Integrated-optic asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer at $1.3{\mu}m$ wavelength and segmented electrode structure were designed and fabricated as a sensing part for the electric-field measurement system. The device was simulated based on the BPM software and fabricated utilizing Ti-diffused $LiNbO_3$ channel optical waveguides and lumped-type electrodes. Almost half-maximum power transmission was observed for asymmetric interferometers with ${\pi}/2$ intrinsic phase difference. Expected experimental measurements were observed for 1KHz electrical signal bandwidth.

The hydrolysis of biochemical kinetic resolutions for 2-[1-(acetoxy-2, 2, 2-trifluoroethyl)]-5-trimethylsilylfuran(1) using kinds of Lifase(talpase, paratase, M1000L, SP398, SP435) was investigated. In the results SP435 of Novo Nordish comp any was confirmed to show the capacity of biochemical kinetic resolutions, and 2-(1-(2, 2, 2-trifluoro-1-hydroxyethyl)]-5-trimethylsilylfuran(2) to have the optical purity expressed as 92.4% enantiomeric excess(ee) was produced in this studies.

We have flattened the gain of EDFA by using a long-period FBG filter and AOTF's. The gain and optical SNR characteristics of the gain-flattened EDFA in long-haul transmission been evaluated in a recirculating EDFA loop. The gain variation was less than 4.6 dB and the optical SNR was higher than 14 dB over 20-nm wavelength range when the optical signal went through the EDFA as many as 200 times. These results indicate that this gain-flattened EDFA is applicable for ultra long-haul WDM optical transmissions over 8000 km.

Optical resolution of racemic ${\alpha}$-methylbenzylamine was carried out by using Bacillus licheniformis protease in organic media. Enantioselective amidation of racemic amino with an ester as an acyl donor was successfully employed to resolve the racemate. To enhance reaction rate and enantioselectivity, pH-adjustment by lyophilization of enzyme dissolved in buffer, colyophilization with salts or lyoprotectants, selection of solvents and molecular design of esters were investigated. The optimization of the resolution reaction achieved about 30-fold increase in initial reaction rate and about 12-fold increase in enantioselectivity, respectively.
