A Study on the Meaning and Prospect of the Certificate of Qualification in Private Security in Korea - Concerning the Enforcement of 2006' Examination - (민간자격증의 의의와 전망 -2006년 시험시행과 관련하여-)

  • This study is concerned Meaning of the certificate of qualification and Prospect of the certificate of qualification in private security in korea. Now, private security area is need the certificate of qualification, and the first examination in 2006' in Korea has meaning that open the period of the certificate of qualification. The 40 university(include colleges) applied the first examination. This exam is enforced 11. 25. 2006. in six part area in Korea. The 822 students are applied and 763 students(the ratio of successful applicants 92.8%) passed this exam. This apply exam is meaning the start of new development and specialization in private security area. I hope that this exam is a opportunity of cooperation between industry and the academic world. Also, this exam is a opportunity of student in private security are more hard training before take a job. As my understanding this exam is the confirmation by an authority, this exam is only neutral evidence to get the confidence and credit from the clients.

  • This study is to examine relations between the number of occurrence of big five critical crimes that consist of homicide, robbery, rape, theft, violence and the number of the security companies and the security guards, and between the number of the security companies, the security guards and the number of arrests from the big five critical crimes. To achieve this objective, this research selects a subject of study, the number of the security companies and security guards, and the number of occurrences of the big five critical crimes and arrests of the big five crimes from 1990 to 2005. The selected data are then analyzed according to the variables using SPSS 12.0. Each hypothesis is verified with the level of significance ${\alpha}$=.05 using the statistical techniques such as Correlation Analysis, Regression Analysis, etc. The following is the result of the study: First, the number of occurrences of the big five critical crimes affects the number of the security companies at a significant level. Second, the number of the security companies affects the number of arrests of the big five crime at a significant level.

A Study on the Factor on Influencing the Job Resourcefulness of the Private Security Guards (민간경비원의 직무자원동원성 형성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study is made for the purpose of analyzing the influencing factors evidently to the private security guards' job resourcefulness. Consequently this study will offer effective ways to develop the private security guards job resourcefulness. Throughout the previous study of job resourcefulness, we selected the influencing factors to the job resourcefulness, as follows : system of reward, staff development opportunity, participation in decision making, self-control and other-control for locus of control, need for achievement, self-esteem. To prove this subject, we distributed the questionnaire to the private security guards of Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi. So we used 248 answers sheets for the final analysis. As the result above study, system of reward, participation in decision making, self-control and other-control for locus of control, need for achievement, self-esteem influenced the job resourcefulness positively. Accordingly it is essential that various educational programs and objective evaluations are designed to improve the organizational and individual characteristics of private security guards. However the staff development opportunity don't have an influence on the job resourcefulness. On the basis of above study result, this study suggested some necessary ideas on managing and administrating the organization of private security effectively in the future.

  • This study was to analyze structural equation modeling of organizational culture, human resource management and organization performance in the private security corporation. To attain the goal of the study described above paragraphs, the employee of private security corporation located in Seoul, 2006 year were set as a collected group. Then, using the cluster random sampling method, finally drew out 300 peoples and analyzed 250 peoples in total. The material collection device was the brochure named . The validity of instrument was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) The result of reliability check up was here below; Chronbach' ${\alpha}=.724$. To analyze materials, correlation analysis, CFA, SEM were used as statistic analysis techniques. The conclusion based on above study method and the result of material analysis are follows; First, organizational culture influences on the human resource management. Second, organizational culture influences on the organizational performance. Third, human resource management influences on the organizational performance. Particularly, organizational culture influences indirectly on organizational performance throughout human resource management. Human resource management is very important variable mediating organizational culture and performance.

  • School violence is now considered not only as a problem for a victim and a offender themselves, but also as a social problem that requires responsibilities of school, home, society, and even nation. Crimes and risk factors are various inside and outside of school. In terms of solving those problems, this study examines the actual condition of school violence among students. In addition, it is considered what efforts are conducted by police to establish a safe school environment and the problems that derive from it. Futhermore, this study aims to discuss the ways of using the private security with regard to dealing with school violence. In this society, the expectation of security service from the police is increased as time passed. However, police has limited resources, thus it is beyond their practice. Policing has changed from being monopolized by government to cooperating with various security agents. Community is not considered as the subject for enforcing the law anymore, but as the cooperator for effective policing. With regard to the limitation of police force, using the private security is an effective alternative. Therefore, it is required that private security should be assigned legal authority and shared information with schools in order to patrol the blind spot. Finally, school violence prevention efforts should be conducted by applying physical and electronic security.

  • Based on the status of which the research is not active and the analysis is not progressed, the purpose of this study life up pride, value and professional ethic of private security guard. Also, through this research, it offers the effect on professional ethic, organizational trust and job satisfaction. The data collection and survey are taken by the private security business members who work staff member or manager. They are surveyed with convenience sampling that among 500 data, 46 data which are thought to be answered insincerely or lack are excluded, so the total of 454 answered data are included in the final analysis. After coding and input process, the data is analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using window SPSS 19.0 version. Significance level is 0.05. The conclusion that has been made based on the statistical analysis results are the followings. Professional ethic has a positive impact on organizational trust, job satisfaction. The educational training of the company is connected job satisfaction resultantly. Also the professional ethics education will improve the ability of the individual. Finally, the professional ethics raises a job satisfaction. Also, Organizational trust has a positive impact on job satisfaction. This the while to agree with a research result about the other type of business worker who is researched. In order raising the job satisfaction, the effort for raising a organizational trust is necessary.

  • Lately, with the increase of the private security industry, individual quality improvement of the private security guards is rising. Especially, in accordance with competence of the private security guards, in the base of individual technical or knowledge, the confidence of own ability is essential for the improvement of the private security industry. In accordance with the private security guards, the study of their competence is rare. But through the study of teenagers or members of the public organization, we can know the influence of variables competence. The purpose of this study is to show how the self-esteem, need for Achievement, relation with co-worker and supervisor, and leadership effect on competence. Consequently this study will offer effective ways to develop the private security guards competence. We can show that self-esteem effects competence of the private security guards between the need for achievement and self-esteem which are adjusted as the individual characteristic. Namely, the higher the self-esteem of the private security guards is, the higher competence is. The study shows that the relation with co-worker and supervisor of the private security guards doesn't effect competence. Unlike the previous studies, this study proves that contingent reward has a positive effect on the Private Security Guards competence in the transactional leadership. That is, the higher the contingent reward of leader is, the higher the level of competence of the Private Security Guards is. Lastly, We can know individualized consideration effect the competence of the private security guards in the transformational leadership.

Relationship between Organizational Culture, Organizational Trust and Organizational Performance of Special Guard Organization (특수경비조직의 조직문화와 조직신뢰 및 조직성과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational culture, organizational trust and organizational performance of special guard organization. This study had selected special guards from 4 different private guard companies which are in Seoul area on March 2011. Using Judgement Sampling, 161 samples were drawn for the use of final analysis. Questionnaire used in this study was consisted of the total 42 question, and executed frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, path analysis by SPSSWIN 18.0. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value which represents the reliability of the survey came out to be over .592. The results are following: First, the organizational culture of special guard organization affects organizational trust. That is, when a developmental, reasonable, consensual and hierarchical culture is activated, cognitive emotional and behavioral trust is increased. Second, organizational culture of special guard organization affects organizational performance. That is, when a reasonable and consensual culture is activated, job-satisfaction becomes higher. On the other hand, when a developmental, reasonable and hierarchical culture is activated, organizational flow becomes higher. Third, organizational trust of special guard organization affects organizational performance. That is, when a cognitive emotional and behavioral trust works highly, job-satisfaction and organizational flow is increased. Fourth, Special security organization's organizational culture affects as a result in organization result. As well as organizational culture exerts direct influence on organization outcome, I exert effect that is indirect in organization outcome through action trust which is low rank factor of organization trust.

Impact of Psychological Empowerment on Service Orientation and Organizational Performance in Private Security Guards (시큐리티 요원의 심리적 임파워먼트가 서비스지향성 및 조직성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the psychological empowerment of security guards to their service orientation and organizational performance. The subjects in this study were 300 security guards who were selected by purposive sampling from the population that consisted of the workers in private security agencies located in the cities of Chungan and Ahsan in 2011. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 271 respondents were analyzed. The statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0 was employed to make a factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis. The findings of the study were as follows: First, psychological empowerment affected service orientation. Better meaning and better self-determination led to better service human resources management, better service leadership and better service encounter management. Second, psychological empowerment exerted an influence on organizational performance. Stronger impact and better meaning led to stronger organizational commitment, higher job satisfaction and better performance. Third, service orientation had an impact on organizational performance. Better service human resources management, better service leadership and better service encounter management were followed by stronger organizational commitment, better job satisfaction and higher performance. Fourth, psychological empowerment exercised a firsthand and secondhand influence on service orientation and organizational performance. Given the findings of the study, managers of security agencies should keep in mind the unique working environments of employees, and they should empower employees to show what they can do in consideration of their changing working environments and let them assume the responsibility for their own job performance. That will encourage them to provide better service for customers, which will serve, in turn, to bolster the organizational performance.

  • This study is concerned on how much effect to activate private security officers from the attitude of CEO in private security companies. Of course the philosophy of CEO at the work is much important element on the company activity. And in small-medium size private security company the effect of CEO is tremendous because most of decision making comes from CEO and company is operated. The result of the analysis of the survey on the CEO in private security business is as belows. a) Most of them are not satisfied and negative from current situation of private security industry because too many companies are scattered and the expected social understanding is too low even though the company was established by their own decision due to it was fit to their aptitude. b) The job position is estimated not high by socio-economical perspective, which would be improved to get higher because this industry is very future business. c) Most of members of the korea security association are in negative on the policy of the korea security association but to enhance of the activity all the members should be in union. d) Must make and settle down a channel to communicate and cooperate each other between public and private sector of security business.
