Analysis of Economic Indicators and Depression using Panel Data: based on data from 2018 to 2022 (패널 데이터를 활용한 경제적 지표와 우울증 분석: 2018년부터 2022년 데이터를 기반으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the impact of economic indicators (economic growth rate, employment rate, inflation) on individuals' mental health, particularly the occurrence of depression, and to clarify the correlation between economic stability and mental health. Data on economic indicators and depression were collected from public data portals and national statistics, and then refined and analyzed using Python and Pandas. Data visualization was performed using Seaborn and Matplotlib. The results showed a strong correlation between economic instability and increased depression rates, with a tendency for the number of depression cases to rise during periods of inflation and declines in economic growth. Additionally, certain age groups and genders exhibited higher depression rates, with social isolation and economic difficulties identified as major contributing factors. This study contributes to mental health policy development, and further research considering various social factors is needed.

  • 국민 소득수준의 향상은 복지사회를 이룩하기 위한 기본요건이지만 상대적으로 경제개발 및 근대화 과정에서 야기되는 사회문제나 건강생활에 저해되는 요인의 발생방지 대책이 결여된다면 이는 결코 이상적인 발전일 수 없을 것이다. 사회보장제도에서의 가장 중요한 기능이 물론 경제적 조건의 개선이지만 건강조건의 개선 역시 이에 못지 않게 중요한 기능의 하나인 것이다.

Key Factors in the Growth of Security Market and the future of Korean Security Industry (시큐리티 산업의 성장요인과 국내 시장전망)

  • World security market has continuously been growing since the 2000s. The growth rate seems to reach up to 7-8% annually. What is more, Korea is expected to be one of the most rapidly developing markets, Based of this view, this research investigates the principal drivers to have affected on the expansion of Korean security market over the past 20 years. In addition to that, this study also examines the influence of recent changes in the world economy and globalization, socio-demographic change, development of information technology on the future security market. The data reviewed in this study are official crime rates, socio-economic indicators, statistics from the National Police Agency and the business reports of a leading private security company. This study shows that several factors such as rising crime rates, lack of police capacities, national economic growth and rising household income have played important roles in development of Korean market. It is also expected to keep those positive affects on the future market. On the other side, in recent years, the security market seems to be increasingly affected by new social economic changes. Those are impact of last aging society, rapid increase of individual household and women's participation in labor market. These factors seem to increase personal and household needs for security service. World economy, globalization process and development of information technology are also deemed to give rise to social demands for surveillance, monitoring service and security in cyber space.

  • This study analyzed the influencing factors for urban redevelopment projects with a relatively long project duration in the context of Seoul's increasing urbanization rate and aging. Among the business areas that have been designated since 2005 and have been approved for the management and disposal plan of the entire Seoul area, 75 business areas have been set as targets. A hedonic price model was used to analyze the project area, economic, and locational characteristics as independent variables with the project duration from designation of zones to approval of management and disposal plans as dependent variables. As a result of the analysis, the smaller the project area, the larger the area occupied per union member, the larger the land price change rate, and the smaller the KOSPI index, the shorter the required period. This study has the distinction of empirically analyzing the effect of characteristic variables considering size and economic and locational characteristics on period. It provides implications that the area of the business area, the number of union members, and economic conditions should be considered when establishing a business area.

Economic Value of Mountainous Urban Park Based on Contingent Valuation Methods - Case of Gyeyangsan in Incheon - (가상가치평가법을 이용한 산지형 공원의 경제적 가치 평가 - 인천광역시 계양산을 중심으로 -)

  • COVID-19 led to an increased need for mountainous urban parks in the city that can be enjoyed while moving rather than staying put. However, studies on the economic value of mountainous urban parks have been insufficient. As a result, this study investigates the economic value of Gyeyangsan, a mountainous urban park located in the city, by quantifying the value of natural resources provided to residents and analyzing the factors affecting these values. The results are summarized below. First, according to the economic value assessment of Gyeyangsan, the use value was 2,210 won per person or 4.42 billion won per year, and the preservation value was 6,182 won per household, or 129.37 billion won. Gyeyangsan's total assets value was assessed as 3.68 trillion won. Second, according to the estimates of the willingness to pay and the determinants for the use-value, the frequency of visits, age, and use satisfaction significantly impacted the intention to pay for the use-value. Third, according to the estimates of the willingness to pay and the determinants for the preservation value, the intention to revisit, volunteer participation, educational level, gender, and residence significantly influenced the intention to pay for the preservation value. According to the findings of this study, it will be possible to make crucial policy implications when setting a direction for future park management by presenting a practical policy plan for the maintenance of mountain parks in downtown areas and will broaden the scope of research.
