The Effect of Teaching Behavior Styles of Fisheries & Maritime High School Teacher on Students' Satisfaction in Major Subject Classes (수산·해운계열 고등학교 교사의 교수행동유형이 학생의 전공교과 수업만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze how teaching behavior styles of fisheries & maritime high school teacher on students' satisfaction in major subject classes. A survey was conducted for high school students from fisheries & maritime high school. The results were as followed. First, there is a statistically significant correlation between fisheries & maritime high school teacher's teaching behavior styles and student's classes satisfaction. In other words, teaching behavior styles should be different according to the individual differences of students' learning. Second, fisheries & maritime high school teacher's teaching behavior styles has some significant influence on student's classes satisfaction. Diversity Teaching behaviors had a statistically significant effect on content satisfaction. Interaction teaching behavior, diversity teaching behavior style, and individualized teaching behavior style had a statistically significant effect on method satisfaction. For the evaluation satisfaction, there was a significant statistically significant effect of clarity on teaching behavior styles and diversity teaching behavior type. It is necessary to improve the content satisfaction of the students through the application of the teaching method considering the difference of understanding of the contents of each student.

  • 현지해안의 해빈변형을 연구하기 위해 해운대 해수욕장에서 파랑과 해빈류를 관측하였으며, 또한 파랑과 흐름의 간섭효과를 고려한 파랑변형 및 해빈류를 수치계산하여 관측결과와 비교하였다. 지형변동은 경험적 고유함수법에 의해 해석했다. 해운대 해수욕장의 해빈변형을 해빈류의 유황과 지형변동의 해석결과에 의해 분석하였다. 남서풍이 탁월할 때는 종단방향의 표사이동에 의해 침식이 일어났으며, 이 때의 표사이동 양상은 입사각이 180。일 때의 해빈류의 유황과 거의 일치하였다. 북동풍이 탁월할 때는 연안방향의 표사이동에 의해 침식이 일어났으며, 이 때의 표사이동 양상은 입사각이 160。일 때의 해빈류의 유황과 거의 일치하였다. 즉, 현지의 해빈변형은 입사파의 특성과 파랑에 의해 일어나는 해빈류에 의해 크게 좌우되는 것으로 나타났다.

Audit by Big4 Accounting Firms and Earnings Management of Shipping Companies (Big4 회계법인의 감사와 해운사의 이익조정)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether Big 4 accounting firms contribute to the reduction of earnings management when auditing shipping companies. Generally, it is understood that companies audited by the Big 4 accounting firms engage in minimal earnings management and maintain high audit quality. However, these factors may vary depending on industry and firm size. As a result, this study empirically analyzes the impact of audits conducted by large accounting firms on earnings management within the shipping industry. The Big 4 accounting firms, namely PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, and EY, are the focus of this research. Discretionary accruals are employed as a proxy for earnings management, with the modified J ones model and the performance matched model used to measure discretionary accruals. The analysis, which covers shipping companies listed on KOSP I from 2001 to 2023, reveals that audits conducted by the Big 4 accounting firms do not significantly influence earnings management in the shipping industry. Unlike the general case, it is evident that audits by the Big 4 accounting firms do not play a role in reducing earnings management in shipping companies. This paper is significant as it examines the role of auditors within the shipping industry and presents findings that deviate from commonly known information. Shipping companies should take into consideration that the audit quality of the Big 4 accounting firms may not always be guaranteed when selecting an auditor. Furthermore, supervisory authorities such as the Financial Supervisory Service should engage in oversight based on an accurate understanding of the audit quality offered by the Big 4 accounting firms.

  • In shipping logistics, despite the fact that it has promoted the information processing process, the use of the document exchange mechanism has caused a problem of increasing the cost and lead time. In recent years, various types of projects are in progress in preparation for full-scale introduction of a blockchain technology capable of solving the document exchange mechanism in the shipping industry, In near future, by expanding the practical application scope, it is aiming to increase competitiveness through transparency, reliability, stability, and efficiency, which are the effects of application of the block chain technology.

The Effect of BDI on the Network Connectedness of Shipping Companies: Focusing on CoVaR Network Connectedness (BDI가 해운선사 네트워크 연계성에 미치는 영향: CoVaR 네트워크 연계성을 중심으로)

  • Based on daily data from January 4, 2016 to September 27, 2022, the impact of extreme movements of BDI on shipping companies' network connectivity was analyzed using CoVaR network connectivity. The main results and policy implications are as follows. First, according to the copula model results, the Student-t copula was selected as the most suitable model for COSCO, HMM, HRAG, MAERSK, and WAN. EVER was selected as a time-varying Gumbel copula, and YANG was selected as a time-varying rotated-Gumbel copula. Second, as a result of analysis using the TVP-VAR model, the linkage between shipping companies tended to increase when the BDI turned into an extreme risk state. In the comparison of net connectivity, the roles of COSCO and EVER changed. In addition, in the analysis of net pairwise connectivity, it was found that the change in the extreme risk state of BDI also affected the connectivity of shipping companies. In particular, EVER, WAN, and COSCO showed large changes. Taken together, the extreme fluctuations in BDI changed the role of Asian shipping companies, intensifying competition among shipping companies and strengthening risk delivery. It was confirmed that BDI has a great influence on the network connectivity of shipping companies and has an important influence on the stability of the stock market network. Therefore, the results of this study should consider not only the connectivity of shipping companies according to market conditions, but also the connectivity in extreme situations.

  • The competition between ship management companies is fierce as a result of global trend towards increased specialization. In order for ship management companies to remain competitive, it is necessary to understand the local and global factors and the changing circumstances that impact shipping markets and trade patterns. To better understand these factors, a study and analysis of drawing priority of the competitiveness-evaluation factors of ship management companies was conducted using Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) as a method dealing with dicision-making problem. As a consequence of this analysis, it was determined that human resources, both shipboard and land management, were a primary factor in ship management company's competitiveness. Thus, the acquisition and retention of capable staff was a key aspect of assuring a ship management company's competitiveness.

  • Transportation decisions of ship liners are crucial for policy formulation in ports and shipping lines. Ship liners' port selection depends on the location characteristic of port. With network theory based, we empirically investigated determinants of global ship liners' port selection focused on major trade ports in China and Korea during 1995-2007. We present a detailed discussion on the related literatures about port selection, and develop hypothesis using network-based view. With conditional logit model, empirical results show that global liners select globally positioned ports rather than domestic oriented ones. Global ship liners select ports which have intra national network centrality, global ship network centrality and global network linkage.
