  • The constant .DELTA.K fatigue tests are performed in SS41 and its weldments to investigate crack opening behavior and fatigue crack propagation behavior at each parts of weldment and its boundary layer. The weldments were annealed after welding for the purpose of relieving residual stress. Every weldments has notch at weld metal zone, and fatigue crack propagates from weld metal zone to vase metal zone perpendicular to weld line. The Laser ISDG method is used in order to determine the crack opening ratio, this method is more precise than indirect measurement method, and faster and easier than other direct measurement method.

  • 본 연구에서는 표면방향과 깊이 방향으로 표면균열의 피로성장률이 다르게 나 타나고 있는 경우의 표면균열 형상변화를 표면균열의 균열 열림을 고려하여 해석할 수 있는 식이 수정 제안되었으며, 압력용기 소재에서 측정된 표면균열의 형상변화와 본 연구에서 제안된 형상 변화식에 의한 예측과 비교 분석하였다. 또한 균열 성장과 형 상변화를 평균 응력강도계수에 대해 분석하였고 다른 표면균열 형상 변화식들에 의한 표면균열 형상변화해석이 같이 비교 검토되었다.

  • In this study, we have investigated the closure behavior of fatigue cracks in SAPH440 steel plates under a mixed-mode I+II loading. A crack image capturing system as a direct measuring method was used to measure the closure levels at a crack tip. The crack closure levels in the fluctuation and stable sections were increased with the increase of the mode mixture ratio. The mode mixture ratio independent fatigue crack propagation rates equation was calculated by considering mixed-mode crack closure levels. The equation was examined according to the application method of crack opening ratio. The fracture surface analysis by C-scan method was also performed in order to investigate the closure mechanism and propagation mode of crack under the mixed-mode I+II loading. The crack closure under the mixed mode I+II is confirmed as a surface roughness closure by the quantitative analysis of fracture surface using the proposed surface roughness parameter.

  • The stress conditions acting on the practical structure are complex, and thus most cracks existing in the practical structures are under mixed-mode loading conditions. The effect of shear load component of mixed-mode loading acts more greatly in the stage of crack initiation and initial propagation than crack propagation stage. Hence, research on the behavior in the stage of crack initiation and initial propagation need to be examined in order to evaluate behavior of mixed-mode fatigue cracks. In this study, the crack tip displacement(CTD) was measured by using the direct measuring method(DMM). We examined the behavior at crack tip by determining crack opening load$(P_{op})$. From the test results, the propagation behavior of mixed-mode fatigue cracks was evaluated by considering mixed-mode crack closure. Also, we examined the characteristic of crack propagation under mixed-mode loading with crack propagation direction.

  • Crack tip displacement is originated by tensile stress component, s and shear stress component, t on pure Mode I and pure Mode II. The crack tip displacement(CTD) depends on combined types of different two stress components under mixed-mode loading conditions (MMLC). Thus, the analysis of crack tip displacement must be CTD vector, dv which is composition of ds and dt under MMLC. In this paper, various effects of MMLC on the crack closure are studied experimentally. The crack closure magnitude is calculated from the information of crack tip displacement under MMLC. This information has been obtained from the high resolution optical microscope in direct observations of crack displacement behavior at the crack tip. Observed crack tip displacement is analyzed by using CTD vector to determine crack opening load. The various effects of MMLC on the crack closure are explained using crack opening ratio with crack length and mode mixture. The effective stress intensity factor considering crack closure is also discussed.

  • 본 연구에서는 압력용기 소재인 SPV 50Q와 고압강관 소재로 사용하는 SPV 50Q 와 고압강간 소재로 사용하는 API 5A-K55에서의 표면균열의 표면방향과 깊이방향 또한 두께 평균에 대한 균열열림을 스트레인 게이지와 CMOD(Crack Mouth Opening Displace- ment)게이지를 이용하여 측정 비교하였다. 또한 표면균열의 균열 열림하중을 측정위 치에 따라 평가하고, 본연구에 사용한 두 소재에 대해 균열 열림을 고려한 표면균열 진전평가가 각 방향에 대해 이루어졌다.
