  • This study recruited 11 teachers with experience in guiding science exhibitions nationwide to investigate the perception and necessity of teachers as educational consumers of science exhibitions, one of the out-of-school science education activities, and conducted an in-depth written survey. An average of more than 3,600 characters answered a total of seven questions in writing, and through qualitative analysis, the growth of students and teachers due to participation in science exhibitions, difficulties in participating in competitions, and teachers' voices for revitalization were recognized. Teachers offered positive opinions in that participation in science exhibitions improves students' knowledge and attitudes related to science and experiences an open inquiry process linked to career advancement in science and engineering. However, the students who participated in the competition failed to record the contents of the inquiry in their school records, and instructors pointed out the obsession with discovering novel topics, the burden of guiding the inquiry process, and the limitations of their expertise in major knowledge. In order to revitalize science exhibitions, 17 city and provincial education offices called for measures to strengthen the capabilities of instructors and students, improve the promotion and screening methods of the National Science Museum, and improve the Ministry of Education's school records.

Considering experiences of HE teachers and diversity in regions, twelve male teachers were chosen, and in-depth interviews were conducted between June 1st and July 31st, 2019. The transcription of the data was transferred to the Hancom Office Hangeul 2010 while the researcher listened to the recordings of the interviews. The total amount of transcription data was 174 pages, and the data were analyzed through open coding, categorization, and category verification. The themes identified as results of this study were as follows: First, 'Coincidence: Breaking the Wall of Prejudice' is related to the experiences that have a great influence on the formation of identity as a male HE teacher: motivation to enter the HE department, educational practice, etc. Through this, the experience of becoming a male HE teacher was recorded. • Issues on climate change we are facing, such as global warming, are very important as it affects our lives directly. To overcome this, efforts to reduce greenhouse gases emissions (e.g., carbon dioxide) are necessary and these efforts should be based on our integrated understanding of carbon cycle. The purpose of this study is to examine the research trend on carbon cycle education and to suggest the value and direction of carbon cycle education for students who will be citizens of the future. We analyzed 52 carbon cycle education related studies collected from academic research databases (RISS, KCI, ERIC, Google Scholar, and others). As a result, we conclude that resources are still limited and more researches on verification and utilization of developed program, development of accurate and comprehensive tools for students' recognition and level assessment, developing educational model or teacher professional development, providing more appropriate curriculum resources, and the use of various topics or materials for carbon cycle education are necessary. Students' comprehensive understanding of the carbon cycle is important to actively react to the changes in the global environment. Therefore, to support such learning opportunities, resources that can be connected to students' daily experiences to improve students' understanding of carbon cycle and replace misconceptions based on the verification of existing programs should be provided in the classroom as well as the curriculum. In addition, sufficient exemplary cases in carbon cycle education including various materials and topics should be provided through professional development to support teachers teaching strategies with carbon cycle.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how educational experience (teaching experience, experience participating in the Teacher Learning Community, curriculum training experience, and innovative experience working in school) of elementary school teachers affects the recognition and execution of curriculum and textbooks. For this purpose, the results of a questionnaire survey for elementary school teachers were analyzed by performing T-tests, One-Way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results were as follows. First, according to the teacher's educational experience, there were statistically significant differences in the recognition and execution of curriculum reorganization, and the recognition and dependence on textbooks. Second, there were statistically significant correlations among such variables as recognition and implementation of curriculum reorganization, and the recognition and dependence on textbooks. Third, the teacher's educational experience had a significant impact on curriculum reorganization and the dependence on textbooks. Curriculum restructuring in elementary schools is not an end in itself. What is also needed is to find and implement the best class plans for promoting the .meaningful growth and development of elementary school students. This study suggests that the dependence on textbooks should be lowered and the curriculum should be actively reorganized, and teachers should develop their expertise based on extensive educational experience.

  • Competency means 'the ability to do something', and competency-based education means 'the process of education based on the concept of competency'. Competency-based education is generally implemented in general education. However, competency-based education has not yet been actively conducted in the field of Christian education. In particular, it has not been established academically on what competencies Christian alternative schools provide in common. Most of the previous studies related to competency-based education in Christian education are related to competency-based education conducted by Christian universities. Research related to competency in Christian alternative schools is mainly related to the professionalism of teachers or the ideology of Christian alternative schools. In other words, there are few specific studies on what kind of competency they provide to students attending Christian alternative schools. Therefore, this study aims to understand the reality of competency-based education conducted by Christian alternative schools using Delphi analysis techniques. Through this study, four goals and 20 competency elements of competency education pursued by Christian alternative schools were found. By categorizing the goals and elements of competency education, it can be divided into relationships with God, relationships with oneself, and relationships with others and the world. In conclusion, it was suggested that Christian alternative schools should provide education that pursues the universal purpose of Christian education based on specificity and reflect the goals and elements of competency education in the curriculum.
