The Effect of the Number of Phoneme Clusters on Speech Recognition (음성 인식에서 음소 클러스터 수의 효과)

  • In an effort to improve the efficiency of the speech recognition, we investigate the effect of the number of phoneme clusters. For this purpose, codebooks of varied number of phoneme clusters are prepared by modified k-means clustering algorithm. The subsequent processing is fuzzy vector quantization (FVQ) and hidden Markov model (HMM) for speech recognition test. The result shows that there are two distinct regimes. For large number of phoneme clusters, the recognition performance is roughly independent of it. For small number of phoneme clusters, however, the recognition error rate increases nonlinearly as it is decreased. From numerical calculation, it is found that this nonlinear regime might be modeled by a power law function. The result also shows that about 166 phoneme clusters would be the optimal number for recognition of 300 isolated words. This amounts to roughly 3 variations per phoneme.

Video Based Tail-Lights Status Recognition Algorithm (영상기반 차량 후미등 상태 인식 알고리즘)

  • Automatic detection of vehicles in front is an integral component of many advanced driver-assistance system, such as collision mitigation, automatic cruise control, and automatic head-lamp dimming. Regardless day and night, tail-lights play an important role in vehicle detecting and status recognizing of driving in front. However, some drivers do not know the status of the tail-lights of vehicles. Thus, it is required for drivers to inform status of tail-lights automatically. In this paper, a recognition method of status of tail-lights based on video processing and recognition technology is proposed. Background estimation, optical flow and Euclidean distance is used to detect vehicles entering tollgate. Then saliency map is used to detect tail-lights and recognize their status in the Lab color coordinates. As results of experiments of using tollgate videos, it is shown that the proposed method can be used to inform status of tail-lights.

  • Presently, the online game industry of Korea are growing up fastly. The growth of online game give rise to the new problem of regulation on Real Money Trade(RMT). This article analyzed the market failure of RMT, and showed whether or not the government regulate RMT. The results showed that the RMT has efficiency in monopoly and external economie, and inefficiency in external diseconomies and uncertainty. But, the inefficiency in external diseconomie and uncertainty is based on the regulation of RMT by the game company. So, it is necessary for government to deregulate the RMT for curing the inefficiency of RMT.

Adaptive Blowing Control Algorithm for Autonomous Control of Underwater Flight Vehicle (수중 비행체의 자율제어를 위한 적응 부상 제어 알고리즘)

  • In case of flooding, the underwater flight vehicle (UFV) executes the blowing by blowing ballast tanks off using high pressure air (HPA), while it also uses control planes and a propulsion unit to reduce the overshoot depth caused by a flooding and blowing sequence. However, the conventional whole HPA blow-off method lets the body on the surface after blowing despite slight flooding. This results in the unnecessary mission failure or body exposure. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the body at the near surface by the blowing control while reducing the overshoot depth. To solve this problem, an adaptive blowing control algorithm, which is based on the decomposition method expanding the expert knowledge in depth control and the adaptive method using fuzzy basis function expansion (FBFE), is proposed. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the blowing control of UFV is performed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves the problems in the UFV blowing control system online.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the electrical properties of ultra-thin nitrided oxide(NO) and re-oxidized nitrided oxide(ONO) films that are considered to be promising candidates for replacing conventional silicon dioxide film in ULSI level integration. Especially, we have studied a variation of I-V characteristics, gate voltage shift, and time-dependent dielectric breakdown(TDDB) of thin layer NO and ONO film depending on nitridation and reoxidation time, respectively, and measured a variation of leakage current and charge-to-breakdown(Q$\_bd$) of optimized NO and ONO film depending on ambient temperature, and then compared with the properties of conventional SIO$\_2$. From the results, we find that these NO and ONO thin films are strongly influenced by process time and the optimized ONO film shows superior dielectric characteristics, and (Q$\_bd$) performance over the NO film and SIO$\_2$, while maintaining a similar electric field dependence compared with NO layer.

  • Around-View, the image processing device which increases the comfort of drivers is sold in the market. This system prevents accidents in advance while driving or parking. The accidents are caused with their inexperienced driving or bad visibility. It is developed for driving convenience. However, it dosen't spread to the driver widely due to the problem of the high installation costs and complex installation process. First, expensive equipment second, difficult development environment and third, inconvenient installation procedure. So the drivers don't have many opportunities to use this system and dare to develop this system. I think if one of the problems can be solved, users might be able to access this system at low cost. In this paper, the AVM(Around-View Monitoring) minimizes two of them. Expensive equipment, inconvenient installation. The costly problems were solved by using low-cost USB device and rear cameras. In view of inconvenient installation process, the new system was designed to make it easy for people to install it. Through this, it can ease the burden of consumers.

An Efficient Technique for Evaluating Queries with Multiple Regular Path Expressions (다중 정규 경로 질의 처리를 위한 효율적 기법)

  • As XML has become an emerging standard for information exchange on the World Wide Web, it has gained attention in database communities to extract information from XML seen as a database model. XML queries are based on regular path queries, which find objects reachable by given regular expressions. To answer many kinds of user queries, it is necessary to evaluate queries that have multiple regular path expressions. However, previous work such as query rewriting and query optimization in the frame work of semistructured data has dealt with a single regular expression. For queries that have multiple regular expressions we suggest a two phase optimizing technique: 1. query rewriting using views by finding the mappings from the view's body to the query's body and 2. for rewritten queries, evaluating each query conjunct and combining them. We show that our rewriting algorithm is sound and our query evaluation technique is more efficient than the previous work on optimizing semistructured queries.

A Study on the Pattern Matching Algorithm of 3D Coordinates for Quality Control in Ship Blocks (선박블록의 정도관리를 위한 3차원 좌표의 패턴매칭 알고리즘에 대한 연구)

  • In general, the three-dimensional(3D) coordinates of the manufactured ship blocks are measured using the laser measuring equipment by ship engineers. But, many deflections between the measured coordinates in manufactured step and the designed coordinates in the design step are occurred because of the measuring process of ship blocks manually. Thus, the ship engineer should conform the consistency between the measured coordinates and the designed coordinates step by step, and it largely causes the loss of manpower and time. In this paper, the automated pattern matching algorithm of 3D coordinates for quality control in ship blocks is suggested in order to solve this problem, and the performance of the algorithm is analyzed using the 3D coordinates simulation software developed by our research laboratory. The coordinates matching rate of the measured coordinates in the single/multi ship block(s) is about 90.2% under the tolerated distance error range is 20~25cm.

Hybrid 3DTV Systems Based on the Cross-View SHVC (양안 교차 SHVC 기반 융합형 3DTV 시스템)

  • When a terrestrial UHD broadcasting service and a mobile HD broadcasting service are provided using the PLP function provided by ATSC 3.0 and domestic UHD broadcasting standard, a small amount of data may be additionally transmitted to further provide high quality UHD-3D broadcasting service. The left and right images of the stereoscopic image are input, one view image is encoded by the SHVC method, and the other view images are encoded by the SHVC method of the two-view cross-referencing method. However, since the base layers (BL) of the two encoders are mutually common, the two encoders correspond to encoders that generate one BL stream and two enhancement layer (EL) streams. The average encoding efficiency is 16% more efficient compared to the third independent HEVC encoding for the UHD-3D broadcast service. The proposed scheme reduces the fluctuation of PSNR per image frame and increases the image quality of minimum PSNR frame by 0.6dB.

Suggestion of A Practical Simple Calculation Method for Safe Transportation Time after Radioactive Iodine Treatment in Patients with Thyroid Cancer (갑상선암 환자에서 방사성옥소치료 후 안전하게 이동할 수 있는 시간을 계산하기 위한 실용적인 간편계산법 제안)

  • When a patient with thyroid cancer is released from isolation after I-131 treatment and return to home using a vehicle, travel time should be controlled to reduce the amount of radiation to accompanying person. As the calculation of appropriate travel time is difficult, there is no patient-specific guideline until now. If we assume that there is no excretion and no physical decay during the relatively short travel time, calculation become quite simple; total radiation dose = dose rate ${\times}$ travel time. Results of this simple calculation and conventional calculation were compared using datum from 120 patients. Travel time calculated by simple method was 56% of conventional method in 0.3 m, 91% in 0.5 m and 96% in 1 m. Simple method was safe. It can be applied easily and also can be applied to the patients with hyperthyroidism treated by I-131.
