no significant differences between 3 periods. According to group and period, bonding strength of all group were lowered according to immersion time but there were no significant differences on group B and group C, but there was significant difference according to immersion time on group A. Conclusion: It is useful to sandblast and adopt metal primers when relining Co-Cr metal base dentures in chair-side.
Generally dentures are manufactured by conventional method, however the frequency of fabricating denture using digital method is increasing due to the recent development of digital technology in dentistry. The digital method of manufacturing denture is classified into two systems; 3D scan of the impression to arrange the artificial teeth on the CAD (Computer-aided design) and 3D printing to produce the resin-based complete denture, or 3D scan of the model to design of the framework using CAD, resin pattern formation by 3D printing and casting of metal framework of complete denture or removable partial denture. In this case report, electronic surveying and design the metal framework of the dentures were performed using CAD program, and plastic resin patterns fabricated by 3D printing were casted for upper full denture and lower removable partial denture. During follow-up periods, dentures using digital method have provided satisfactory results esthetically and functionally.
