A Comparison of the Characteristics of Analogies Generated by Middle School Students Depending on Their Scientific Creativity, Field Independence/dependence, and Learning Approach (과학적 창의성, 장독립성·장의존성, 학습접근양식에 따른 중학생이 생성한 비유의 특징 비교)

  • In this study, we investigated the characteristics of analogies generated by middle school students in the perspectives of the number of analogies, the mapping understanding, and the diversity and originality of analogs. We also compared the results by students' scientific creativity, field independence/dependence, and learning approach. Participants in this study were 250 9th graders in Seoul. The analyses of the results revealed that the students of higher scientific creativity generated more analogies, had a higher level of mapping understanding, and used more diverse and original sources. Field independent students had a higher level of mapping understanding. However, the other characteristics of analogies were not related to field independence/dependence. Meaningful understanding approach was related to all the characteristics of analogies, while rote learning approach was not related to any characteristics of analogies. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

  • In computer-based virtual lab, a bioscience researcher who wants to obtain bio information first uses a biodiversity-related database to retrieve information on species, ecology and distribution of an organism. The researcher also needs to access gene/protein databases such as GenBank or PDB to find information on the organism's genetic sequence and protein structure. Furthermore, the researcher should search for academic papers containing the information on the organism so that his research is based on comprehensive and accurate information. This series of activities often undermines research efficiency as it takes a lot of time and causes inconvenience on the part of researchers. To solve such inconvenience, we analyzed various methods for integrated search and chosen schema integration. In addition, we analyzed each databases and extracted metadata for designing schema integration. This paper introduces a biological information retrieval system(BIRS) using schema integration and it's interface that will increase research efficiency for bioscience.

  • 국내 상수도가 보급되지 않은 지역 내 취약 계층은 약 214만 명으로 대부분은 노후관정 및 미신고 관정에서 지하수를 먹는물로 이용하고 있다. 이들은 대부분 미신고 관정이기 때문에 실태파악이 어렵고 정기적인 수질 검사를 실시하지 않아 수질상태에 대한 안전 대책이 미흡한 실정이다. 우리나라의 경우 농촌지역의 관정은 천부지하수의 의존도가 크고 강우에 의한 지표오염물질(축산분뇨, 비료 등)이 관정 내부로 유입 가능성이 매우 높다. 기존 연구에서도 천부지하수 관정의 조사 결과, 질산성질소 및 총대장균군에 의한 수질 오염이 심각하다고 보고된다(Chae et al., 2004; Min et al., 2003). 따라서 상수도 미보급지역 지하수 관정의 지하수 수질 현황을 파악하고, 고농도 오염 관정 및 지역의 경우 정밀조사를 통해 오염 원인을 규명해야 한다. 또한 오염 원인에 대한 향후 개선방안 및 대책안을 마련하여 지하수 수질 안정성 확보를 도모할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 환경부 산하 국립환경과학원에서는 안심지하수 지원 사업을 2012년 "지하수 안심이용 무료 수질검사 시범사업"부터 시작하여 2016년 "상수도 미보급지역 2016년 안심지하수 지원사업 연구"로 이어지며 수행하였다. 이 사업은 수질분석, 관정내부 탐사, 마을 공용 음용관정 설치지원, 고농도 오염지역 중 시범사업 지역 선정, 고농도 오염지역 수질개선 시범사업으로 구성된다. 수질 분석은 2012년 TA군 내 8개 읍 면의 1,200개 관정, 2013년 경기 북동부권 8개 시 군 11,861개 관정, 2014년 전국 14,494개 관정, 2015년 전국 25,900 관정, 2016년 전국 25,914 관정에 대해 수질 분석을 실시하였다. 수질분석 결과를 바탕으로 고농도 오염지역의 지하수 관정 내부 탐사를 실시하여 소유주에게 주변 환경 개선 조치 및 대민 지원(마을 공용 음용관정 설치)을 수행하고, 시범조사 대상지역을 선정하여 오염지역의 오염원 현황, 수질조사, 지하수 유동 모델링을 실시하여 오염 원인을 파악하였다. 추가로 2014년에는 안심지하수 수질보전 연구로드맵을 작성하여 환경부에 제시하였고, 2015년은 수질개선 사업에 대한 경제성 분석, 수질자료 DB 구축이 완료되었다.

The Design of Gamification to Improve Youth's Creativity : The Cases of 'Idea League' and 'Idea Company' (청소년의 창의성 향상을 위한 게이미피케이션 설계 방안 : '아이디어 리그' 및 '아이디어 컴퍼니' 사례)

  • This study presents the cases of 'Idea League' and 'Idea Company' designed to improve the creativity of youth, the protagonist of the future startup in 'Idea Maru' platform. The 'Idea League' is a service where youths suggest ideas about questions that require creativity, and it can be fun to compete rankings of ideas or directly evaluate other ideas. Besides, 'Idea Company' is a service for youths to establish a virtual company, and they can receive mentoring and simulated investment for the established virtual company. The result of this study suggests that gamification can be applied in non-game areas, and it will contribute to spreading positive perception of the game.

A Distributed Real-time Self-Diagnosis System for Processing Large Amounts of Log Data (대용량 로그 데이터 처리를 위한 분산 실시간 자가 진단 시스템)

  • Distributed computing helps to efficiently store and process large data on a cluster of multiple machines. The performance of distributed computing is greatly influenced depending on the state of the servers constituting the distributed system. In this paper, we propose a self-diagnosis system that collects log data in a distributed system, detects anomalies and visualizes the results in real time. First, we divide the self-diagnosis process into five stages: collecting, delivering, analyzing, storing, and visualizing stages. Next, we design a real-time self-diagnosis system that meets the goals of real-time, scalability, and high availability. The proposed system is based on Apache Flume, Apache Kafka, and Apache Storm, which are representative real-time distributed techniques. In addition, we use simple but effective moving average and 3-sigma based anomaly detection technique to minimize the delay of log data processing during the self-diagnosis process. Through the results of this paper, we can construct a distributed real-time self-diagnosis solution that can diagnose server status in real time in a complicated distributed system.

Text Mining of Online News, Social Media, and Consumer Review on Artificial Intelligence Service (인공지능 서비스에 대한 온라인뉴스, 소셜미디어, 소비자리뷰 텍스트마이닝)

  • This study looked through the text mining analysis to check the status of the virtual assistant service, and explore the needs of consumers, and present consumer-oriented directions. Trendup 4.0 was used to analyze the keywords of AI services in Online News and social media from 2016 to 2020. The R program was used to collect consumer comment data and implement Topic Modeling analysis. According to the analysis, the number of mentions of AI services in mass media and social media has steadily increased. The Sentimental Analysis showed consumers were feeling positive about AI services in terms of useful and convenient functional and emotional aspects such as pleasure and interest. However, consumers were also experiencing complexity and difficulty with AI services and had concerns and fears about the use of AI services in the early stages of their introduction. The results of the consumer review analysis showed that there were topics(Technical Requirements) related to technology and the access process for the AI services to be provided, and topics (Consumer Request) expressed negative feelings about AI services, and topics(Consumer Life Support Area) about specific functions in the use of AI services. Text mining analysis enable this study to confirm consumer expectations or concerns about AI service, and to examine areas of service support that consumers experienced. The review data on each platform also revealed that the potential needs of consumers could be met by expanding the scope of support services and applying platform-specific strengths to provide differentiated services.

The clinical and microbiological effects of non-surgical periodontal treatments in necrotizing periodontal disease: case report (괴사성 치주질환 환자에서 비외과적 치주치료의 임상적 미생물학적 효과: 증례 보고)

  • Necrotizing periodontal disease caused by plaque bacteria is showed clinical findings including pseudo-membrane, interproximal necrosis of the affected area, pain on palpation and gingiva bleeding. Microbiological examination is showed that patients have fusospirochetal bacteria. Two patients who were provisionally diagnosed as necrotizing periodontal disease received nonsurgical periodontal treatments in conjunction with dressing using 3% hydrogen peroxide and local antibiotic delivery. Before and 3 - 5 days after initial treatment, the levels of periodontal bacteria in gingival crevicular fluid obtained using quantitative PCR were compared. After treatment, patients recovered normal gingiva. The number of periodontal diseases related bacterial species decreased from seven or eight to one. As a result, periodontium of patients with necrotizing periodontal disease was recovered to normal periodontium by nonsurgical periodontal treatments.

  • 지난 140여년(1880~2022)간 지구의 연평균 기온은 약 1.5℃ 상승하였다. 이에 따라 폭염, 홍수, 가뭄 등 이상기후 발생이 급증하고 있으며, 생태계가 급격히 변화하여 담수호의 산소량 또한 급속히 감소하고 있다. 소양호는 총길이 60 km, 유역면적 2.703 km2, 최대저수량 29억톤으로, 유역면적은 북한강 유역의 25%에 달하며 북한강 상류에 위치하고 있는 국내 최대의 인공호이다. 따라서 소양호 유역의 관리는 북한강 유역의 수질 관리와 수도권 수자원 공급의 핵심 중 하나라고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 기후변화에 따라 소양호의 성층현상에도 변동이 생겼을 것으로 판단되고 있다. 호소의 성층현상은 수심에 따른 온도의 변화로 발생하는 현상으로, 성층현상이 심하면 유체는 연직운동이 제한되고 상대적으로 수평방향 운동이 활발해진다. 소양호는 수심이 매우 깊으며, 열용량이 크기 때문에 여름에 성층이 형성되는 온대일순환호(warm monomictic lake)로 분리된다. 성층현상이 심하면 호소 하부의 저층에서는 용존산소가 거의 없어 혐기성 상태가 되고, 침전된 유기물이 혐기성 미생물에 의해 분해되기 때문에 수질은 크게 악화된다. 따라서 본 연구는 30년간의 소양호의 수온과 DO의 변동을 분석하여 성층현상의 변동성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이에 따라 약 30년간(1993년 1월~2022년 12월) 0~90 m까지 측정한 수온, DO 데이터를 이용하였다. 데이터는 매달 최소 1회~최대 5회 측정된 자료 중 가장 수심이 깊게 측정된 날의 자료를 이용하였다. 1월과 2월의 데이터는 동절기로 인해 소양호 조사를 실시할 수 없어 제외하였다. 수온의 경우 30년간 서서히 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 0~90m 전반에 걸쳐서도 대체로 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 6월에 성층현상이 더 심해지고, 겨울에는 연직운동이 감소하는 모습을 보였다. DO의 경우 용존산소가 중층에서 최저를 보이는 Metalimnetic oxygen minimum을 보였으며, 2008년까지는 거의 매년 농도 2.0mg/L 이하인 달이 있었으나 그 이후에는 회복되어 대부분 2.0 mg/L 이상을 보였다. 그러나 심층의 경우에는 2014년부터 DO 농도 3 미만으로 떨어지는 경우가 증가하였다.

A thermodynamic analysis on thermochromism of fluoran dyes (Fluoran계 염료의 열변색 현상에 관한 열역학적 분석)

  • The thermochromism of fluoran has been examined. The DCF exists as a colorless lactone in aprotic solvents. However, the DCF exists in the form of an equilibrium mixture of a colored zwitter-ion and a colorless lactone in protic solvents. When an acid is added to the solution, the DCF exists an equilibrium mixture as a colorless lactone and a colored cation even in aprotic solvents. In order to understand the interaction between the DCF and the solvent, absorption spectra of the DCF in various solvents were measured. The thermodynamic parameters of the DCF have also been investigated. From the variation of absorbance with temperature, the standard enthalpy changes ${\Delta}H^0$ of the equilibrium between the lactone and the zwitter-ion in various solvents have been determined. The standard enthalpy change ${\Delta}H^0$ is approximately -2.0 kJ/mol in protic solvents. In acidic solution, the standard enthalpy change is measured to be to zero in protic solvents within the experimental error. When the carboxylic group is protonated in acidic solution, a poor interaction between the dye and the solvent is expected.

How to Strengthen Convergeance of Special Operations through High-Tech Intertwinement (첨단과학기술의 융복합을 통한 특수작전의 융합성 강화 방안)

  • Convergeance in the military operations can be attained by simultaneously integrating effects based on sensor, C2, shooter asset in multi-domain and there is no exception to special operations. However, because of challenges from enemy, terrain, geopraphy, and weather, it's not easy to intertwine effects created from ground, sea, air, cyber and electromagnetic spectrum, and space in special operations conducted in deep area. This study presented how to intertwine high-tech such as long-rane reconnaissance·strike drone, cutting-edge sensor, jamming pod, and modular repeater in order to offset aforementioned challenges. Several new high-tech are able to strengthen convergeance of special operations in accordance with the development of the 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, follow-up studies need to be continued making an efforts to search for them.
