This study was performed to analyze time series landuse pattern of urban areas and the change of the areas by using remotely sensed multiple sensors. The results were as follows. First, according to the result of time series analysis, most agricultural land has been changed into built-up areas by development work such as the land development or land readjustment project, arrangement of science parks or military facilities, and location of public establishment like government buildings. Second, if the expansion of built-up areas maintains the present scale and speed, it seems that a lot of parts of land would be changed into built-up areas, especially centering around agricultural land, so it is necessary to establish the plan for urban space. Third, I have synthetically collected the data of the project of urban development and systematically monitored the process of in expansion the built-up areas up to now (from the past). I hereby could lay the foundation that makes us scientifically forecast the direction of expansion in the built-up areas by the urban development in the future.
Land suitability assessment(LSA) is a useful method to assess land characteristics according to its physical, locational, and environmental characteristics, and then to classify it into several categories based on its usability and the necessity for conservation. Therefore, the credibility of this assessment result depends on the rationality of assessment method such as computation of suitability values and the criteria of ranking the land grade. This study focused on identifying problems in current LSA method by critically reviewing it, and aimed to suggest a suitable method for the assessment of land suitability. As a alternative method in this study, linear transformation method was used for scoring factors instead of critical values and the weight for each assessment factor. and all values of those factors were added to produce comprehensive suitability values. Those values were ordered and categorizied with suitability level based on the ratio of square measure. After comparing existing LSA method to the suggested alternative method, it is concluded that the alternative method was more suitable to assess the characteristics of lands than existing LSA method. This method was also suitable to represent the characteristics of various assessment factors. Field survey using satellite image clearly revealed the suitability of the alternative method compared to an existing method of land assessment. Furthermore, the alternative method of grading the land suitability improves the problem of using standardiZiation method and gives more flexibility, which makes this method very rational.

This study was conducted to develop a large scale map of species-specific plantation sites based on selected environmental variables such as topography, soil, and climatic factors in Namwon city. Site index equations by tree species were first regressed to 27 environmental variables that could influence the productivity of forest sites using digital forest site maps, digital climate maps, and the 5th National Forest Inventory data. Site index equations by tree species were all evaluated to estimate site productivity using 4-5 environmental variables, and the models' reliability was confirmed based on evaluation statistics. The determination coefficients of site index equations by species ranged from 0.42 to 0.76. With the site index equations, the site conditions appropriate for productive sites by species were considered to assess spatial distribution of productive areas for each species. The final map for optimal plantation in Namwon city was produced based on both site index equations and site conditions appropriate for productive sites by each species using GIS technique. Field survey was conducted to evaluate the suitability of selected species on the map of species-specific plantation sites. Results showed that the plantation map provides relatively reasonable spatial distribution of productive areas for selected species. It was revealed, however, that the sites evaluated as 'not suitable' for any tree species should be revised and complemented with additional information, especially with the site conditions appropriate for productive sites by species of interest. The outcomes of this study are expected to provide information for making customized species-specific plantation maps.
In order to provide basic data for the ecological management of forest vegetation in Southern Naeyeon Mountains, A total of 149 sample plots were selected and vegetation survey was carried out by the phytosociological method of the ZM school to classify vegetation types and to grasp ecological characteristics. The forest vegetation was divided into 10 types in terms of species composition, and had a unit hierarchy of 2 community groups, 4 communities, 6 sub-communities and 6 variants. A total of 19 types of physiognomic vegetation were identified based on uppermost dominant species, of which 18 were natural vegetation and 1 was artificial vegetation. As a result of the analysis of the importance values of constituent species, Quercus mongolica, a potentially natural vegetation element, was found to be relatively more important in most stands than other species, and excluding the artificial interference, most of the areas except for some sites would be changed to Q. mongolica forest. In order to understand the spatial distribution of forest vegetation, 1/5,000 large-scale physiognomic vegetation map was created by the uppermost dominant species. As a result, natural vegetation accounted for 98.2%, the number of vegetation patches was 733 and the average area per patch 3.93ha.
The present study investigated the biological agents and environmental conditions of the habitats of the Kirengeshoma koreana, a class 2 endangered species class according to the South Korean Ministry of Environment (MOE), elucidated the structural characteristics of the forest stands in the habitats with the importance value and the diversity index, conducted comparative analysis of the factors, and explored their relationship with environmental factors. According to the results of direction analysis of natural habitats of the Kirengeshoma koreana, the direction was distributed to the north or the northeast, and the slope amounted to $15-40^{\circ}$, thus demonstrating that the slope has little effect. In addition, the results showed that the distribution of Kirengeshoma koreana populations dramatically increased starting in areas at least 600 m above the sea level and that the relative light intensity was 3.79% on an average. Most populations were native to gorges and crevices between rocks so that they mainly tended to inhabit areas that could see soil loss in times of precipitation. In addition, a considerable number of the populations were close to hiking trails as well, thus leading to concerns about their artificial destruction. The soil of layer a in the main growth space of the Kirengeshoma koreana was analyzed and turned out to be strongly acidic, measuring pH 4.45-4.89 (average: 4.68). All investigation sections were typical natural broad-leaved tree areas, and, judging from the fact that the Kirengeshoma koreana was most likely to appear in colonies of the Mongolian oak tree (Quercus mongolica Fisch. ex Ledeb.), the Mongolian oak tree seems to be the species of tree that has the greatest effect on the inhabitation of the Kirengeshoma koreana.

This study attempts to analyze the effects of distance-accessibility to the complex shopping mall of 'Lotte Mall-Suwon', located at the old central and catchment district of the Suwon station in the Province of Gyeonngi, on the prices of its neighboring apartments within the Gwonseon-gu of Suwon City by using the hierarchical and linear-difference in difference regression method. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, before construction the effects of distance-accessibility show the U-shaped pattern, suggesting that the negative external effects of noise and traffic congestion around the Suwon Station affected the prices of its neighboring apartments within the Gwonseon-gu of Suwon City. Second, the effects of distance-accessibility at different times, such as the construction period and after the opening, are statistically significant only in the latter, indicating the reverse U-shaped pattern unlike before the opening. This means that after the opening of the complex shopping mall its external effects as a leisure and convenience space have a positive effect on the prices of its neighboring apartments within the Gwonseon-gu of Suwon City. Third, the effects of distance-accessibility is at an inflection point around 1.6-1.7 kilometers, which means that the U-shaped distance-decay pattern before construction, while the reverse U-shaped pattern is shown after the opening of opening. The latter implies that apartments that are very close to the mall within the Gwonseon-gu of Suwon City enjoy relatively small positive externalities. Therefore, they are exposed to some negative external effects of noise and traffic congestion, but apartments with some distance apart within the Gwonseon-gu of Suwon City maximize those positive externalities. These results suggest that the effects to distance-accessibility are different from location to location.

Migration usually derived from the gap of spatial efficiency and the attractiveness difference between the origin and the destination puts forth significant impact on the regional dynamics of population. Both migration and regional planning or policy are structurally interconnected, exerting impact each other within the circular loops. In order to observe migration characters in the regional dimension, this research depends on social network analysis(SNA) methods which easily portray interrelationship and its weight between the origin and the destination. In specific, it focuses on the application of centrality indicators in order to understand the in- and out-migration patterns and visualize them with spring graphs, pinpointing the in- and out-migration administrative units. This research deals with three migration patterns in 2001 and 2008, respectively: i) in- and out-migration between the nation and Chungbuk Province; ii) in- and out-migration within Chungcheong Areas; and iii) in- and out-migration within Chungbuk Province. Judging from Chungbuk examples, the highest in-migration was recorded at Heungduck District in terms of in- and out-migration between the nation and Chungbuk Province. Seoul and Gyeonggi were two major origins towards Chungbuk Province. Within Chungcheong Areas, Daejeon produced the highest in-migration in 2001. However, Chungnam took that position in 2008.
The ministry of land, Infrastructure and transport has revised the "National Land Planning and Utilization Act" in 2012. As a result, the regulation of floor area ratio for land covering two or more zoning area has been changed. This study conducted an analysis of the policy effects of changes in the criteria for the application of the floor area ratio by revising the "National Land Planning and Utilization Act". Land covering two or more zoning area means a street side commercial area and street side residential area that is generally understood. This study analyzed the policy effects in Gangnam-gu which has relatively large areas of street side commercial area and street side residential area. The 468 office building transaction cases were analyzed in Gangnam-gu from 2007 to 2017. The result shows that the office building, which has received incentive for policy changes, reported a 19.08% rise in price compared to the one that did not. It means that the economic effects of change of application standard were significant. The existing policy also served as a restriction on land use by landowners, which in turn contributed to the devaluation of the asset's intrinsic value. Therefore, this study may have contributed to the rational use of land and to provide an empirical basis for the change in policy to be assessed for its intrinsic value.

This study is to clarify the market cycle of travelling merchants and the spatial behavior of consumer's commodity purchasing. its reasons and purchasing region of each commodity in Chongsan of Chongsan Myun(village) periodic markets, that is one of the lowest central places in Okchon county. The data used are the results of interviews with 58 travelling merchants on June 22 and July 17, 1994, and questionaire survey taken to parents of students of Chongsan middle school of Chongsan Myun in Okchon county. Study area is typical agricultural regions taking the role of central places to provide rural service and is comparatively important periodic markets. Some of findings are summarized as follows: (1) Until 1980's. appearance of closed periodic markets is caused by the population decrease in rural region, income increase, and rising of living level according to the Five Years Planning of Economic Development, appearance of chain stores of agricultural co-coperative and of supermarkets,. changes in distribution mechanisim by increasing consignment volume of agricultural products through agricultural co-coperative, and the development of transportation in Okchon county. These, too, became the reasons for the decline of the Chongsan periodic markets in Okchon county. (2) Most of the travelling merchants visiting the Chongsan periodic markets are in their 50's of age, and they sell the miscellaneous commodities and agricultural products. And about one-fourths of travelling merchants reside in regions with periodic markets and in Okchon of higher order central places. (3) Travelling routes visting periodic markets can be simplified to five types. Major types of travelling routes are Chongsan periodic market$\rightarrow$Wonnam$\rightarrow$Boun, and Chongsan periodic market$\rightarrow$Yungdong$\rightarrow$Yongsan. The patterns of travelling merchants visiting periodic markets are classified into the type of everyday visiting of periodic markets over three days of five days from merchant's residence to market, and the type of merchants or consumers visiting one day's of five days. On days that travelling merchants don't visit periodic markets they purchase the commodities in Seoul, Taejon and Chongju. (4) Consumers who use periodic markets are from thirties to fifties years of age and most of them are employed in agriculture. Consumers visit periodic markets on foot or by bus, and visit two or three times in a month, and mainly purchase the commodities for one or two hours from about ten o'clock in the morning. (5) Consumers purchase the necessaries of life in periodic markets, and other commodities are purchased in Taejon city, Youngdong, and Boun Eup(town). But consumers purchase the goods(convenience goods, shopping goods, and specialied goods) largerly in Chongsan, because additional expense and disadvantage after service with poor transportation service for purchased goods in others regions. Therefore, the hierarchies of central places by the consumer's purchasing behaviour can not be seem in dewellers in Chongsan and Chongseong Myun.

Erosional basins formed in middle and upper reaches of Korean great rivers have been main life space of local small and middle cities, but previous studies on erosional basins are widely apart from residents' life and are in shortage with the endeavor to elucidate the man and environment relationship. This paper analyzes the factors and the modes of land-use changes of hills in the erosional basin. In this paper four erosional basins with different geological conditions are selected to elucidate the effect of geological factor(Geochang: granite, Chogye: metamorphic rock, Angye: gravelly sedimentary rock, Maseong: limestone). And the distribution of land use on the transverse and longitudinal cross-section map of the hill is described. The landscape of erosional basin is consisted of surrounding mountains, hills, dissected valleys, and incoming river's floodplain. Dissected valleys and incoming river's floodplain were reclaimed early as paddy field and hills have been used as woodland up to recently. Residents have a new appreciation of hills as a productive hill out of a traditional holy space[mountain] by influence of capitalistic thought that 'natural environment is a sort of productive resource'. Population increase is the another pressure of hill reclamation. The modes of landscape changes due to natural conditions are as follow: (1) In Geochang basin with dense tectolineament spacing, the gentle part of hill is used as field, orchard and agricultural-industrial complex site and the steep part is as woodland. (2) Hills in Angye basin with sparse tectolineament spacing are relatively flat because of maintaining a part of original denudational surface, and are used as orchids, field, paddy fields and agricultural-industrial complex site. The dissection valleys between hills are gentle concave and are used as paddy fields. (3) Hills in Maseong basin are wide and flat, and are used as fields, orchards, and agricultural-industrial complex site. (4) Because hills in Chogye basin, a closed type, are weared by affluents and are narrow and short. Hills are used as woodland and wide dissected valleys are reclaimed as paddy fields.
