The purpose of this study is to systematically measure the effectiveness of continuous education of librarians using the Kirkpatrick education evaluation model. A three-stage educational evaluation was conducted on 136 librarian teachers who participated in the 『Qualification training for librarian teacher level 1』 in the summer of 2022. The first stage was a satisfaction survey on the overall education, and the second and third stages were investigated before and after education, and the actual effect of education was measured by pre-post difference analysis. The second stage is learning evaluation, and the third stage is job competency improvement evaluation. As a result of the study, high measurement scores were calculated at all stages, and the before and after effect of education was statistically significant in the second stage of learning evaluation. In the third stage of the job competency improvement evaluation, the score fell after education, but it was not statistically significant. Significant results were derived from the second stage of evaluation, and future studies suggested that the evaluation model should be supplemented and that a balanced curriculum should be designed to produce valid results.

This study is arguing about the development of professionalism of children's librarians. For this, I investigated the conditions of operation in the course of library and information science and continuing education related to the training of children's librarians. Furthermore, I analyzed their problems. After this, I suggested the methods for the development of professionalism of children's librarians.

이 연구는 공공도서관 사서의 정보활용능력 수준에 대한 자기인식과 실제 평가를 통해 Big6모형을 기반으로 하여 공공도서관 사서의 정보활용능력 수준실태를 78명의 사서를 대상으로 실험하였다. 연구 결과, 정보요구 영역은 높게, 정보평가 영역에 대해서는 다른 영역보다 낮게 나타났지만 모든 영역에 대해서 평균이상으로 조사되어 사서들의 정보활용교육 필요성을 파악할 수 있었다. 특히 정보활용교육 경험여부에 대한 두 집단간의 차이는 정보이용 영역을 제외하고는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

The study aims at identifying catalogers' perception of competencies in cataloging. The study focuses on cataloging and classification knowledge, library systems, materials, metadata formats, authority control, foreign language, computer skills, and interdependence and personal skills. It discusses the gap between previous studies and catalogers' perceptions of competencies required for the job. It provides implications for cataloging education. It has values in that the study as an exploratory study urges continuous studies to identify how catalogers' perceptions are changed according to information environment. It will be a base to develop job descriptions for catalogers.

This paper proposes a continuing educational program for librarian, as to reinforce the professionalism. It researches the previous educational attainments of undergraduates who studied library science. Then it analyses the current continuing programs of the National Library of Korea and librarians' demands for the program. The research also compares ALA and SLA as foreign cases of continuing programs, and their trends observed from the newly opened sessions. This paper, therefore, reports a series of educational contents in library science by their subjects. The proposed curriculum includes subjects including electronic publishing and copyrights, Future of Library, Taxonomy and controlled vocabulary, Patent Information. Science Information Literacy, Open Access Program, The Value of Library, Licensed Issues, Customer Service program etc.

The purpose of this study was to develop a curriculum model for the professional development of children's librarians at the university level through literature reviews, theoretical studies, survey of children's librarians' needs for their professional development, and investigation of the conditions of operation in the course of library and information sciences. The curriculum consists of five areas: (1) children's librarian, (2) child, (3) materials, (4) service, and (5) library management. There are two tracks: one for refinement in 90 hours, and the other for professional development in 165 hours. Some courses are made up practical activities drawn from theoretical foundations. The courses blend on-line and off-line styles of learning.

The purpose of this paper is to compare the library and information education system in Ost-and West Germany. This study suggests ameliorated Library and Information Science education, and its curriculum for education of national subject specialists. For that purpose, this study investigates and compares four internal universities, three American universities along with the figures of the present and future subjects to face updated educational plans and prepare to become a new information specialist at ALA(American Library Association), ALISE(Association for Library and Information Science Education), and other agents. The results of this study can be used as the basic data for training 'subject specialist' in the university curriculum.

대학도서관 사서는 이용자에게 신속한 지식정보를 제공하고 변화하는 교육환경에 신속하게 적용하고 정보욕구를 충족시키고 조직을 발전시키기 위하여 도서관의 기본요소 항목인 사서확보와 장서확충 및 예산과 시설이 잘 갖추어 지도록 노려해야 할 것이다. 그 중에서 대학도서관이 가지는 다양한 기능과 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 도서관에 근무하는 사서의 역할이 중요하다. 왜냐하면 사서의 직무수행이 이용자에 대한 정보서비스의 품질과 밀접하기 때문이다. 특히 전문대학은 설립기관이나 교육목표에 따라 차이는 있을 수 있지만 전문인력을 양성하는 기관으로 인식되는 것은 같다. 하지만 4년제 대학에 비하여 봉사대상은 비슷한 수준임에도 불구하고 상대적으로 기준, 시설, 예산면에서 열악한 전문대학 사서의 현실과 현황을 비교해 보고 사서 구성원을 검토함으로써 전문대학만이 가지는 문제점을 파악하고 전문대학 도서관 사서도 전문직으로서 자부심을 가짐으로써 열악한 전문대학 현실에 대응할 수 있는 대처방안을 모색해 보고자 한다.

The purpose of this study are to analyze tasks of the public librarians through Job Analysis ('DACUM') and to survey the demands of professional librarian (professional librarian types), As the results, In public libraries, technical services (classification, cataloging etc.,) is reduced, while reading, culture (continued education), and information service are increased. Also, we identified 5 types of professional librarian which is composed 4 function oriented types, and 1 user oriented types, is suggested : reading coach, cultural service librarian, external work librarian, computing support librarian, children librarian.
