  • This study was a descriptive research study to identify the effects of related knowledge to COVID-19, infection control performance, and job stress in emergency department nurses due to COVID-19 on nursing performance, to improve emergency department nurses' ability to cope with emerging infectious diseases and to prepare basic data for effective nursing work. This study was collected data from August, 10 until September, 10, 2021, for 165 emergency department nurses in 26 hospitals, which were located in G province and designated as regional emergency medical institutions, and total 150 copies were finally analyzed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. As a result of analyzing the variables affecting the subject's nursing job performance by multiple regression using the hierarchical selection method, the higher the infection control performance and the higher the job stress, the more higher the nursing job performance, and the explanatory power was 18.4%. The study results showed that infection control performance, job stress, and non-shift work had an effect on nursing performance. It was thought that various plans to protect them, reduced tasks to efficiently perform and the nursing ability to cope with emerging infectious disease should be prepared to improve and reduce the job stress of emergency department nurses.

  • Hospital information system has been widely used and increased recently for a variety of many aspects. And Order-Communicating system(OCS), as like as hospital information system, has been used in many medical care facilities, which is simple and easily accessible, useful system. Also then the use of OCS in emergency care center in YUMC has been introduced since 1996. 10, above 70% of availability is noticed at present and increasing in the use rate, is considered that it is very simple and accurate, time-saving, widely applicable system. So authors say that, after the use of OCS in emergency care center, interhospital exchange of the patient's information and also accomplishment of EMSS can be possible.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to estimate optimization model of stay time in EMC. Methods: Data were collected at an EMC in a hospital using medical records from June to August in 2007. The sample size was 8,378. The data were structured by stay time for doctor visit, decision making, and discharge from EMC. Descriptive statistics were used to find out general characteristics of patients. Average mean and quantile regression models were adopted to estimate optimized stay time in EMC. Results: The stay times in EMC were highly skewed and non-normal distributions. Therefore, average mean as an indicator of optimal stay time was not appropriate. The total stay time using conditional quantile regression model was estimated about 110 min, that was about 166 min shorter than estimated time using average mean. Conclusion: According to these results, we recommend to use a conditional quantile regression model to estimate optimal stay time in EMC. We suggest that this results will be used to develop a guideline to manage stay time more effectively in EMC.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to investigate the degree of presenteeism, which lowers productivity when call center workers come to work with illness, and analyze the factors influencing it. Methods: A survey was conducted for three months from July to September, 2013 to collect data. Questionnaires were distributed to 1,500 workers at 30 call centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, of which were 1,274 returned and analyzed for the study. Results: The findings show that the call center workers scored 15.4 points out of the maximum 30 on presenteeism based on SPS-6. The study examined factors that affect the presenteeism of call center workers and identified inner emotional labor, depression, subjective health condition, age and turnover intention as those factors. Their presenteeism was low when they engaged in more inner emotional labor, and when they had a good subjective health condition. The presenteeism was high when they had a higher degree of depression, were young, and had a higher turnover intention. Conclusion: The findings call for a need to implement a mental health promotion program to resolve call center workers' depression at work, help them manage their emotional labor to lower their turnover intention, improve their subjective health conditions, and run a health management program to consider the uniqueness of the young age group in order to prevent their increasing presenteeism.
