  • Today, according to population decrease and aging of the old due to the decline of birthrate in our society in $21^{st}$ century, there is a stiff increase of the aged group. Complying with the request of epic needs, as there was a full scale amendment of law of the aged welfare in 1997, the centers appeared differently based on the regional dimension, the difference of the number of persons to be accommodated, and the social and economic characteristics. Coping with these problems occurring, along with the necessity of welfare facilities for the leisure of the aged, the government prepared and carried out a number of plans for the service of the aged and securing of facilities. This practice of the government, however, centered on the crease of service in quantity other than the quality, resulting in a situation of lacking the welfare facilities for the aged meeting the requirement of the aged in their aspect of consumer. On the contrary, building the welfare centers in Japan started in 1960 with a rapid increase of the number of centers in 1970s, and there were 2,214 welfare centers in operation in Japan in 1995, keeping a high level of service in quality and quantity. Thus, this study aims to present basic materials necessary for the criteria of space designing plans for the aged welfare centers in Korea through case analysis of the facility criterion, area constitution and space constitution by the floor that play an important role in regional welfare facilities for the aged in Japan.

  • In keeping with the increasing demand for medical services in accordance with the economic development, the use of oriental medicine is on the rise year by year. In particular, it is a tendency that the elderly over age 65 prefer the oriental medicine to the western medicine in Korea. Under the circumstance, changing into an aging society, the importance of oriental medical services has been growing. In this regard, this study evaluated the quality of medical services by conducting the density analysis and the accessibility analysis of oriental medical clinic targeting Jinju, which is one of local small and medium-sized cities. The study results reveal that oriental medical hospitals accounted for 27% of the entire medical facilities in Jinju, and there was an imbalance in the quality of the oriental medical services according to districts(called dong) because oriental medical hospitals were mainly concentrated in the central commercial areas. In particular, in terms of the analysis on the accessibility of an aging population over age 65 to the oriental medical hospitals, over 50% of the whole districts (dongs) in Jinju were blind spots in medical services, showing a very vulnerable condition. Accordingly, it is judged that systematic measures for improvement in support of the oriental medical services in local small and medium-sized cities should be provided in Korea when we consider the characteristics of Korea where an aging population is rapidly increasing.

  • Although the efficient formation of urban space structure is a key factor in energy saving and environmentally-friendly aspect, the maintenance of the center and sub-center of the city that are key factors has been becoming increasingly difficult due to the variability and complexity of urban activities. In the case of Busan, amid the expansion of urban scale due to rapid economic development and overpopulation, systematic approaches to professional diagnosis and maintenance have been significantly insufficient - other than the city basic plan which has been conducted at an interval of 20 years. For the effective management of urban central area, systematic monitoring of the CBD through demand forecast and blight forecast at a city level must first be implemented. In order to fulfill this goal, this study is to figure out the current state of the CBD through the diagnosis on blight of the urban central area in the viewpoint of rehabilitation of the CBD and to propose the measures for practical utilization of the information about space for the further management of the central area of the city. For analysis, the study looks into the present state in terms of physical index, economic index, and social index. And then as a micro-approach by utilizing economic index, the study has thoroughly examined the economic blight of the Seomyun urban central area of Busan. The outcome of the analysis shows that in terms of population distribution and land utilization the area is in the stage of inefficient dispersion after having gone through the stage of suburbanization. It is expected that this study, as the material that proves the necessity of enhancing the function of the CBD, can propose the direction for the management of the urban center of Busan through blight prediction and management of the urban center and can provide the basic data for the long-term urban development that aims at the efficient strengthening of functions of the CBD.

  • Recently, the gated community has been increasing due to various reasons such as demand for differentiated areas and security, but various problems have been raised, including regional conflicts, traffic restrictions and disconnection of surrounding areas. Therefore, this study empirically considered what kind of spatial effect the gated community has on the surrounding area by analyzing the vitality using floating population big data and analyzing pedestrian accessibility using network analysis and social network analysis. As a result, it was found that the overall vitality in the study area was greatly affected by the land use and the building use. However, focusing on apartment complexes, even in the same land use, when the form of the complex is open to the outside, there is a lot of floating population, so the vitality is high. In terms of accessibility, assuming that the gated community is open, it was found that as the physical connectivity improved, there were more roads for pedestrians to choose from, and the accessibility improved as traffic and exchanges occurred in the disconnected space. The value of improving property rights and residential environment is also precious, but it is necessary to review how to reflect the improvement of local permeability in enhancing the publicness of cities and the value and direction of communities that can coexist with the region.

  • South Korea has entered the age of aging society since the elderly population over 65 reached 13.1% in 2015. This increase rate is the fastest in the OECD members. as a part of the precaution, the Korean government has enforced the long term care insurance from July 2008 and the increase of related nursing homes until 2015 was 220.2% which is rapid and quantitative. It was natural that quantitative expansion leads to qualitative improvement. With regard to service environment conditions, color environment draws attention as one of the most effective measures. color environment supports nursing home's spatial functions and the aged class is subject to the research as the potential customers. This study aims to understand color environment, conduct surveys for color preference and attitude toward color environment, and suggest directions for color environment plan. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of Korean nursing home environment. It studied definition, state, color environment and space functions of nursing homes as well as the preceding researches. With 100 people over 60s in Busan and Gyeongnam area (52 male and 48 female), the survey examined attitudes for color environment and color preference by space functions in nursing home. The research method is as follows. First, as a result of the consciousness survey on color environment in elderly nursing home, it considers service (37%), medical service (20%), and location (19%) heavily in order. color environment plan is not recognized significantly. However, the need of indoor color plan in the elderly nursing homes has "agree (32%) and "strongly agree (25%), which suggests that color introduction is required to the nursing homes. Second, the indoor coloration for the elderly nursing homes has various color preferences. The color preference order for bedroom was R, P, and G but this order changes in nursing space (program room) to G, R, and Y. The communal space such as lobby prefers R, G and Y in order. R color was preferred in general.

  • Due to population growth and urban development in construction technology has expanded living space, underground construction as public transport as has been extended to the ground and underground urban traffic congestion increases. This underpass Stations sphere of influence this development was the center of the living space, space-time became a cultural space. However underpass ground space and time and space are enormous difficulties in contrast visibility due to smoke when light levels are low fire occurs, momentary loss of judgment errors due to a sense of orientation, rapid diffusion and ambient oxygen deficiency due to acquisition limitations, such as the Open resulting in property damage and personal injury. The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing system with respect to the address of the underground shopping center and system for presenting an address to the underground shopping mall in the basement of the straight and circular in connection with the street name address. Also can be known only to evacuate their citizens to address the position in the event of a fire inside the basement through the underground shopping mall address standardization system, the fire department only address exact location is being judged will be identified.

  • Large pressure on the growing population has increased rapid change in the LULC (land use/land cover) patterns in the watershed area. Spatial distribution of LULC information and its changes are desirable for any effective planning, managing and monitoring activities. The aim of the study is to produce the 1,50,000 scaled LULC change map for the sub-watershed, Western Moyar, India using the multi-temporal satellite image dataset of IRS LISS III images for the year 1989, 1999, and 2002. About 9 classes are extracted using onscreen visual interpretation techniques for all the three years. The change detection analysis was performed using matrix method for period I (1989-1999) and period II (1999-2002). The study reveals that the changes noticed in period II (1999-2002) is comparatively more than period I (1989-1999), which is dynamic information to protect the sub-watershed area from the deterioration and paves the way to for the sustainable development.
