A Study on the Neutral Point Potential Variation under Open-Circuit Fault of Three-Level NPC Inverter (3레벨 NPC 인버터 개방성 고장 시 중성점 전압변동에 관한 연구)

  • Three-level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter, generally known as Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) Inverter, has an inherent problem causing Neutral Point (NP) potential variation. Until now, in many literatures NP potential problem has been investigated and lots of solutions have also been proposed. However, under fault and fault tolerant control, distinctive feature for NP potential variation problem was rarely published from the standpoint of reliability. In this paper, NP potential is analytically investigated both normal and faulty conditions under carrier based PWM. Subsequently, relation between fault detection time and size of capacitor is analyzed. This information is explored by simulation and experiment results, which contribute to enhance the reliability of inverter system.

  • Induction motors are a critical component of many industrial processes and are frequently integrated in commercially available equipment. Safety, reliability, efficiency, and performance are some of the major concerns of induction motor applications. Fault tolerant control (FTC) strives to make the system stable and retain acceptable performance under the system faults. All present FTC method can be classified into two groups. The first group is based on fault detection and diagnostics (FDD). The second group is includes of FDD and includes methods such as integrity control, reliable stabilization and simultaneous stabilization. This paper presents the fundamental FDD-based FTC methods, which are capable of on-line detection and diagnose of the induction motors. Therefore, our group has developed the embedded distributed fault tolerant and fault diagnosis system for industrial motor. This paper presents its architecture. These mechanisms are based on two 32-bit DSPs and each TMS320F2407 DSP module processes the stator current, voltage, temperatures, vibration signal of the motor.

  • This paper outlines the basic concepts, approaches and research trends of fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control applied to industrial processes, facilities, and motor drives. The main role of fault diagnosis for industrial processes is to create effective indicators to determine the defect status of the process and then take appropriate measures against failures or hazadous accidents. The technologies of fault detection and diagnosis have been developed to determine whether a process has a trend or pattern, or whether a particular process variable is functioning normally. Firstly, data-driven based and model-based techniques were described. Secondly, fault detection and diagnosis techniques for industrial processes are described. Thirdly, passive and active fault tolerant control techniques are considered. Finally, major faults occurring in AC motor drives were listed, described their characteristics and fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control techniques are outlined for this purpose.

  • In this paper, I studied the "Establishment of Fault Tolerant System" as well as the sensor and cylinder that are general components being used in automation equipments. I design a system that when the sensor breaks down on free flow conveyor, it will be converted to virtual sensor system mode by simulation, also I design IPC(Internal Pressure Cylinder), a basis of various applicable fault tolerant system by analyzing the changing of analog data according to the load of operation. With IPC and the increasing ability of developer, the Fault Tolerant System will be widely applied in the increasment of service time of cylinder, grease pouring time expection, fault recognition of cylinder and etc.

  • 최근 계통연계형 인버터 시스템에서 고 신뢰 운전이 매우 중요한 과제로 대두되고 있다. 특히 인버터의 고장에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 계통연계형 인버터에서 직류단 전압 센서의 고장 허용 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 직류단 전압의 추정값으로 고장의 발생 시에 허용 제어를 수행한다. 매우 빠른 동특성을 가진 제어기가 요구되는 제안된 알고리즘의 적용을 위해 데드비트 전류제어기를 사용한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 알고리즘을 검증한다.

  • In this research, wish to suggest method to embody system that can accommodate defect of PLC and find actual propriety. Defect permission control system minimizes production damage because enables repair and checking without discontinuance and improve believability about whole system. Propose duplexing of system to embody this fault tolerant system. Therefore, composed control system that can permit defect or breakdown duplexings of various module proposing this system, and confirms to simulation and actuality kiln of defect permission control system through an application experiment, and compares for mean time between defect by estimate and defect special quality and system configuration of failure(failure) to improve believability of PLC control system together. In proposed system expression method and system mode and relation with operation mode, error discovery mode and switching tube of duplexing mode, and PLC's central processing unit of node study algorithm about master-standby conversion driving and continuous operation of 2 channels method that have 2 that is not one and deduced continuous operation method and result about defect permission in this algorithm and applies this result to actuality kiln control system and confirms continuous operation about PLC defect permission.

  • This paper presents a new fault detection scheme for voltage fed inverter to improve the reliability of power electronic system, which is of paramount importance in the wide industrial applications. The proposed method is achieved by using voltage across lower switches in each phase under the switch fault condition. The reconfiguration method is achieved by the four-switch topology connecting a faulty leg to the middle point of DC-link using bidirectional switches. The proposed method has a simple algorithm and fast fault detection time. Therefore, normal operation of the system after faults is continuously achieved by reconfiguration of system topology. The superior performance of the proposed fault detection and tolerance method are proved by simulation.

  • The Message-Passing Interface(MPI) is a standard interface for parallel programming environment, based on that application programs run on the processors of a parallel computer. Processor nodes execute processes consisting the program by passing messages to one another. During executing, however, if a fault occurs on a processor node or a process, this will result an inconsistent state, and consequently, the whole program will have to be stopped. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant message passing interface(FT-MPI) by adding a fault manager module to MPI. The proposed FT-MPI does not need any hardware support, and each application program based on MPI can run on the FT-MPI without any modification. The proposed fault tolerance scheme uses the so-called hot-spare process duplication method, and verified by simulations that application programs run despite of any fault with less than 5% overhead on execution time.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량용 전자제어식 주차 브레이크(Electric Parking Brake, EPB) 시스템의 고장 허용 제어(fault tolerant control)를 위한 고장 안전 기법(fail-safe logic)을 제안한다. 고장 안전 기법의 구현을 위하여 EPB 구동 모터에 흐르는 전류 리플을 측정하여 센서리스 위치 추정을 한다. 추정값과 홀 센서의 출력을 비교하여 잔차(residual)를 발생하고, 이를 이용하여 시스템 내부의 고장을 진단하고 고장 안전 기법을 통하여 전체 시스템의 오작동을 방지한다. 시스템 오작동을 방지하기 위한 고장 안전 기법에 대하여 정의하고 모의실험을 통하여 내부 시스템의 고장이 발생 시 이 기법이 고장을 진단하고 시스템을 안전하게 운영할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
