미국 DOE(Department of energy) 산하 EERE(the office of energy efficiency and renewable energy)에서는 시행되고 있는 일반 프로그램 평가(General Program Evaluation) 중 하나인 과정 평가(Process Evaluation)는 프로그램의 수행의 효율성과 유효성을 평가하기 위해 수행된다.
As a part of the second-year monitoring study on the implementation of the 2015 revised science curriculum in middle schools, this study focuses more on examining middle school science teachers' perceptions on the process-based assessment (PBA). A total of 105 middle school science teachers (44 teachers from science leading schools, 61 teachers from ordinary schools) responded to the survey questionnaire, and 16 teachers participated in interviews. The results include teachers' perceptions on the changes in their teaching and assessment methods, some challenges of implementing PBA, and educational implications of PBA. Survey results indicate that the teachers perceived themselves using more PBA methods after the 2015 revised science curriculum was launched. The teachers in science-leading schools present statistically higher average scores to the items on the PBA utilization than the ones in ordinary schools. However, the teachers felt confused in conceptually differentiating PBA from prior performance-based assessment. They also experienced some conflicts when implementing PBA under the achievement-oriented school atmospheres. In addition, they often faced difficulties in securing objectivity and reliability of PBA and felt the burden of evaluating individual students. This study suggests the necessity of giving more authority and trust to science teachers regarding PBA, constructing more supportive environment to cultivate teacher competency as evaluation experts, and the need to reduce task burden. However, some teachers who actively implemented PBA express some level of satisfaction as observing students' positive reaction to PBA.

This study investigates the perceptions, Stages of Concern (SoC), and Levels of Use (LoU) regarding process-based assessment among Home Economics (HE) teachers to determine the necessary support for its implementation in schools. Data were gathered from a survey administered to HE teachers. The results are as follows. First, HE teachers viewed process-based assessment favorably, valuing its multifaceted evaluation approach over result-based assessment. The feedback from process-based assessments was seen as an opportunity for reflection for both educators and students. While some teachers expressed uncertainty about the optimal timing of implementation, they generally demonstrated a sound understanding of the feedback concept within the assessment process. HE teachers were predominantly concerned with their own professional expertise and the learning outcomes of their students. The majority of HE teachers have utilized process-based assessments for at least one semester. None deemed it irrelevant to their practice or showed disinterest in its adoption. Those who had yet to implement it were either in the first(introduction) or the second(preparation) stages.

The purpose of this study is to analyze application status about the process-centered assessment in elementary school science classes. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 133 teachers and 2,089 students in elementary schools, and in-depth interviews with eight teachers were conducted. Elementary school teachers had a positive attitude toward the adoption of the process-centered assessment of 2015 revised science curriculum. After applying 2015 revised science curriculum, teachers used more performance assessments and less traditional ones in science classes. Elementary school students recognized that they receive feedbacks from their teachers more often with the implementation of the 2015 revised science curriculum. Through in-depth interviews, it was possible to confirm the difficulty of applying the process-centered assessment of elementary school teachers, such as lack of understanding of process-centered assessment and lack of time for its application. Based on the results of the study, the necessity for improving teacher understanding of process-centered assessment and the need to disseminate process-centered assessment materials are suggested.
The recent Korean mathematics curriculum stresses to teach mathematics focusing on mathematical process composed of problem solving, reasoning and communication. To be successful in applying the rationale of the process-focused mathematics education, the assessment practice in classrooms should be also centered on mathematical process. In this study we conducted a large-scale survey on teachers' perspectives about the process-focused mathematics assessment. First, we surveyed teachers' opinion on current assessment practices in school mathematics related to regular school exams and performance assessments. Second, we investigated teachers' perception on mathematical process components such as problem solving, reasoning, and communication regarding how they should be assessed. Finally, we examined the difference of teachers' opinion according to their teaching experience, city size, and the type of school. Based on the results, we discussed implications for mathematics assessment and process-focused mathematical assessment.
This study analyzed how characteristics of process-focused assessment are implemented in the distributed process-focused assessment examples in elementary school science education. To this end, through a review of previous studies, the analysis perspectives on the characteristics of the process-focused assessment were extracted into six categories. Using the analysis framework, it was described how process-focused assessment examples in elementary school science education developed by metropolitan office of education reflected the characteristics of process-focused assessment. As a result of the study, the characteristics of process-focused assessment were often formally reflected in sample materials. For example, there was a lack of skills on how to effectively integrate instruction and evaluation in practical terms. In many cases, feedback simply induced a recall of a learned concept or simply guides a related scientific concept. In some cases, the characteristics of process-focused assessment did not appear prominently in the sample materials. Also the developed sample materials were divided into the same type as the existing science and performance assessment questionnaire, a narrative·essay type, and a type similar to experimental workbook.
As a method to lead a change in mathematics education, recently reformation of assessment appears as a concept of process-focused assessment. Process-focused assessment is the concept that 2015 revised mathematics curriculum aims for, which is promoted also in policy. This research suggested a significance of process-focused assessment that has not been determined in conceptualization and the practical model. For this, this research investigated the content of the assessment on 2015 revised mathematics curriculum, and explored process-focused assessment based on the recent education assessment theory and research. Also, we suggested a model of practical plan by investigating the condition to perform the process-focused assessment. This research could take a basic role to practice process-focused assessment and investigate the concrete plan in the mathematics class field.

The purpose of this study was to analyze reports from research middle schools based on the criteria for process-focused assessment to find out how the characteristics of process-focused assessment were being implemented in middle school science classes. The analysis criteria for the characteristics of process-focused assessment (integration of lessons and assessments, evaluation elements and methods, content and timing of feedback, and learner growth management) were extracted. Using the analysis framework, the result reports of seven research middle schools for process-focused assessment were analyzed. In terms of integration of lessons and assessments, when the process-focused assessment was operated, the class and evaluation plan were well implemented based on the curriculum achievement standards, but the process-focused assessment was recognized as a performance evaluation. In terms of evaluation elements and methods, the evaluation element for knowledge was the main component, and competency was presented in the planning stage, but competency was not dealt with in class execution. The evaluation method was biased toward teacher-centered observation evaluation and written test, and the setting of scoring criteria for each evaluation element was insufficient. In terms of the content and timing of feedback, feedback was mainly provided based on achievement confirmation, but no case was found in which scaffolding was provided at an appropriate time for insufficient parts in the learning process. In terms of the learner's growth management, the competencies cultivated through science classes were included in the detailed subject specialties of the school record. However, little was shown in the report on how to systematically manage the process of developing learners' competencies and reflect the evaluation results to teachers' class improvement.
