The purpose of this study is to analyze the guidelines and content of visual landscape planning according to the Landscape Law and to suggest improvements for it. The landscape planning guidelines were analyzed and landscape planning reports were reviewed and compared. To analyze the landscape planning guidelines, we conducted an expert survey and derived the results through statistical methods, such as t-test and importance-performance analysis(IPA). Both landscape planning reports were selected from among metropolitan cities, medium-sized cities, and counties. We analyzed and compared the reports with the landscape planning guidelines. The results of this study are as follows. The stage of visual landscape resource survey progressed systematically, but it was not practical for actual planning because of the excessively detailed guidelines. On the other hand, a greater variety of methods and techniques should be suggested for the landscape structure analysis. At the schematic planning stage, establishing contents suitable for the local government's identity and related plans is necessary. In addition, more detailed guidelines should be included in the landscape planning guidelines. At the master planning stage, the planning qualities and contents differed from cities and counties, so more substantial and detailed guidelines are necessary for the scope and contents. We suggested that some additional items be included such as the synthesis of landscape resource surveys and the viewpoint plan.

The purpose of this study is to reflect on the results of the assessment and analysis of landscape planning projects according to planning phases in a landscape planning system based on landscape law. An assessment of the importance and performance of landscape planning elements by planning phases was studied by statistically descriptive analysis, variation analysis, statistical t-test and importance-performance analysis. As a result of the evaluation, the performance of existing landscape planning projects is 3.813 and the importance of planning elements is 5.648. This means that in spite of the importance of landscape planning elements, the performance of existing landscape planning projects is not sufficient to cover the importance of landscape planning elements. In addition, 'site landscape survey' and 'landscape design guideline' sections are not sufficient when they are compared to 'landscape concept plan' and 'landscape basic plan' to complete the landscape planning projects required by landscape law. It means also that the landscape survey and landscape design guidelines should be complementarily practiced in order to increase the effectiveness of landscape planning projects. As the research is practiced by survey methods on landscape planning projects which are only new development sites, the results cannot represent all types of landscape planning projects. Nevertheless, the results can be applied to new landscape planning at new development sites or old cities to increase effectiveness.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the sustainable development of the landscape management system for the historic city of China, and to find out the implications to historic city in our country. Firstly, this study introduces the karrimor of historic city in China and the evolution of historic landscape management policy, and then analyses the main content of the historic landscape management system with Beijing, for example: "the protection planning of historic city", "the protection and construction planning of historic city in twelfth five-year plan", "the comprehensive planning of Beijing", and lastly suggests the way of sustainable development for historic landscape management of Beijing. In Beijing, three are three different levels of landscape management system, cultural properties(individual), historic districts(area), and historic city(as a whole) on the basis of the landscape management for historic city. The sustainable development of the historic landscape management system in Beijing gives meaningful implications to historic cities in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the visions of visual landscape planning and to suggest improvements for it. This study overviews currents methods of making the vision of visual landscape planning by group interview with hands-on workers. Thirty-two cases of visual landscape planning are reviewed to analyze the forms and contents of vision of visual landscape planning. The purpose of urban vision and city slogans are fairly similar to the vision of visual landscape planning; therefore, this study reviews and compares them. According to this study, we conducted writing direction and policy implications. The results of this study are as follows. The vision of visual landscape planning is written by consulting the landscape resources survey and visions of upper plans. These writing methods are able to enhance the consistency of each chapter in visual landscape planning, and the consistency between visual landscape planning and upper plans. Thus, it is desirable to revise landscape planning guidelines with this method. The current vision of visual landscape planning is written in the form of a city slogan. But the vision of visual landscape planning is not a means of publicity and transformational use. So, the form of the vision needs to be revised. This study analyzed the correlation among the vision of visual landscape planning, urban vision, and city slogan. There is a closer correspondence between the vision of visual landscape planning and urban vision than city slogan. This result means that it is beneficial to write the vision of visual landscape planning in consideration of the upper plan. Henceforward, for maintaining and enhancing consistency detailed contents in landscape planning guidelines are needed.

This Study is about the "Comprehensive Landscape Improvement Plan for Gu-ryoung Seaside Village that was one of most exhibited projects for developing sea villages." The formulations of the plan were supervised by the Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs and were executed by the Goheung Country. Rather than proposing renovations for the landscape, this study maintains the existing order and attempts to examine the plan by scrutinizing the vernacular design language of the landscape. In the study, community members had the opportunity to express their opinions and ideas about the community through workshops composed of community participation programs, and participated in the decision-making process through consultation meetings. The conclusion of this study was relevant to the activities of the committee on landscape improvement. The Comprehensive Landscape Improvement Plan has three objectives: (1) resorting and modifying the natural landscape, (2) restructuring the roadways, and (3) modifying key spaces. In the end, the role of Gu-ryong Mountain as a background of the landscape was focused on tree planting drives that were undertaken, and accessibility to the sea front was improved. Second, in restructuring the roadways, rough roads were restored and unconnected roads were connected to ensure a network of roads along the sea front, inner roads in the village, roads at the Fringes Mountains, and stone roads on the mud flat. In addition, roads were named according to the character of the landscape and signs were installed. Finally, the existing key spaces, in which community members came together, were restored and new key spaces were created for the outdoor activities of the inhabitants and the diverse experience of visitors. A guideline was also created to regulate private areas such as roofs, walls, fences of residential buildings, and private container boxes and fishing gear along the sea front. The strength of this study is that it is seeking to determine the greatest potential of the landscape and set the plan by examining the lives of community members. Some problems were found during the development of this study. Further, there were problems in the community's understanding as elaborated below. First is the gap between community members' awareness and practice. Even though they were aware of the problems with the village landscape, they hesitated to implement improvements. Second, community members have misunderstandings about the landscape the improvement plan. The local government and the residents have understood this plan as a development project; for example, new building construction or the extension of roads. Third, residents are not aware that continuous attention and improvements are required for the upkeep of the landscape in the sea village. The plan to improve the landscape should promote a balance between making the area as a tourist attraction and maintaining the lives and cultural activities, because the sea village system incorporates settlements, economy, and culture.
This study was performed based on "Basic plan of landscape forming project in Jujeon village" which was performed during January ~ August 2011 as a target of "Pilot project of landscape forming in coast village" held by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. The project target, Jujeon village, Dong-gu, Ulsan metropolitan city has unique scenery and cultural and historic features. However, its distinct landscape is getting fallen due to insufficient management and development done without considering local feature. Therefore, we need to plan to increase the distinctive place value of coast village, and the landscape color plan is an essential element upon ma king entire harmony of village unit. This study, therefore, aims to suggest authentic landscape color plan and improvement plan of Jujeon village through local color research, local history, geographical feature, and resident sense research of Jujeon village. Especially, for independent landscape color plan for a small village, this study is significant to develop authentic color plan of Jujeon village based on storytelling and to provide possibility in landscape color plan through storytelling in the future.

In this study, sample area was selected to compare the conventional method with photogrammetic method in basic planning of country club. Also various elements of planning, such as vegetation and water system, were considered through interpretation of aerial photographs and topographic maps, vegetation maps and water system maps were made as well as digital terrain models. These were used to analyse tophographic changes and landscape. As a result of comparing with the conventional method, it was shown that photographic interpretation could give more detail values than the conventional method, and that the digital terrain model could predict changes of topography, landscape and water system with more asccuracy. Consequently, the method of digital terrain model and photographic interpretation proved to be more effective than the conventional method in the case of water treatment, and planning of landscape and land utility.

The aim of this research is to set a systemic Ecological Landscape Planning Model to cope with the destroyed landscape problems which was caused by massive development project and thoughtless development in country areas. The summary of research result are as follows. As a result of analysis on domestic and international literature, there are 60 planning index items which are nature conservation area, landscape conservation area, and build and manage wetland biotope and so on. total number of planning index is 34 after finalizing the physical index items. As a result of on-spot research, all 34 planning index after literature analysis is existing. Also, there are 38 finally-selected index which includes 4 added planning index in the process of research like natural vegetation in frequently-used spot. As a result of importance analysis on detailed planning index, most are above 5 points, which is relatively high. As a result of factor analysis on patterning for the detailed planning index, it was classified with seven elements. The first Ecological Landscape Planning model was set with integrated analysis on result of pattering for the detailed planning index and importance of detailed planning index. Based on first model, to make more systematic landscape, the analysis of MCB was conducted. As a result of MCB analysis according to planning index, it is confirmed that each planning index shows maximum. As a result of importance analysis on the 9 plans keynote, the average importance point was 4.62 for conservation area and 4.54 for enrichment area respectively. By integrating the result of importance analysis on basic aims of the first model, MCB analysis and plans, we set the second Ecological Landscape Planning model. In vertical transition, for example, 'conservation area' showed the importance point above 5.2 for all planning index except setting recreational space. Also, the analysis on parallel structure showed that relation between 'additional improvement, management, and connection' and other planning index is above 5.3 and importance on correlation with 'the part which should be protected from nature and landscape' marked 6.07 which is the highest.

This study investigated the characteristics of the establishment of an architectural guideline which is an important element of a urbanscape plan in basic landscape plans established by four local governments(a county level) in Jeollanam-do since the enactment of the landscape law. The results were as follows. The guideline for landscape plan elements was closely associated with shapes, materials, harmony, and coherence. For the detailed guideline for landscape plan elements, an architectural guideline on the arrangement, height, facade, and roof shapes of buildings, which is one of important elements related to urbanscape, was similar in local governments, showing a standard and uniform tendency. It indicates the limitation of forming urbanscape to enhance local identity and unique features and complementary contents are needed. The color guideline was classified into base color, sub color, and accent color in consideration of local features. In particular, natural material color was commonly used for base and sub color in all local governments. Therefore, it is necessary to develop unique material color and distinctive local color for each region.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of landscape law and institutions and to provide basic data for improvement of landscape systems. Specifically, we analyzed the importance and achievement of various landscape systems, and examined the understanding and perception of government officers in landscape plan, landscape project, landscape agreement, landscape reviews and landscape committees, landscape ordinance, and landscape administration. The main results of the study are summarized as follows. 1. Overall, the landscape administration system was highly interested, and it was also positive about the utility of the landscape law and the landscape charter. As a result of analysis of the IPA, the landscape plan and the landscape policy plan need to be intensively improved. 2. The landscape plan is mostly used for the purpose of responding to the scenery review or complaint request, but about 10.8% of respondents said that they did not refer it at all, so it is urgent to make the contents of the landscape plan real and improve the performance. Although many officers thought that less than 18 months would be quite enough for landscape plans, but it is necessary to change this duration issue. 3. In order to improve landscape projects and landscape agreements, it seems that budget securing, experts, and promotional organizations should be improved first. 4. It is urgently necessary to enhance the understanding about overall landscape law and systems of landscape review committee in order to supplement the landscape review and the landscape committee. 5. Administrative support such as personnel recruitment is required for landscape ordinance and landscape administration, and it is also found that many officers also have a great burden in making subjective judgment as the person in charge. There could be a positive bias in the results of the study, because the survey was conducted only for public officials who participated in the education. But the result will be helpful to look at the overall tendency of the landscape system. I hope that it will help improve the landscape system in the future much more realistic.
