Collaborative Visualization of Warfare Simulation using a Commercial Game Engine (상업용 게임 엔진을 활용한 전투 시뮬레이션 결과의 협업 가시화)

  • The needs for reusable 3D visualization tool has been being raised in various industries. Especially in the defense modeling and simulation (M&S) domain, there are abundant researches about reusable and interoperable visualization system, since it has a critical role to the efficient decision making by offering diverse validation and analyzing processes. To facilitate the effectiveness, states-of-the-arts M&S systems are applying VR (Virtual Reality) or AR (Augmented Reality) technologies. To reduce the work burden authors design a collaborative visualization environment based on a commercial game engine Unity3D. We define the requirements of the warfare simulation by analyzing pros and cons of existing tools and engines such as SIMDIS or Vega, and apply functionalities of the commercial game engine to satisfy the requirements. A prototype has been implemented as the collaborative visualization environment of iCAVE at KAIST, which is a facility for immersive virtual environment. The facility is intraoperative with smart devices.

Site Suitability Analysis for Riverbank Filtration Using Game Theory (게임이론을 활용한 강변여과 개발 적지선정)

  • The tap water supply in Korea mainly depends on the surface water. However, the advanced water purification process becomes a necessity due to the deterioration of surface water quality and the risk of accidental spill. High cost of water treatment and public concerns make the decision makers turn to riverbank filtration as an alternative to the surface water. Riverbank filtration has been employed for water supply in many developed countries for more than 150 years. In Korea, riverbank filtration has drawn attention since 1990s as a supply source having potential to stably meet the ever-increasing water demand. Some cities located in the Nakdong River Basin are currently supplying water through riverbank filtration. This work studies the site suitability analysis for riverbank filtration using game theory. Theory of games, which is a branch of applied mathematics used in social sciences (most notably economics), biology, engineering and computer science, was applied to candidate locations for the selection of riverbank filtration site. We proposed a policy game model as a new method adopting a probabilistic approach. The model developed turned out to be an effective tool for site selection.

  • 과학기술의 발달로 인한 사회 문화적 트렌드의 변화는 새로운 기회와 가능성을 제공해 주며, 정보통신기술은 통신과 방송, 통신과 콘텐츠 등 영역간의 경계를 허물며 융합을 가능하게 하고, 우리의 감성과 상상력을 자극하여 새로운 문화적 가능성을 열어주고 있다. 이러한 상황들은 방송 통신 융합이라는 이름으로 방송과 통신, TV와 PC 온라인과 오프라인 등의 모든 영역에서 다양한 노력이 진행되고 있다. 방송과 통신의 융합은 마치 역사상 신대륙의 개척 과정처럼 새로운 제품과 새로운 시장을 창출해내는 능력을 가지고 있기 때문에, 국내는 물론 세계의 모든 비즈니스 업체들은 이 기회의 땅을 향해 전력 질주하고 있다. 또한, 이에 따르는 콘텐츠의 융합 역시 괄목할만하며, 게임과 영화, 다큐멘터리와 드라마 등의 콘텐츠 간의 융합은 물론이고, 최근에는 모바일에서 영화를 제작하고, 게임과 소설 네트워크가 결합하고, 심지어는 게임 안에서 음악을 유통시키는 유통의 융합까지도 이뤄지고 있다. 이와 같은 다양한 융합의 확산은 미디어와 플랫폼의 등장뿐만 아니라 플랫폼 간 교차와 연결 및 통합이 가능한 미디어 전경(landscape)을 창출해 내고 있으며, 인터넷과 TV의 결합은 다양한 애플리케이션을 구현할 수 있는 전송 메커니즘을 서로 연결시켜 수많은 형태의 다중 플랫폼을 등장시키고 있다. 이로 인하여 방송 서비스와 인터넷 서비스가 네트워크나 전송 플랫폼의 구별 없이, 그리고 디바이스의 선택과 상관없이 활용되는 통합 플랫폼 환경이 폭 넓게 조성되고 있다. 따라서, 방송 통신 융합 환경에 적합한 다중 플랫폼 융합 콘텐츠는 사용자의 요구 및 새로운 비즈니스 모텔에 대한 요구를 만족할 수 있어야 하며, 일관된 기술로 통선 및 서비스간의 호환성을 유지하는 인터페이스의 표준화가 이루어져야한다. 방송 통신 융합 환경에 적합한 다중 플랫폼 융합 콘텐츠는 초고속 데이터 통신망을 활용하는 멀티미디어 및 IP 멀티캐스트 기능을 활용한 서비스들과 연계하여, 관련된 소재 산업들의 파급효과가 매우 크며, 관련 분야에 미치는 효과가 막대하므로, 이에 대한 적절한 육성전략을 고찰해보도록 한다.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore educational awareness and meaning by applying an role-playing game (RPG) type class based on constructivism in physical education class in middle school. Regarding the research method, data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and related documents, and data analysis was performed using case record analysis, inductive category analysis method, and case extraction process. Results of the study First, in terms of teachers' perceptions, there are both positive and negative aspects of teachers' perceptions of middle school physical education classes using the role-playing game (RPG) format. Second, in terms of educational meaning, the educational meaning of middle school physical education classes using the role-playing game (RPG) format emphasizes the need for a systematic lesson plan and sufficient support system. In conclusion, positive attitudes toward physical education as well as educational implications can be formed, and the basic foundation of the constructivist physical education class method and its preparation are thought to be of greater significance than anything else.

  • This study was conducted to implement Joseon Dynasty conversational style using the ChatGPT API to enhance the immersion of games set in the Joseon era. The research focuses on interactions between middle-class players and other classes. Two methods were employed: learning the dialogues from historical dramas set in the Joseon Dynasty and learning the sentence endings typical of the period. The method of learning sentence endings was rated higher based on self-evaluation criteria. Reflecting this, prompts were constructed to represent NPC dialogues in the game settings of the Joseon era. Additionally, a method was proposed for creating various NPC prompts using prompt combination techniques. This study can serve as a reference for NPC dialogue creation in games set in the Joseon Dynasty.

  • In the current era of Corona, the positive potential of board games is emerging as the 'untact' is accelerating. This situation can be seen as an opportunity to have a positive impact on the development of the board game industry depending on how to develop board games in a more interesting, high-quality and educational way than before. To this end, this study intends to present a methodology for deriving the relative importance of important factors in board game development among the preceding studies and methodologies for more advanced board game development by board game developers and experts. This study is to derive the relative importance of important factors in board game development. To this end, important factors in board game development for board game developers and experts were derived through the Delphi method, and the Delphi method in the ranking format was used to rank the relative importance of the derived factors. This study focused on the development model of playing cards among board games. Priority analysis result, development and planning composition, prior research analysis, draft production, production, validation, application, and review in order of importance were derived(were derived in the order of importance). The results of this study are expected to provide practical guidelines for companies to prioritize and utilize development according to their importance when developing board games.

Path-finding Algorithm using Heuristic-based Genetic Algorithm (휴리스틱 기반의 유전 알고리즘을 활용한 경로 탐색 알고리즘)

  • The path-finding algorithm refers to an algorithm for navigating the route order from the current position to the destination in a virtual world in a game. The conventional path-finding algorithm performs graph search based on cost such as A-Star and Dijkstra. A-Star and Dijkstra require movable node and edge data in the world map, so it is difficult to apply online games with lots of map data. In this paper, we provide a Heuristic-based Genetic Algorithm Path-finding(HGAP) using Genetic Algorithm(GA). Genetic Algorithm is a path-finding algorithm applicable to game with variable environment and lots of map data. It seek solutions through mating, crossing, mutation and evolutionary operations without the map data. The proposed algorithm is based on Binary-Coded Genetic Algorithm and searches for a path by performing a heuristic operation that estimates a path to a destination to arrive at a destination more quickly.

  • Variables and expressions are essential for doing mathematics. Especially abbreviations of the multiplication sign ${\times}$ and the division sign ${\div}$ are current rules that we usually follow. In this paper, we devised a Card-Game for exercising abbreviations of the multiplication sign ${\times}$ and the division sign ${\div}$ in calculating expressions, designed a teaching unit for the calculation of expressions using the Card-Game in the variables and expressions strand, and discussed the implications of using the Card-Game for motivating students, cooperative learning, diagnosis and correction of errors, and so on.

The Effects and Process of the Politics Instruction Utilizing an Online Game, 'Goonzu' (온라인게임 '군주'를 활용한 초등학교 정치수업 수행 및 효과)

  • The politics instruction, where utilizing an online game named 'Goonzu' as an instructional tool had been implemented to students from four classes of 5th grade during ten weeks. Four teachers participated in teaching the students and constructed curriculum by playing 'Goonzu' and analyzing the regular elemental school Politics curriculum before implementation. To verify effectiveness of the instruction, the survey, asking students' efficacy, interest and their cognitive changes of main elements that students considered when they elected their representatives, was conducted. Moreover opinions about this instruction from the students and the teachers were gathered through the forms of interview and short essay. As the results of this research, students' efficacy toward doing politic activities was significantly increased. However, m case of students' interests to this instruction, there was no significant difference despite of increase of the mean. Also, students put more weight on intrinsic e1ements(daigency, responsibility) of the representative in online election than offline election and the students, who took the course, stressed intrinsic elements more than other students.

  • G-learning, based on online game, virtual reality activities and communities, is considered as a fresh, differentiated idea at learning which drives learners' interest and attention. The paper is to analyzed effectiveness of G-learning at the mathematics classes in elementary school. Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students in Seoul are selected as an experimental groups and their achievement scores are measured. The difference between G learning group and textbook group was significant. This result shows that G-learning has a positive effect on learning.
