  • The RSS which is a kind of syndication technology enables a part or the whole of the content which it provides from web site to be able to be used in different service. It is protocol to summarize and share various contents on web site. This Paper propose the ways to implement system to aggregate RSS feed and archive it and the services using it. Also, the users register the channel RSS to the RSS aggregator system and recommend it. It can drive to share of knowledge between researchers.

Design and Implementation of Service based Virtual Screening System in Grids (그리드에서 서비스 기반 가상 탐색 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • A virtual screening is the process of reducing an unmanageable number of compounds to a limited number of compounds for the target of interest by means of computational techniques such as molecular docking. And it is one of a large-scale scientific application that requires large computing power and data storage capability. Previous applications or softwares for molecular docking such as AutoDock, FlexX, Glide, DOCK, LigandFit, ViSION were developed to be run on a supercomputer, a workstation, or a cluster-computer. However the virtual screening using a supercomputer has a problem that a supercomputer is very expensive and the virtual screening using a workstation or a cluster-computer requires a long execution time. Thus we propose a service-based virtual screening system using Grid computing technology which supports a large data intensive operation. We constructed 3-dimensional chemical molecular database for virtual screening. And we designed a resource broker and a data broker for supporting efficient molecular docking service and proposed various services for virtual screening. We implemented service based virtual screening system with DOCK 5.0 and Globus 3.2 toolkit. Our system can reduce a timeline and cost of drug or new material design.

A Case Study on International Technology Transfer of Korean Public Information Systems and Recommendations for NTIS (국내 공공정보시스템의 국제기술이전 사례연구 및 NTIS 제언)

  • It is well known that international technology transfer(ITT) is relatively more difficult than the domestic technology transfer because of the difference in interest, technology level, culture and other various macro-environmental conditions. This study aims to derive recommendations for ITT of National Science and Technology Information Service(NTIS) of Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning(MSIP) by conducting case study of ITT in domestic public information systems. The cases are the national agencies that performed successfully in ITT. The cases are Korea Customs Service(KCS)'s customs administration system(UNI-PASS), Public Procurement Service(PPS)'s Korea On-Line E-Procurement System(KONEPS), and Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO). After studying on how the cases proceeded ITT, this paper suggests proper preparation strategies in the view point of information marketing.

A Design-phase Quality Model for Ubiquitous Service Ontology (유비쿼터스 서비스 온톨로지를 위한 설계 품질 모델)

  • Effective service description and modeling methodologies are essential for dynamic service composition to provide autonomous services for users in ubiquitous computing environments. In our previous research, we proposed a 'u-Service' as an abstract and structured concept for operations of devices in ubiquitous environments. In addition, we established the mechanism to structure u-Services as an ontology and the description specification to represent attributes of u-Services. However, it did not provide enough methods or standards to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the u-Service ontology in the design time. Since existing quality models for software products or computing systems cannot consider characteristics of ubiquitous services, they are not suitable for ubiquitous service ontology. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a quality evaluation model to design and modeling a good ubiquitous service ontology, based on our u-Service ontology building process. We extract modeling goals and evaluation indicators according to characteristics of ubiquitous service ontology, and establish quality metrics to quantify each quality sub-characteristics. The experiment result of the proposed quality evaluation model for u-Service ontologies which are constructed for our previous works shows that we can analyze the design of ubiquitous service ontology from various angles, and indicate recommendations for improvement.

  • Having been speed development of science and technology, every year a huge amount of research results have been produced and national research and development reports have been come to round about 20,000 cases per year. National R&D projects can be a ripple effect on industry, economy and scientific research. Not only papers, patents, fact information, the information on biological diversity but national R&D reports database are constructed, collected and provided by KISTI. This paper will put emphasis on the construction and the collection of national R&D reports and intend to discuss the objective improvement about systematical and institutional problem.

Meta-Analysis of Domestic ST Database Evaluation (데이터베이스 정보 품질 평가의 메타분석)

  • This investigation used meta-analysis to examine the quality of data of domestic ST(Science & Technical) databases. Analyses measured the quality of data itself, determined whether these databases have any critical errors in terms of accuracy, completeness, and consistency by conducting the data retrieval experiments. The purpose of this study was to diagnose the science & technical databases and to find out the problems of them and also to provide possible suggestions for their improvements. The researcher concluded the results by mentioning the three research questions.

  • This study aims to identify the core life-cycle elements for archiving digital content through analyzing the existing digital content life-cycle models and suggest the remedies for management the digital content of KISTI after a comparative study. As a result, the 10 core life-cycle categories consisted of 31 small elements were defined. Furthermore, the recommendations that digital content archiving should be set as a critical mission and archiving policy should be prepared in KISTI were proved.

  • Lately, most of the libraries subscribe electronic resources such as e-journals, under the license contracts for the access and use of these electronic resources. It was found that the management of licensed electronic resources in the library has become one of the major problems due to the lack of proper metadata elements in the existing management system of electronic resources. The purpose of the study is to establish metadata for licensed electronic resources.

Efficient Transaction Processing in Hybrid Data Delivery (혼합 데이타 전송에서 효율적인 트랜잭션 처리)

  • Push-based broadcasting in wireless information services is a very effective technique to disseminate information to a massive number of clients when the number of data items is small. When the database is large, however, it nay be beneficial to integrate a pull-based (client-to-server) backchannel with the push-based broadcast approach, resulting in a hybrid data delivery. In this paper, we analyze the performance behavior of a predeclaration-based transaction processing, which was originally devised for a push-based data broadcast, in the hybrid data delivery through an extensive simulation. Our results show that the use of predeclaration-based transaction processing can provide significant performance improvement not only in a pure push data delivery, but also in a hybrid data delivery.
