Transparent Near-infrared Absorbing Dyes and Applications (투명 근적외선 흡수 염료 및 응용 분야)

  • Near-infrared (NIR) absorbing dyes have been applied to various applications such as optical filters, biotechnology, energy storage and conversion, coating additive, and traditionally information-storage materials. Because image sensors used in cellphones and digital cameras have sensitivity in the NIR region, the NIR cut-off filter is essential to achieving more clear images. As energy storage and conversion have been important, diverse NIR absorbing materials have been developed to extend the absorption region to the NIR region, and NIR absorbing materials-based research has proceeded to improve device performances. Adding NIR-absorbing dye with a photo-thermal effect to a self-healable coating system has been attractive for future mobility technology, and more effective self-healing properties have been reported. In this report, the chemical structures of representative NIR-absorbing dyes and state of the art research based on NIR-absorbing dyes are introduced.

  • 보현산 천문대의 근적외선 카메라시스템인 KASINICS(KASI Near Infrared Camera System)를 사용하여 다주기 변광성 BL Cam을 관측하였다. BL Cam(${\alpha}=03^h47^m19^s$, ${\delta}=+63^{\circ}22'7"$[J2000.0], V=13.10, ${\Delta}V$=0.33mag)은 광학적 쌍성으로 SX Pheoenics 변광성 중 하나이며 0.03 - 0.08day의 짧은 주기를 갖는 다주기 변광성으로 알려져 있다. 대상 천체의 적외선 관측을 위하여 한국천문연구원에서 개발한 지상 망원경용 근적외선 카메라 시스템 KASINICS를 사용해 J, H, Ks filter로 시계열 관측을 하였다. 대상 천체의 가시광 파장대에서의 관측 자료와 적외선 파장대에서의 관측 자료를 비교 분석함으로써 천체의 외곽층에서 발생하는 상호작용에 대해 알아볼 수 있다.

NEAR-INFRARED OBSERVING CONDITIONS AT THE BOAO AND THE SOAO (보현산천문대와 소백산천문대에서의 근적외선 관측 조건)

  • Korea Astronomy Observatory(KAO) has been developing the KAONICS, KAO Near-Infrared Camera System, which will be used for near-infrared observations in the ground-based telescopes of Korea. As a phase-A study for this work, we investigated observational environments at the Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory(SOAO) and the Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory(BOAO) quantitatively. In the J, H, K, and L bands, atmospheric transmission was calculated mainly depending on the PWV(Precipitable Water Vapour), and limiting magnitudes were computed for the SOAO and the BOAO, respectively. We conclude that these observatories have similar observing capabilities and domestic observations are possible in near-infrared.

  • The first pine wilt damage in Korea, which called AIDS of pine, was found out at Mt. Geumjeong of Pusan province in 1988. The damage area spread 53's city, Gun, Gu throughout the Gyeongsangnamdo in December 2005 since then find out. The best treatment for these damaged forests is well known as fumigation method after early detection. But early detection by an observer is very difficult because of the damaged forest areas are spread over huge range. Also the access of observer is difficult in condition of Korea topographical characteristic. In this study, an attempt was done to investigation about early detection of pine wilt damage using near infrared CCD camera.

A Test of a Far Infrared Camera for Development of New Surface Image Velocimeter for Day and Night Measurement (주야간 겸용 표면영상유속계 개발을 위한 원적외선 카메라의 적용성 검토)

  • In flow velocity measurement of natural rivers, taking images with proper image quality is the fundamental and the most important step. Since flood peaks generally occur in night time, it is very difficult to capture proper images in that time. The present study aims to test a far infra-red camera as a adequate alternative to resolve the various problems in measuring flood discharges. The far infra-red cameras are able to capture images in night time without help of any extra illuminations. Futhermore they are not affected by fog nor smoke, hence they can be adapted for a fixed-type surface image velocimeters. For comparison, a commercial camcorder and a near infra-red cameras were used together. The test images were taken at a day time and a night time, and the image acquisition work were performed at an artificial flow channel of the Andong River Experiment Station. The analyzed results showed that the far infra-red camera would be a good instrument for surface image velocimeters, since they were able to capture regardless light condition. There are, however, a few minor problems in their accuracy of the analyzed results. About their accuracy a more study would be required.

파묻힌 성단 NGC1333의 적외선 관측자료 분석 연구

  • 파묻힌 성단 NGC1333은 광학영역에서는 성운이 별을 가리고 있어서 관측 연구가 힘든 천체이다. 이 연구에서는 광학영역이 아닌 근적외선영역의 관측 자료를 이용하여 NGC1333 내 전주계열(pre-main sequence) 변광성을 찾아내었다. 관측 자료는 2005년11월부터 2007년 10월까지 미국 버지니아대학 Fan mountain 관측소의 31인치 반사망원경에 부착된 근적외선 카메라 Fancam에서 얻어졌다. Stetson 변광 지수(Stetson, 1996)를 이용해 변광 여부를 정하였다. 별 탄생 지역에서의 등연령곡선 모형을 적용한 색-등급도를 그리고 등연령곡선과 소광 현상 보정을 이용해 각 별들의 질량을 추정하였다.
