  • Policy problems are complex due to diverse participants and their relations in the policy processes. Defining the right problem in the first place is important because Type III error is likely to happen without removing rival hypothesis in defining the problem. This study applies Boundary Analysis suggested by Dunn to structure IT policy problems in Korea. The time frame of the study focuses on 5 years of Lee Administration and data are collected from four newspapers. Using content analysis, the study, first, elaborates total 2,614 policy problems from 1,908 stakeholders. After removing duplicating problems, 369 problems from 323 stakeholders are identified as a boundary of IT policy problem. Among others, failures in government policies are weighted as the most serious problems in IT policy field. However, many significant problems raised by stakeholders dated back to more than a decade, and those are intrinsic problems, which initially caused by market distortions in the IT industry. Therefore, we should be cautious not to overemphasize the most conspicuous problem as the only problem in the policy field when we interpret results of problem structuring.

Analysis was conducted for the units related to clothing contained in 10 different technology & home economics textbooks of 2nd grade middle school students approved by the Ministry of Education under the 7th national curriculum. Types of student activities were categorized based on "size of groups", "type of problems" and "methods of carrying out tasks" and the this study sought to explore future directions for action plans especially in terms of composition of contents, the methods of performance and suggestions. As a result, the volume of each part in clothing & textiles section was investigated. Among them 'dressing' part was found to make up the largest percentage of the clothing unit. And among the six of the detailed contents, "How to Wear Traditional Korean Clothes" and "Functions of Clothes", took up the largest space. In additions, the types of students activities and methods of implementing and how to performing tasks vary depending on publishing companies and detailed contents of areas. As a result, 'individual activities', 'structured problem', and 'problems that require prior home-based experience' were most common types of activities. Based on this study, it is suggested to increase the number of small group activities and the activities that require diverse problem-solving methods.

  • This study is convergence study of path model for the relationship among self esteem(SE), critical thinking disposition(CTD), problem solving skills(PSS) and motivation toward learning(MTL). The survey was performed on 207 nursing students in one college. Data was collected using a structured questionnaires and analysed with PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Model fit indices were in good agreement with recommended level(${\chi}^2/df=2.128$, GFI=.995, AGFI=.949, RMSEA=.074, CFI=.993, NFI=.988). Based on the path model, SE(${\beta}=.205$), PSS(${\beta}=.420$) showed a direct effect on MTL while CTD(${\beta}=.182$) showed a indirect effect on MTL. The SE showed a direct effect on CTD(${\beta}=.398$) and CTD(${\beta}=.433$) showed a direct effect on PSS. The findings indicate the necessity of developing educational programs to enhance nursing student's SE for increasing of MTL.

The subjects of the study were 295 college students who understood and agreed on the purpose of this study and conducted questionnaires using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that depression was the most influential factor in the problem drinking behavior of college students in Daegu and Kyungbuk provinces, followed by gender, academic performance, and residental type. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an intervention program that takes into account the social psychological approach to prevent depression of college students and the characteristics of gender, academic performance, and residental type in order to prevent problem drinking of college students.
