An Experimental Study on the Variation of Pore Water Pressures in the Seabed Subjected to Waves (파랑하중에 의한 해저지반의 공극수압 변화에 대한 연구)

  • For the geotechnical analysis in the construction and Deign of the coastal structures, one of the most important factors is the existence of waves. The dynamic behavior and deformation of the seabed subjected to wave load must be considered. It is expected that the soil behavior in the seabed subjected to cyclic wave load is much different from that on the ground subjected to dynamic forces such as earthquake. The purposes of this study are as follows ; Firstly, to provide a testing method to generate wave loads in the laboratory and measuring oscillatory pore water pressures in the unsaturated marine silty sand specimen, Secondly, to analyze the mechanism of wave induced pore water pressures and liquefaction potentials under the conditions in the testing. It is shown that the test set-up manufactured especially for the test is good to generate oscillatory wave pressures to the specimen with sine wave type. From the results of this study, it is understood that the pore water pressure due to induced waves is not accumulated as the wave number increases but is periodically varied with wave passage on still water surface. The magnitude of pore water pressures measured tends to be diminished radically with a certain time lag under the action of both high and low waves as depth increases.

Evaluation of the Sealing Capacity of the Supercritical CO2 by the Measurement of Its Injection Pressure into the Tuff and the Mudstone in the Janggi Basin (초임계이산화탄소(scCO2) 주입압력 측정에 의한 장기분지 응회암과 이암의 scCO2 차폐능 평가)

  • The laboratory scale experiment was performed to evaluate the sealing capacity of the capping rock such as tuff and mudstone, measuring the intial supercritical $CO_2$ ($scCO_2$) injection pressure and the $scCO_2$-water-rock reaction for 90 days. The drilling cores sampled from 800 m in depth around the Janggi basin, Korea were used for the experiment. The mineralogical changes of mudstone and tuff were measured to evaluate the geochemical stability during the $scCO_2$-water-rock reaction at $CO_2$ storage condition (100 bar and $50^{\circ}C$). The rock core was fixed in the high pressurized stainless steel cell and was saturated with distilled water at 100 bar of pore water pressure. The effluent of the cell was connected to the large tank filled with 3 L of water and 2 L of $scCO_2$ at 100 bar, simulating the subsurface injection condition. The $scCO_2$ injection pressure, which was higher than 100 bar, was controlled at the influent port of the cell until the $scCO_2$ begin to penetrate into the rock and the initial injection pressure (> 100 bar) of $scCO_2$ into the rock was measured for each rock. The mineralogical compositions of mudstones after 90 days reaction were similar to those before the reaction, suggesting that the mudstone in the Janggi basin has remained relatively stable for the $scCO_2$ involved geochemical reaction. The initial $scCO_2$ injection pressure (${\Delta}P$) of a tuff in the Janggi basin was 15 bar and the continuous $scCO_2$ injection into the tuff core occurred at higher than 20 bar of injection pressure. For the mudstone in the Janggi basin, the initial $scCO_2$ injection pressure was higher than 150 bar (10 times higher than that of the tuff). From the results, the mudstone in Janggi basin was more suitable than the tuff to shield the $scCO_2$ leakage from the reservoir rock at subsurface.

  • carried out to present a rheology model which is able to treat time-dependent properties of clay. The results were summarized as follow ; 1. The slope (a(e1)) of deviator stress in strain rate test was independent on axial strain, and pore water pressure was decreased with increment of strain rate. 2. The pore water pressure in a stress relaxation condition was not changed when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.05%/min., but it was increased with increment of time when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.2%/min 3. The greater the stress condition (q/qmax) and the strain rate before creep test became, the greater the increment rate of axial strain in creep test became. 4. SEKIGUCHI's constitutive equation was slightly overpredicted while empirical equation proposed in the study was well coincided with measured values. 5. The constitutive equation induced by a strain function could be dealed with a behavior of the pore water pressure increased with increment of elapsed time after primary consolidation.

  • It is known in some literatures that the B value is not equal to unity in saturated soil when effective stress is given, in which the B Value is the ratio of measured excess pore water pressure and isometric loading pressure. In this study the B value was measured on various effective stresses and on various incremental loading stresses in various grain size of specimens with saturated sand. The test results showed that the B value was affected largely by grain size of sand in specimen and the amount of effective stress. There was the semi-logarithmic relationship between B value and effective stress, and also there was the linear relationship between the gradient of the former semi-logarithmic relationship and grain size of specimen.

  • 강수량 변동에 따른 사면 내의 지하수유동과 사면의 안정성 변화를 동시에 분석.평가하기 위하여 하나의 완전 연동된 수리지질역학적 모델을 제시하였다. 이 모델은 변형성 지질매체 내에서의 지하수유동을 설명하는 일련의 지배식들과 Galerkin 유한요소법에 기초하여 개발되었다. 1990년부터 1999년까지의 서울지역의 건기 (1월) 및 우기 (8월) 강수량 하에 있는 토양 사면에 대해 개발된 모델을 적용하여 일련의 수치실험을 실시하였다. 수치실험의 결과는 강수량이 증가함에 따라 사면의 수리역학적 안정성이 전반적으로 악화됨을 보여준다. 즉 강수량이 증가할수록 공극수압이 증가하고 지하수면이 상승한다. 그 결과 불포화대가 축소되고 삼출면이 팽창되며 사면의 전단부를 따라 지하수유동속도가 증가하게 된다. 동시에 강수량이 증가할수록 사면 전단부를 향해 전반적인 변위량이 증가한다. 그 결과 안전율이 1 이하인 불안전한 지역이 사면 전단부에서 사면 상부 쪽으로 전파.팽창되며 그 두께도 증가한다. 수치실험의 결과는 또한 사면의 표면에서는 전단파괴와 더불어 인장파괴도 발생할 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • The B value on the saturated soil is commonly known as the amount of 1. Usually this concept is consistent with the condition that effective stress is equal to zero, but it was reported in some literatures that the B value was less than 1 in spite of saturated condition in the test of very stiff material such as rock and quasi-stiff material on which the stiffness can be mobilized because of effective stress not equal to zero. In this study the B value was measured on various effective stress conditions on normally consolidated clay. The test results in the B value less than 1 in spite of perfect saturation. The measured excessive pore water pressure was not only smaller than the change of the total stress, but also the function of time on clay.

  • The initial condition of $\Delta \sigma_3 \;=\; \Delta u$ is used for analyzing the time dependent behavior of ground. This is based on the concept that the coefficient of pore water B is the unity on the condition of saturation. but some measured consolidation data in the field showed that the pore water pressure was not dissipated as time elapsed but it was maintained constant value or it's dissipation rate was slower than that of the predicted. and so the measured data of pore water pressure was not consistent with that of settlement. In this study, the rheological model for the pore water pressure behavior on undrained condition was induced and compared with the experiment data of the literature. The result showed that the suggested model was consistent well with the result of experiment, but the suggested model could not explain the effect of the decrease of void ratio according to consolidation.

Infiltration Measurement and Prediction of Soil Water Flow Redistribution (침투율 측정과 재분배시의 토양수분흐름의 추정)

  • 지표에서 토양속으로 흐르는 물의 침수를을 동심원관형침수계를 사용하여 측정하였다. 내부관과 외부관을 비교함으로서 침투율 측정시 침투계 바깥쪽으로 흐르는 수평방향으로 흐름을 예상할수 있으며 서로 다른 초기함수조건에서 침투율을 측정, 비교함으로써 초기함수 상태의 침투율에 대한 영향을 고찰하였다. 측정치를 분석한 결과 예상한 대로 바깥쪽으로 흐르는 수평방향의 토양수분으로 인하여 외부관에서의 침투율이 내부관에서 보다 평균90% 컸으며, 또 초기 함수량이 작은 경우가 큰 경우보다 침투율이 켰다. 침수가 끝난 후 재분배시의 토양 수분 흐름은 수리지표를 검사함으로써 추정하였다.수평 및 수직방향의 수리지표는 다단 텐시오미터(multiple-depth tensiometer)를 사용하여 토양속의 공극수압을 측정하여 계산하였다 수리지표를 검사한 결과 재분배시 수평방향의 토양수분 흐름은 일정한 방향이 아니라 경우에 따라서 원관 침투계의 중심쪽으로 또는 바깥쪽으로 흘렀다. 이느 토양의 물리적 성질이 장소에 따라서 균일하지 않았음에 기인한 것이라 판단된다. 재분배시 수평 및 수직방향의 평균수리지표의 비율을 검사한 결과 시간이 경과할수록 비율이 감소 되었으며 또 깊이가 깊어질수록 감소하였다.이는 즉 시간이 지날수록 깊이가 깊어질수록 토양수분 흐름의 수평방향 성분이 감소한다는 것을 나타낸다.

  • GIS was appl ied for analysis of the potfnt ial degree of regional geologic hazard, expecially landslide, in the suburb of Seoul city. Potential elements causing a landslide are geology, slope geometry, groundwater, soil property, rainfall and vegetation etc. These factors were incorporated through GIS in order to predict the potential hazards, and to produce a regional geologic hazard map in the study area, For this study, ARC/INFO and ERDAS systems were used in SUN4-390 workstation.
