  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting childhood asthma and atopic dermatitis. Methods: For this study, data for 1,170 children (1-11 years) from the Fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V-2, 2011) were analyzed. First correlation matrices were computed to test the normality of every data set and then to be in accordance with the real demographic composition, data were added weight before being analyzed. Results: The child with asthma of a three generation family (OR=3.91, 95% CI [1.33, 11.45], p=.013) compared with a two generation family showed higher asthma development, and maternal asthma (OR=9.71, 95% CI [2.66, 35.40], p=.001) showed higher asthma development in child. The only factor affecting atopic dermatitis was parental perceptions of child health: poor (OR=3.40, 95% CI [1.29, 8.98], p=.014). Conclusion: These results suggest that childhood asthma and atopic dermatitis are both affected by parental perceptions of child health. Accordingly, management and support programs for children who have asthma and/or atopic dermatitis and their families should be comprehensive and also give attention to any other health problems because health perception represents quality of life.

  • In this paper, we purpose to describe the relationship and influencing factors among self-esteem, loneliness on subjective well-being of middle-aged women. The subjects were 157 middle-aged women through convenience sampling residing in S city, C and three G provinces. The data were collected from June 15th to July 31st, 2019. The data were analyzed through t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 22.0. The result showed self-esteem, loneliness on subjective well-being averaged 31.39(out of 40), 35.37(out of 80), 5.03(out of 7). In term of correlations, subjective well-being of middle-aged women was significantly positively correlated with self-esteem (r=.581, p<.001), and significantly negatively related with loneliness (r =-.621, p<.001)). Variables affecting subjective well-being were self-esteem (β=.324 p<.001), loneliness(β=-.424, p<.001). These variables represented 44.5% of the subject's subjective well-being. These results suggest that development of a intervention program is needed to lowers loneliness and increases self-esteem in order to increase the subjective well-being of middle-aged women.

  • Jeong Geuk-in was a poet of the early Joseon period. He lived for 45 years before Hangeul was published and 35 years afterwards. So, he wrote poetry both in Chinese and Korean. He was a creative writer who wrote Korean poems and songs. There were only a few works written in Korean including and before him. His Korean poems are , and . He created Korean poems and songs by unifying three literary forms of Sijo, Gyeong-gi-che-ga and Gasa. This study was intended to examine written in Korean. For the study, the form of the Bul-woo-heon-ga was analyzed and it was considered as Saseolsijo (a form of sijo with no restrictions on the length of the first two verses) for genre classification. However, it is generally thought that the Saseolsijo appeared in the seventeenth century. Therefore, this study is to explain the reason why Bul-woo-heon-ga is included in Saseolsijo. Another problem is that the writer of Bul-woo-heon-ga is not Jeong Geul-in, because of the fact that the speaker who appears in Bul-woo-heon-ga admired Jeong Geuk-in. In general, people do not admire themselves. As Jeong Geuk-in is a subject to be admired in the book, it is thought that the writer of the book is considered as one of his pupils or friends.

  • Kim Deuk-yeon(金得硏), who lived at the age of Chosun Dynasty, was the person who kept the parents's will of not serving as a government officias even though he had the ability of serving those positions. He made his composition at the Jisujeong(止水亭), a kind of pavilion which he had built, and the Sijo(時調) Sanjungjapgok(山中雜曲) is one of those compositions. This sugggestes that Sanjungjapgok has a close relation with the Jisujeong(止水亭) which he opreated on his own. So the purpose of this study is focused on analyzing the Sanjungjapgok based on his goal of operating the Jisujeong. The middle age of Chosun dynasty was the era when the pavilion had been prevail even to the average aristocrats who stayed just in local area. Kim Deuk-yeon seems to have had a great endeavor of operating his own pavilion; he had prepared to build Jisujeong for about 30 years. This resulted in his affection of the Jisujeong, which caused him to spend the last part of his life there. Sanjungjapgok consists of 49 pieces of peom and seems to have been written after compositing Jisujeongga(止水亭歌). Even though it has the same title, it doesn't have lots of relations for us to regard this as a Yeonsijo(聯詩調). But this also has the properties of Yeonsijo, whoch contatins 14 Yeonjaksijo(聯作時調) composed of Yeonsijo which has 2 to six lines. The subject of the Sanjungjapgok can be classified as a four major parts: appreciating the nature, study, gathering to make the poem, and taking a rest while satisfied with his own situation. These four properties reflect the function of the private pavilion. In the light of these four properties, I noticed that there were some contents dealing with the private pavilion. Given his social status, I was able to confirm that he had the considerable satisfaction with his life of operating the private pavilion, which was reflected by the Sanjungjapgok.

  • This study focuses on the development of simple qualitative indicators for evaluating and selecting innovation leading companies that challenge National Award. Another purpose of this study is to complement the aspect in which the innovative or value of the companies' products, technologies, and services is only quantitatively evaluated. Existing evaluation indicators of national award have too many evaluation items and were not suitable for innovation-based company evaluation. The research approach is to select category for developing qualitative indicators based on previous studies and TF discussion. From the input-process-output-outcome point of view, we have set up an indicator system as a series of flows. Finally, five categories such as creativity, system excellence, customer value, performance, and ripple effects are selected as qualitative indicator. For these selected indicators, conceptual definitions and the main points of evaluation are described. And the system level evaluation and the ADLI approach are presented for reference. The appendix also includes examples of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of real companies using these indicators. However, this study implies the possibility that the evaluation results may vary depending on the level and perspective of the evaluator. We hoped that detailed research on candidate indicators that can be used as qualitative indicators and research on the development of mixed indicators(qualitative and quantitative) will continue in the future.

  • A primary aspect of low impact development (LID) design that affects performance efficiency, maintenance frequency, and lifespan of the facility is the type of filter media as well as the arrangement or media profile. Several LID guidelines providing media specifications are currently available and numerous studies have been published presenting the effectiveness of these systems. While some results are similar and consistent, some of them still varies and only a few focuses on the effect of filter media type and arrangement on system performance. This creates a certain level of uncertainty when it comes to filter media selection and design. In this review, a synthesis of filter media specifications from several LID design guidelines are presented and relevant results from different laboratory and field studies are highlighted. The LID systems are first classified as infiltration or non-infiltration structures, and vegetated or non-vegetated structures. Typical profiles of the media according to classification are shown including the different layers, materials, and depth. In addition, results from previous studies regarding the effect of filter media characteristics on hydraulic and hydrologic functions as well as pollutant removal are compared. Other considerations such as organic media leaching, clogging, media washing, and handling during construction were also briefly discussed. This review aims to provide a general guideline that can contribute to proper media selection and design for structural LIDs. In addition, it also identifies opportunities for future research.

  • As demands and applications of spatial information increase, different aspects of quality management have been raised as an important issue. This study suggests a quality management method for consumer-oriented spatial information, providing the consumer satisfaction. As opposed to the demands mentioned, less attention has been paid on the quality for the spatial information. So far, most of spatial information producers have kept their own independent quality management system and standard. Because of this unconscious response, it has been difficult to reflect the consumer's various and flexible demands from the silo structure of the quality management systems and regulations. The explosive increase of spatial information products creates quality-related problems such as limited time and budget for the consumer-oriented quality management. To solve these problems this study suggests to use a minimum number of the basic spatial information products which can guarantee better qualities when other products are combined. Because each of the spatial information product can include several other sub-products inside, it can have intrinsic characteristics such as geographic accuracy relationships between the products when combined and a hierarchical structure in each product in terms of the quality management mentioned. To prove the usability of the model, a case of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Center is used because the Center collects and distributes an enormous amount of spatial information to the public and private sector.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing stress coping behaviors of elementary students in Korea. Methods: This study used a descriptive comparative survey design. A total of 1,161 elementary students voluntarily participated in the study from 10 schools at three regional levels (large and medium-sized cities, and rural towns). Coping behaviors were measured by the modified Ways of Coping Checklist. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The most commonly used stress coping behavior reported by the participants was mystic coping, followed by positive coping, and negative coping. Students living in the large city and female students tended to use more coping behaviors than students living in the medium-sized city or rural towns and male students, respectively. Positive coping behaviors were associated with high school performance while myotic coping behaviors were associated high life satisfaction. Conclusion: Elementary students who are males, dissatisfied with their lives, or living in large cities or rural towns tended to be at risk for poor coping. There were differences in factors influencing coping behaviors by type of coping behaviors. An approach to building a successful coping behavior that is specifically tailored to the gender subsets of population and region-specific social and physical environment is recommended.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the predisposing factors of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in fire fighters in Korea and to suggest the program development and solution to the critical incident stress management (CISM) in the future. PTSD is characterized by invasion, withdrawal, negative change of cognition and mood, and hypersensitivity. Trauma memory includes explicit memory and implicit memory. The explicit memory is conscious, cognitive, and descriptive and is controlled by hippocampus. The data of explicit memory have inhibitive and narrative language structure. The implicit memory is inconscious, emotional, and remembered by the body. The implicit memory is controlled by amygdala and has inexpressive language structure. The deletion of implicit memory is the key point to trauma treatment. Critical incident stress management (CISM) is the approach for the solution of PTSD. In conclusion, the essential goal of CISM is the psychological cessation of PTSD. This study tried to suggest the education program development of PTSD.
