  • With the rapid development of information and communication technology, the speed of data production has increased rapidly, and this is represented by the concept of big data. Discussions on quality and reliability are also underway for big data whose data scale has rapidly increased in a short period of time. On the other hand, small data is minimal data of excellent quality and means data necessary for a specific problem situation. In the field of culture and arts, data of various types and topics exist, and research using big data technology is being conducted. However, research on whether basic information about culture and arts institutions is accurately provided and utilized is insufficient. The basic information of an institution can be an essential basis used in most big data analysis and becomes a starting point for identifying an institution. This study collected data dealing with the basic information of culture and arts institutions to define common metadata and constructed small data in the form of a knowledge graph linking institutions around common metadata. This can be a way to explore the types and characteristics of culture and arts institutions in an integrated way.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how the teaching activities which used EXCEL influence the specialized high school underachieved students. They have difficulties in making use of various representations for better understanding of function. EXCEL is helpful for learning function because it enables the students to use real life materials in math learning as well as formulates Tabular, Algebraic and Graphical which represent function. Furthermore, the students in specialized high school also have the experience of using EXCEL while studying other subjects. For that reason they have no burdens and fears on using EXCEL in learning activities. Utilizing EXCEL in the classroom gives an expectation that it helps to have interests on studying function and prepare for the next learning in the end. Research classes were conducted in a group of five students who have different hopes of career and a variety of mathematical interests. Though the students couldn't transfer Algebraic to Graphical in the diagnostic evaluation, they could resolve the problem of connections between Graphical, Tabular and Algebraic in the process perspectives, and could also express graphical representation by linking object perspectives with process perspectives. Therefore, they solved the connection problem of Tabular, Algebraic and Graphical in the object perspectives. As a result, the students could make transitions between Algebraic and Graphical in object perspectives through the classes applying EXCEL. Consequently, teaching the students with underachievement utilizing EXCEL enables them to recover their interests on math and it helps them to complete their following curriculum.

  • Many people use social network services as to communicate, to share an information and to build social relationships between others on the Internet. Twitter is such a representative service, where millions of tweets are posted a day and a huge amount of data collection has been being accumulated. Social mining that extracts the meaningful information from the massive data has been intensively studied. Typically, Twitter easily can deliver and retweet the contents using the following-follower relationships. Topic modeling in tweet data is a good tool for issue tracking in social media. To overcome the restrictions of short contents in tweets, we introduce a notion of reply graph which is constructed as a graph structure of which nodes correspond to users and of which edges correspond to existence of reply and retweet messages between the users. The LDA topic model, which is a typical method of topic modeling, is ineffective for short textual data. This paper introduces a topic modeling method that uses reply graph to reduce the number of short documents and to improve the quality of mining results. The proposed model uses the LDA model as the topic modeling framework for tweet issue tracking. Some experimental results of the proposed method are presented for a collection of Twitter data of 7 days.

  • This paper presents an automated protocol conformance test sequence generation based on formal methods for LOTOS specification by using and applying many existing related algorithms and technique, such as the testing framework, Rural Chinese Postman tour concepts. We use the state-transition graphs obtained from LOTOS specifications by means of the CAESAR tool. This tool compiles a specification written in LOTOS into an extended Petri net, from which a transition graph of a event finite-state machine(EvFSM) including data is generated. A new characterizing sequence(CS), called Unique Event sequence(UE sequence) is defined. An UE sequence for a state is a sequence of accepted gate events that is unique for this state. Some experiences about UE sequence, partial UE sequence and signature are also explained. These sequences are combined with the concept of the Rural Chinese Postman Tour to obtain an optimal test sequence which is a minimum cost tour of the reference transition graph of the EvFSM. This paper also presents a fault coverage estimation experience of an automated method for optimized test sequences generation and the translation of the test sequence obtained by using our tool to TTCN notation are also given. A prototype of the proposed framework has been built with special attention to real application in order to generated the executable test cases in an automatic way. This formal method on conformance testing can be applied to the protocols related to IN, PCS and ATM for the purpose of verifying the correctness of implementation with respect to the given specification.

  • The statistical education researchers advise instructors to educate informal statistical inference and they are paying close attention to the progress of the statistical inference in general. This study was conducted by analyzing the levels and the traits of each levels of the informal statistical inference of the middle and high school students for comparing the samples of data and estimating the graph of a population. Research has shown that five levels of the informal statistical inference were identified for comparing the samples of data: responses that are distracted or misled by an irrelevant aspect, responses that focus on frequencies of individual data points and hold a local view of the sample data sets, responses that the student's view of the data is transitioning from local to global, responses that hold a global view but do not clearly integrate multiple aspects of the distribution, and responses that integrate multiple aspects of the distribution. Another five levels of the informal statistical inference were identified for estimating the graph of a population: responses that are distracted or misled by an irrelevant aspect, responses that focus only on representativeness, responses that consider both representativeness and variability and focus on one particular aspect of the distribution, responses that focus on multiple aspects of distribution but do not clearly integrate them, and responses that integrate multiple aspects of the distribution.

  • This paper presents an ontology construction method using various computational language resources, and an ontology-based word sense disambiguation method. In order to acquire a reasonably practical ontology the Kadokawa thesaurus is extended by inserting additional semantic relations into its hierarchy, which are classified as case relations and other semantic relations. To apply the ontology to disambiguate word senses, we apply the previously-secured dictionary information to select the correct senses of some ambiguous words with high precision, and then use the ontology to disambiguate the remaining ambiguous words. The mutual information between concepts in the ontology was calculated before using the ontology as knowledge for disambiguating word senses. If mutual information is regarded as a weight between ontology concepts, the ontology can be treated as a graph with weighted edges, and then we locate the weighted path from one concept to the other concept. In our practical machine translation system, our word sense disambiguation method achieved a 9% improvement over methods which do not use ontology for Korean translation.

  • This Study suggests some ideas how we develop a network of content structure based on informal context and method how we decide a sequence of mathematical syllabus from those Structures. 10th grade students in the process conceptual development was observed and interviewed in 2 hour teaching and learning experiment. Three related characteristics of student's thought in structuring math. Content and sequencing it were investigated as follows : (a) the reasoning that they do reflective abstraction well(or do not well) in acquisition of conceptual knowledge. (b) the method that teacher can use resuits in (a) to organize the content structure. (c) the ways that teacher find the process knowledge in informal content structure. That is, this study investigated the way we, curriculum designer, can create well defined content structure and instructional sequence strongly based on the learners' understanding.

  • Various influence-related relationships in Social Network Services (SNS) among users, posts, and user-and-post, can be expressed using links. The current research evaluates the influence of specific users or posts by analyzing the link structure of relevant social network graphs to identify influential users. We applied the concept of mutual interactions proposed for ranking semantic web resources, rather than the voting notion of Page Rank or HITS, to blogosphere, one of the early SNS. Through many experiments with network models, where the performance and validity of each alternative approach can be analyzed, we showed the applicability and strengths of our approach. The weight tuning processes for the links of these network models enabled us to control the experiment errors form the link weight differences and compare the implementation easiness of alternatives. An additional example of how to enter the content scores of commercial or spam posts into the graph-based method is suggested on a small network model as well. This research, as a starting point of the study on identifying influential users in SNS, is distinctive from the previous researches in the following points. First, various influence-related properties that are deemed important but are disregarded, such as scraping, commenting, subscribing to RSS feeds, and trusting friends, can be considered simultaneously. Second, the framework reflects the general phenomenon where objects interacting with more influential objects increase their influence. Third, regarding the extent to which a bloggers causes other bloggers to act after him or her as the most important factor of influence, we treated sequential referencing relationships with a viewpoint from that of PageRank or HITS (Hypertext Induced Topic Selection).

  • Keyword matching technique which is used in most information retrieval systems is unfit for efficient processing of geometrically increasing information. The problem can be solved by using semantic information and an efficient method of semantic processing is introduced in this paper. The technique uses conceptual graph to represent the semantic information and apply it for information retrieval. The implemented system can perform exact matching and partial matching. Partial matching has two different types. One is syntactic partial matching and the other is semantic partial matching. The semantic semilaries are measured by the subclass relations in the ontology. The introduced technique can be used not only information retrieval but also in various applications such as an implementation of dynamic hyperlinks.
